Adding a pressure switch to work with a regular air chuck that is normally closed
From eBay I found an adapter that will thread into the air hose to use a regular quick disconnect air chuck.
Quick disconnect air chucks are normally closed so when the compressor is on and no air is flowing out. The relief valve will constantly bleed excessive air.
Decided to add a pressure switch.

Great video. Just got one of these Smittybilt Compressors and wanted to do something like this. Thanks for the links, going to get this done and try it out. Something so simple that should have come with one of these for how much they cost.

Just a note when I did mine the yellow wire nut was not put on very well the wires were ready to fall out, I took it off and soldered it with shrink tube.

Love the video excellent details. I’m doing the same I have all top air compressor. Do you need the blow off valve with that pole ring on it? Or can I install without it? Thanks in advance.Almost have it. Lol

out of curiosity, do you think you could move the pop valve to the end of the handle, and use the T fitting on the side for the lead hose & pressure switch? for space savings & use a one-way check valve instead of a spacer so the motor doesnt have to spin up against the pressure

Is there any way to know what the right pressure switch to get for this? I've seen a number of videos and people use all sorts of pressure cut-offs. For off-road tire inflation, the big tires don't need to go above 40 or 45 psi, so it would seem the 70 PSI would be plenty at the low end. Can you tell em how this has worked for you?

Quick question for u? I added a pressure switch and it seems to work! however the compressor comes back on every 30 seconds or so for maybe 1 second. Is this normal? Or am I losing pressure somewhere? I thought once it reached the desired psi and was not in use it would stay off until I turned it on

I did this to mine today. However, mine seems to be leaking air. My compressor will hold air for about 30 seconds before it kicks on again Does yours do this too? I checked all my line with soapy water and all is good and tight.
