I've smoked meat on my various smoker using all types of wood. Oak, Hickory, Pecan. Apple, Cherry, Peach, Mesquite, Maple and so on. But I've never tried Mulberry wood. In this video I give it a try and tell you what I think. Enjoy!

I use mulberry very frequently in my bbq smoker..Similar to osage orange...makes loud cracking noises like firecrackers when burned...Smells like cotton candy.

Love the smell. I have some more in the shed. I’m going to break it out soon.

When I built my little smokehouse, a friend of mine was getting rid of a bunch of mulberry wood. So, I started with Mulberry and love it. It is a great wood to use for smoking but not so much for a campfire because it crackles and pops so much.

Another great Vid Dave! 👍 I've found Mulberry to be better as a "Smoldering" type of wood than something you want to try and run the Stick Burner with. But if You accompany it with a typical hard wood that keeps that coal base, it will be fine to add flavor. 👍🔥 \m/

Yeah I kind of figured that based on the way they burned in the WSM. They’d make a great added flavor.

Thanks. I used to have a huge mulberry bush in my front yard that I would prune every year and have tons of wood to use. I have since moved and lost my access to it.

I have a fruitless mulberry in my backyard. They grow like crazy. Gonna have to start saving the limbs

Mulberry grows like weeds here around the farm. I just cut a small one down this morning from a windbreak at the back of the farm. I have three or four more larger ones to take down in that same windbreak. Very heavy wood. I plan on using it in my offset smoker. I may have a cord or more when I’m done.

With all of the storms we've had this year, and all of the trees the storms have damaged, I oughta' drive around looking for Mulberry trees. I'd be happy to let the branches dry out in my shed for a couple of years. Looks like it'd be worth the effort!

Great flavor. Doesn’t burn very hot, would need to be used with another wood for heat

Thank You. Cutting back a lot of foliage on my property and ended up with a lot of Mulberry wood. Wasn't sure about using it but after watching this I'm looking forward to using it in my offset.

Great video Dave. Thank you. I'm a new sub. I live in Indiana so we have the same basic landscape. I have been really wanting to try this. I pruned a mulberry tree, and was saving the wood for kindling, but thought "fruit, maybe...."

I like it. Like I said in the video, it almost has a slight cotton candy taste

I just torch some charcoal to start the dry wood and wood the rest of the way. It's good all by itself. I just put two briskets on my little old school vertical water smoker. Badass everytime.

Just tried the same thing yesterday on a park shoulder! Had to cut a large limb last year because it was hitting the power line.

It tasted great. Like Apple or peach wood, but with something extra. My wife caught me eyeing the rest of the tree after dinner and said no lol.

Just wait for wind storm and make some branches “accidentally” 🪚 fall off! 😂😂
