On this video, I smoked up 3 racks of wagyu beef back ribs from Midland meat Co. I used 3 different rubs and they were all really flavorful. Some were a little salty but I may have added too much rub which would make them salty. Total cook time was 6 hours and the ribs were really tender and flavorful.

Lovin it. We blend USS a little strong. It's not a rub to put on really thick. Thanks so much for the tester and the thumbs up. You do a GREAT job on all of your videos.

Hey Steve, the rub had a really good flavor and I should've tasted it prior. I would've added a little less. It wasn't super salty but I'm not a big salt fan. I'm going to use that rub on some steaks.🤘

Thank you for showing the new app features on the YS640s. Pretty darn cool! I ordered my ys640s today and will have it this Wednesday. I have been somewhat disappointed with my Traeger cooks so I have high hopes for this. I ate at Chris's (Kettle Cookers) house the day after you filmed there lol. Keep up the good videos!

Great video Joe. I have found in the past that some rubs get saltier as the volume in the shaker goes down even though I shake them up before using. The large heavy salt crystals seem to settle to the bottom. I started to use flaked salt in my rubs and don’t seem to have this problem anymore.

Yes sir Kevin. I'm so used to Victory Lane that's not very salty compared to many rubs. The other 2 rubs were really good but I need to use less on less meaty food like these ribs.👍🏼

Joe, you can record ur phone screen and save it then import into your editor then put that in video. I did it with Thermoworks App and “Signals” for one of my videos so you don’t have to worry about the focus. You can RU-vid how to do it on your Android as I’m a iPhone and couldn’t tell how to it. RIBS turned out fire!!

Thanks Joe that was nice comparison I believe the back ribs are not fair to compare rubs with as they don’t carry a lot of meat so they could be overseasoned easily! That’s y I think u got both of them more salty, coz each rub got different amount of salt in it.

Im not going to beat you up about the rub, enough people have done that. It might have been ok with short ribs, wrapped and left overnight in the fridge. Looked like how you'd do a brisket. I was thinking thats a lot of extra flavors there!. at least you were honest. I see video's of people doing ribs saying how juicy they are and it crunches when they eat or cut through them...

I wish more companies made a salt free rub. I have been cooking a long time and pretty much any rub with salt will be too salty on cooked meat when done. If you like to put a nice layer of seasoning, like you and i do, because of evaporation and concentration, with cooked meats its just too salty. I avoid 99% of rubs for this reason.

Those were wagyu beef ribs. So why would you apply a rub so heavily that you dont know about and then say it was too salty. I think some rubs need to be used sparingly to get the best results. I always taste new rubs before applying.

Always sprinkle a little rub in your hand to "taste" what it is--- too much salt, too much cumin, too much "something". Also, the camera showed how much you put on each rib, WOW!! WAY heavy, my opinion. I think that is why two slabs were salty.
