This car looks beautiful, so sleek and looks to have more than enough room inside. I am due to change my Hyundai Kona ev in September, this has jumped to the top of my list.
The best sneak peek of the EV3 I've seen. I'm not mentioning the scarf! Auto EV easily the best in my opinion. Thanks, Bryan and keep the reviews coming.
This will sell like hot cakes. Question is - will Kia be able to make enough of them? And will their dealers be acting as predatory as they have with the EV6? The car is brilliant - Kia's dealership experience - no so much.
This will replace my 2020 Soul EV, just that little bit bigger everywhere (especially the boot) without being a massive SUV, really suits our family needs. It will be interesting to see how the efficiency is in this being 400V with the 800V cars they seem to suffer compared to the early Niro/Kona/Soul efficiency, but make up for that with their stellar charge speed. As I very rarely need to rapid charge 30 minute charge time is fine to reduce costs
Thanks for a great review once again, not so sure about your ........... . I live in New Zealand and Kia are just the bees knees over here, in the top 3 of all brands! I am not surprised either, as quite often I find myself head turning, and yes - it was a Kia. I drive a very lovely and easy to get along with MG zsev, (recommended sort-of by yourself) and for the past 2 years it has performed faultlessly, and one of the things I do like is the row of short cut buttons under the main screen, just like this Kia. Next week we will be off to see good old UK again, ( I left in 1964) and have not seen it since. We have several Scottish friends up here in Waipu, as it was a Scottish settlement in this area, and they are still very proud of it too! So my mate Robert Adam (! say no more), has suggest several places for us to visit. We will have to shorten our stay over there however, as the government has suddenly decided to have a snap election, so we want to be out a couple of days beforehand. If the EV3 does come to NZ, I will be very interested in trading up. The connectivity will be a thing in the future, V to L and V to G will create a new way of power sharing.
There'll be a Kia EV2 in 2026 and that should be closer in size to the Soul EV. If the range is good then that could be one to watch out for if you don't need a big car.
@@Orange_Manbaby The Soul is 4195 mm long and the EV3 is 4300 mm long so that is significant. The EV3 is between the Soul and the Niro which is 4420 mm long. The Soul appears large because of it's greater height. The EV3 benefits from an enormous wheelbase but the Soul has roomy packaging too because of the height.
I agree with you. Its beautiful. I was tempted recently to trade my Niro for a nearly new Kona 2024. Not now. I am waiting for this. This will be my next car. 100%
Would love this but it’s still far more than I could afford it’s practically a years wage before tax. I still can’t justify a new car, especially with the cost of living having gone up significantly. I have more important things to pay for like a mortgage and food for my family. Most EV’s are still far too expensive at least the pricing is going in the right direction. Hopefully the prices will come down much further over the next few years and this will filter through to the used market. Glad it has rear wiper, but would love to have seen an option for 800v architecture for charging, at least it’s an improvement over the Niro’s charging speed. Anyway if I win the lottery or have some other good fortune I would love a car like this.
One question I have not seen an answer to. I have seen the preview of this in Korea with the SD card slot to use the cameras as dash cams. They have previously not carried this forward into European cars. Please tell me it will be this time. 🙏
I have a Soul, definitely interested in this. Is there rear wash wipe ? IMO too many mf's have dropped that. IIRC Hyundai have brought it back on the refresh Ionic 5? If i got it it would be the large battery. My Soul does a real 280 miles in summer so I wouldnt want to drop below that. Something near 350 miles would mean i would literally never have to charge enroute in the UK because Id have destination charging and I wouldt do more than 350 miles in a single day Key will be price and lease price.
I'm in the US, but I seek out your EV reviews because I feel like you understand cars better than most reviewers out there. Your delivery is also second to none. Thank you.
What a charming comment. Thank you ever so much, that really means a lot. Glad to have you as a viewer and everyone of our reviews you watch is much appreciated. Thank you.
I wonder how Kia are going to differentiate the EV3 with the Niro EV 2024. It seems as if they are aiming the price at a slightly lower price than the Niro EV 2024, base model currently £37,295 GBP.
@@AutoEVthat’s not the case, this is a very similar size to the Niro. They’ll probably differentiate with the Niro price on battery size. And probably lower the Niro price a bit.
@@AutoEV I don’t agree it’s the class below the Niro EV. The EV3 is wider than the Niro, less than half an inch in height but does have less of a nose. Only 4% less boot space. People overestimate the size of the Niro. It’s quite similar to an ID3 in size.
How would you compared this car to the new Renault Scenic EV? As probably not the only person I'm due for a new company car end of the year and debating between the Scenic or perhaps something else like this?
I’d say the Scenic is a little bigger and offers a lot of car for the money. Unfortunately I have yet to drive the EV3 so can’t give you a definitive answer, but the Scenic is my current favourite in its class. The Mia might be a little cheaper as it’s a class below the Renault in terms of size though.
I've owned a Niro ev since march...beatiful car & works perfectly, but this ev3 looks like a real winner, & will be seeing it being "revealed" in Aug...if you can get them in black, I just might! Excellent video
Very interesting car but we've just got an Enyak 85 Sportline so will see how that goes. Partially agree with Volvo comments though would never buy myself as old Volvos were Swedish (& bulletproof), new Volvos are from Geely so basically Chinese & not for me for data security reasons 🤫
Ahh, man. I'm test driving a Volvo ex30 tomorrow. I'd discounted the Smart #1 because of the silly interface already. Can I wait for the EV 3? Or do I take the leap and go for the Volvo?
I’ve just driven the Volvo (briefly) this morning and it’s very good. And I do like the Smart. I think the interior of the EV3 is an easier transition from what you may have had before, to being modern enough to make a change. Plus Kia is always great EV brand. I’d be tempted to suggest holding off until you can drive it. I think this could be a real hit for the company,
I think I would wait for this. EX30 is a decent drive but I thought the interiors let it down. Everything on a touchscreen plus the version I test drove, well it just reminded me of a very dull easy to wipe down train carriage.
As Hyundai will not replace the Ioniq 38 (which I have on lease) with a direct replacement, this might be the car I look at, or its Hyundai sister when it comes. I am at the point of telling the leasing company if I want to keep my 21/21 Ioniq for another 6 or 12 months, and as only the Volvo and potentially the Megane floats my boat at the moment, it's a tough decision.
Thanks for showing this video. How are the seats both front and back. You must also have some experience from other Kia electric cars. Do you want to be able to sit well also on a long trip of 1000 km. When there is a photographer, you can take several close-ups of both exterior and interior details!!! Maybe it's my next car.
The seats seem to provide ample support that indicates that they will be good for longer drives. And I have driven Kias over longer distances that says that this too might be the same, but obviously we are all different, and I can't say for sure until I have driven it. And apologies, there is no photographer/videographer as I do all the filming too. But I will try to take more close up shots in B-roll. In my defence, I had limited time with the car! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
Wow, what an incredibly kind thing to say! I’m humbled, thank you. Thank YOU for watching and taking the time to comment. Your support is very much appreciated.
I've watched numerous EV3 walk-throughs and this is the best so far. Someday we will learn about the guts: what battery, what motors, what electronics. Maybe Sandy Munro will tear one apart.
Thanks Bryan. I think that the wife will be very happy with this, after her Niro lease ends. However, where does this leave the afore mentioned Niro in the Kia line up?
The Niro is slightly bigger and therefore a little more expensive. It goes from high £30k’s to just over £40k, whereas the EV3 is less than this. Then the EV6 sits above the Niro starting at mid-£40k’s.
There appears to be more interior space in this than the Niro thanks to the wheelbase in a smaller footprint as you are not paying the multi fuel compromise of the Niro, what’s not to like. I’d struggle to see who buys a Niro over this? Especially if this is priced lower
@@contraplano3157 that's such a shame. I own a BYD and I think that it's going to be really hard for me to swap to anything other than a blade style battery because of the safety aspects. Thanks for replying.
@@contraplano3157 10 years! That's great. Good for you! How's the battery performing now, compared to new? Some of those original NMC's are apparently really good. If you get a good one and treat it right that is!
All going well im going EV on the salary sacrifice scheme later in the year..volvo xc 40 is the choice so far, but this just might be the one if its released by then
@@Orange_ManbabyThe EX30 is hideous. Really cheaped out and with everything, and I mean everything, on one not very big screen. This car knocks the EX30 into a ditch.
It's always curious to see people in awe of SUVs WLTP range, when we all know that this range figure is obliterated by reality in the only context where it really matters : the motorway. SUVs have terrible drag coefficients and therefore poor efficiency. Sticking ever greater batteries in SUVs to make up for this is absurd, as it makes the SUVs even heavier than they already are...contributing to their poor efficiency in urban areas. To sum up : 1+1 = electric SUVs are an aberration. Please stop promoting them with such enthusiasm and never questioning their logic. No, the customer isn't always right. Especially when he is beguiled by the manufacturers to buy SUVs because they make a better profit margin off them.
You do raise a fair point, but what I will say is that Kia are great at making their cars extremely efficient. And Renault have really excelled at cutting weight out of their new Scenic. But as I said, your point is valid. Although I did manage reasonable efficiency from my BMW iX2 driving to Scotland on the M6 yesterday.
You need to check your facts on this car’s drag coefficient. It is actually better than the Renault Megane etech and exactly the same as the ID3. It isn’t a big SUV and it is streamlined.
It’s very streamlined. We had the designer of the car on hand to discuss how they had really focussed on the aero work in this car. Even the bits you can’t see (such as underneath) came in for close scrutiny.
@@AutoEV I honestly can’t say I’ve been in one for 18 months, however the test drive + being a passenger in the back seats put me off completely. It’s almost like the didn’t bother spending any money on the rear seat comfort at all. I can still remember the frame sticking into my legs and backside. The suspension wasn’t very good. Dacia Duster in case you need that info. I’m normal size and weight so not a being too heavy issue. Have a great weekend and thanks for replying
Oh, I took a Jogger Hybrid to Cornwall for a review on my other channel and absolutely loved it! I had my mother-in-law in the back too, and she fell asleep so comfortable it was! Well, looks like I’ll need to try the Duster now!!!
Dacias are probably the best value for money cars out there for those on a small budget. Not everyone can pay £40k for a car. In fact the new little Dacia Spring, fully electric for under £20k looks like a Yaris buster!
Waiting for colour choice. `Puce` is not my colour - more like puke to my way of thinking. Replacing my E-208 in about 12 months. So looking forward to actual prices then...
Sorry but I just can't see the design idea of this car. It has all the charm of a brick. Surely not very aerodynamic. Square wheel trims and wheel arches on a round wheel.
Very aerodynamic actually. Very clever use of sculpting of panels to improve airflow, and underneath it is especially effective at controlling the air.
I like the car, but have you seen 1 review, you have seen them all. It's so obvious that Kia have told all reviewers/youtubers what to say, and they all comply and tell the same story and praises the same things
This isn’t really a review. That’s why we don’t call it that. It’s a first view of the car in a studio, so we don’t have any driving impressions of the car. We can only go by the information we are given by the manufacturer, which details the technology and technical specifications of the car. So in many ways, you are correct, and until we get behind the wheel we can’t tell you what we think of the car in general. However, what I would say is that if we don’t feel the specifications were at class standards as a minimum, we would say so. In this case, the car impresses on this first impression. But please don’t take this as an AutoEV review. It’s a Sneak Peek. That’s all. The review comes later.
@@AutoEV Then there not to badge this ev With a G=Line licence plate. Again nothing GT in this blob. But I can understand you already forgot the licenceplate says
