I was living in Misawa Japan when me and my friend played this. The good’ol days.

I miss the days when all we had to do was walk side ways and beat the living shit out of anything that moved. You can keep your 6 billion polygons, thanks. I miss that crunch sound effect more than I'm ever gonna miss COD.

From what I gather from the storyline, Hack's sister was a news reporter, looking to bust Big Al's drug ring but got kidnapped by his henchmen. So him and Bild decide to take the law into their own hands and save his sister and bring down the crime syndicate once and for all.

Recién que me entero que Rival Turf se había basado en este juego (maldita censura de USA) a la versión gringa la descuartizaron completamente al quitarle las cinemáticas y la trama, su final (en su día) era uno de los más descepcionantes, siquiera en la versión japonesa se entendía que tenía que rescatar a su hermana y al tipo de gorra lo hicieron de piel morena (XDXD), acá ni siquiera se preocuparon en mostrar los créditos del juego y el código secreto... En su tiempo yo también jugue la versión japonesa de la 2da y 3ra parte, a ver si consigo los roms de las versiones gringas para hacer un rant... El plus de este juego era que a diferencia de Final fight podían jugar 2 personas. Buen video. Saludos.

I just love this game!!! The humour, the boppy musical that you can hum while beating something up, the RAGE mode. It's not perfect but it's not bad either. There's also a highly decent Open Beats Of Rage conversion of this gem that fixes some aspects up and it goes under it's original title "Rushing Beat" as well.

If Final Fight 1 wasn't single player only...this game wouldn't have been so popular. This was the only final fight alternative at the time on SNES so we all had to play until something better came out.

@marlboromike2100 Yes. Rival Turf, Brawl Brothers and Peace Keepers were part of the Rushing Beat series in Japan, in order. Stupid Jaleco America could not market them straight!

It's funny, the music for the name entry screen is only accessible from the sound test on the Japanese version.

It was known as Rival Turf 1992 in the USA I Owned it before but will buy it as Rushing Beat X when it recycles and Releases as Jaleco has recently revived as City Connection!

Basically Japanese version and rival turf American version. This version graphics smoother than snes.

The gameplay is identical between the U.S and Japanese versions of this game. The only game in the Rushing Beat series that experienced gameplay changes when brought overseas was "Brawl Brothers", which was grafted with tedious puzzle sequences.

This is why the Rival Turf games should have stayed in Japan especially Ultraman.

Has anyone else noticed that the game doesn't actually keep a points-score,but how many thugs you beat in packs of 10 on the upper left corner? I don't think i have seen this kind of scoring anywhere else.Too bad this feature doesn't make this game any better.

There are also differences in the backgrounds. For example the water moves in the second to last stage. The names are also really ugly in the American version. "Jack Flack" sounds so half assed and plain.

There isn’t more of a generic cookie cutter fighting game out there. I have this game in the collection but It’s mainly there for a novelty as it’s a pretty bad game. I played it once to the mid point level of stage 2 and I’ll never play it ever again. Who can take this game serious ahaha
