Lol and they didn't even update every texture in the game, only very specific one's! HAHA! Half of an up-scaled texture pack is able to be called a remaster in 2019. Sickening!
Whatchu talkin bout? They added a photo mode. That's totally worth removing the original version so you can sell only your overpriced remaster. For fucks sake, the Burnout Paradise remaster literally only added the DLC PC never got for $40, but at least the original game is still there cheaper.
Why are they charging 10€ for upgrading to the remastered version when the games look almost the same? Gearbox gave away b1 remastered for free if you owned the original one.
I hate this shadow sharpening. Shadows aren't sharp in real life! You'd have to stand directly under a lamp to cast a sharp shadow. Sunlight shadows are fuzzy! Don't the game devs ever see the real world?
Well, it depends. Objects closer to the ground aren't going to appear as soft as objects further away. The distance from which the shadow begins to cast and the surface directly relate to the amount that the shadow should be softened. But this can be very demanding for games to render properly, and soft shadows often appear with too much aliasing, ruining the effect.
This is pretty much why I always keep shadows to medium/low. The high shadows are typically too sharp, still don't look good, and take a lot of resources. I think Watch Dogs 2 was supposed to have pretty impressive shadows on high, but it's never really worth the performance hit to me.
@@Nick930 focused light, like from a flash light, can cause sharp edges to shadows casted. However, sunlight will always have fuzzy edges. This is because the light is not direct, and bounced from many other objects to hit one object
Thank you for always doing these videos Nick. You always display the best comparisons and your reviews are thorough and informative. I almost always watch them before deciding to buy a game. Keep it up !
idk if i'm just blind as a badger. But to me it seems like they removed the supersonic tail from the bullet-time. That (to me anyway) is a major downgrade
Thanks for covering this. Sniper Elite v2 is what got me into the series back in 2012. I personally don't like the improvements, seeing as the good ones aren't that dramatic and I think some (like the shadows with the hard edges) don't look as good. But I like that they spruced it up some because like you, I think this was more just a release aimed at current gen consoles. I think they just need more people playing the series and releasing this in an off year is good while they work on SE 5.
Totally agree, new sounds are utter crap.. they lack loudness and depth.. They could only improve like machinegun sounds a bit... making them even louder and more realistic sounding in full auto when NPCs go ham but instead they replaced it with even bigger bullcrap.. shame
Thanks for this nice video, mate! I played SE 3 for the first time recently and hated it so much that I couldn't get myself to even complete it. This looks more WW2-ish to me, and the setting is better as well, I might end up buying this now. :D
Very poor effort. Remasters should be done like the CoD 4 remaster. That game was pretty much rebuilt from the ground up. THAT is how you remaster a game.
I think in all honesty after playing through it recently myself, they used the gun sounds from SE4, also gave Karl the SE4 makeover as they are happy with his current character design, either way, they didn't want to mess with it too much, just make it look correct chronologically.
Thanks, you just saved me $10. I already own the old one but haven't played it yet(Steam backlog is nuts) and was considering getting the newer more polished version. But yeah, looks like that polish is sparse and paper thin.
Worth noting though: If you do own the original SE2 but none of the DLC the upgrade is going to give you a cheaper path to all of the DLC. SE2 remastered has all of the DLC included and the upgrade to remastered is cheaper than all of the DLC combined.
Hi Nick my friends and I were talking about some RU-vidrs while playing Rainbow 6 Siege just screwing around and my friend Cameron brought you up and I looked you up and found this video it’s the first one I’ve watch and I enjoyed it fairly good keep it up... also here is a 🍪 and 🥓 lol Reeces Peaces man
here's a little suggestion for a video (if you even take those): compare the battle royale game "cuisine royale" to some of the other battle royale games like call of duty's blackout or maybe pubg. the game is not quite finished yet but in my opinion it looks very impressive, especially if you consider that the game originally started out as an april fools joke. in my opinion it beats some of the games with bigger teams and higher budgets behind them (like call of duty) by a lot and might be worth a look. no matter if you even accept video suggestions or not I still love the content you make, especially since I'm looking to get into video game development and therefore have some projects about it in school and thanks to your videos I know some important things about the visuals that really help making our project look a lot better.
One thing you forgot to mention was that ALL the DLC is included within the price of the remaster. As an Owner of the original without any DLC the reduced price of the "UPGRADE FOR ORIGINAL OWNERS" of £6.99GBP is worth it possibly as that is around 60% discount on ALL the DLC albeit only really with a Texture pack.
@JanoschNr1 botox persons? Like wtf? Character looks better in remaster. In original, its to dark, the shadows are dark and unrealistic. Especially when you are on direct sunlight. There is no way that shadows on clothes should be so dark on direct sunlight.
@JanoschNr1 i am not alone. All comments say that upgrades are there, but they are minimal, and i agree with that. Even the maker of the video says that there are upgrades, but minimal and not worth the money.
NICK, for me SNIPER ELITE V2 is one of the best games I've played so far, I have this game for PS3 and the game impressed me from the first time I saw it in a gameplay and then when I played it. In certain moments it was difficult, because I didn't know anything about the game.
@@AlexS9403 Well if you go on legit websites it's 100% safe plus you won't waste your money by giving it to people that bought the key with stolen credit cards, encouraging money laundering in the process
Thx for the another video! Also have question - am I the only one who don’t get the idea of remastering more or less “fresh” games. I mean that concept of remaster is a cool thing and can give a new color to a faded star (take any game from 90s or early-mid 2000s) but making a remastered version of a pretty new game is not that sparking. IMHO, in certain cases remaster doesn’t make a huge difference (slight change in audio or maybe some polished skins) and it doesn’t blow a fresh air into it. I may sound stupid but that’s what keeps me puzzled for around 2-3 years or so
I think that it’s good that he has less hair than he did in the original, as this takes place during 1945 and considering that sniper elite 5 takes place during Normandy, I can imagine that he would have to be constantly buzz cutting his hair
the remaster could at least have hdr I feel after seeing the resident evil 2 remake all remasters/remakes need to model itself after that type of quality in a game
I started this game with 4 and I have to say, Rebellion has something here. I got V2 only because I have played 4 to where I have gone through all campaigns many times over and now I am past The Shadow and almost got the 2M to get the next rank, which I believe is the last. I thought v2 would be a good way to feed the addiction however they could have added some of the elements to 4 to it as to controls and handling of items. There was no reason to keep the primitive stuff from the old v2 as to whether Karl equips a grenade. Even shooting the gun is a learning curve. I hope Rebellion has 5 in the works and I hope it is epic. I want hours upon hours of gameplay. The other thing of 4 is the non-linear way you work campaigns. While the goals remain the same, you can choose literally hundreds if not thousands of ways to do it. V2 so far seems to be a linear game.
Your videos are really good! Well done for your work.. and as for the game I think it should have just ported to Nintendo switch. I think it was unnecessary to remaster it for other systems.
Thanks for making this video. I was about to buy the "remaster", because I love the game, but after this I won't. Its simply not worth it. Might as well buy the old 2012 version for PC, as its still sold on some game sites (Steam doesn't have it and I played this in the days, on PS3).
Omg finally some possible light in the darkness but if you're telling me they couldn't of fixed the AI in the original with a patch you're kidding yourself or are a total idiot.
Changes doesn't really seem significant, maybe it would look very different for people who played it on 360 or PS3. I never got to play it on the previous gen so would be a good opportunity for me to pick it up.
Personally, I dont know why they "remastered" this game. BUT I'm glad they did because I love this game. My fav of the series back in 2012, and still holds up very well today. It's been a blast playing through it again
The only thing I wished they had changed was the volume of the scoped breathing and some of the bullet clipping when shooting through "keyholes." Other than that, the original V2 was pretty spot on with everything else.
Truly it is controversial and real big fans of Sniper Elite franchise will love it no matter if its good old or remastered and I'm a big fan too, its my favorite game and honestly i kinds agree that the graphics haven't really changed much, but to me the sounds of weapons and environment are way better and also those nice benefits such as the new characters added, photomode and multiplayer now up to 16 players in lobby.
