Getting used to the heat in the summer is a lot easier for me. Most people don’t spend any appreciable amount of time outside in extreme heat or cold, so it’s hard to realize your body and mind can acclimate. Cold weather still sux though.

I'll give that a thumbs up. If someone is looking to have a shiny truck that looks good pulling up to the contractor door at Home Depot, then by all means go for it. But you're right, a work truck doesn't need to look good, it needs to get the job done. Plow trucks take a huge amount of abuse, especially in rural areas. It's not like plowing paved driveways in the suburbs. There are hidden stumps and boulders under the snow. Hell I cracked a frame on some frozen ground that heaved up once. I limped home, welded some patches and it's still holding strong four years later. One of my cousins bought a plow for his 2018 F250, he drives it like it's made of glass because a major hit will screw up his beautiful truck and cost a bundle. Useless.

I dont like messing around with getting the wood stove going so unless it's pretty cold I don't bother. When I do though I do it the same way every time. Crumpled newspapers, 6 pieces of firewood stacked 2 on 2 on 2, diesel fuel and blowtorch. Takes about 5 minutes and includes hauling the wood from the pile.

Always love to hear about this truck and your snow plowing ventures. We used to have a 1977 F150 Ranger plow setup that my Dad taught me how to plow in. Before that a 60s Jeep with the floor boards rotted out. Our driveway is about 1000ft so it was always a bit of a job to get it done, but nothing like that house on top of the mountain in your previous video. You need a Positraction Rear Axle to get unstuck better…like we do here in Northern Minnesota. Carry your FARMER HI-JACK and rope to rig a quick plug you out jack configuration. I would plow with an old articulating log-skidder with a heavy articulating plow attachment ….if you can find one. It seems that your plow blade of your fold over a lot. A larger unit with a larger plow would allow more build-up of snow to push aside. A one ton truck with a 2-3 yard box and single wheels rear works good in snow too. Duals wheels, in which the outside tires don't tract in front tire path on long pushes, have to fight the snow to make a path.. But a bigger truck means a larger and heavier plow to do a better job. Of course therfe are many ways to plow snow from a teams of horses to a large construction machine.

A Zip tie? Really? Figured you weld on a bolt and use a couple fender washers and a nylock nut. Looks like the battery positive terminal could use a little love.

Yes, perhaps a quick video on how to use a paste of baking soda to neutralize and remove battery terminal acid... cleam 'em up and apply grease as a protectant?

I do a lot of driveways like you do, I was always all about the straight blade plow. One day my truck was broke and I used a friends V plow. It sold me with in 2 driveways.. perfect for what you do. Food for thought. It will make your job a lot easier!
@capitolrefrigerationheatin7501
I know your not going to agree but in about 10 or 15 years your view of working in the cold will change, i keep my garage at about 45 degrees when working nowdays,but i was more like you years ago!

Andrew, I am a firm believer in the "acclamation process" to the cold. I spend countless hours in a tree stand hunting and let me tell you, when you cant move and your exposed to the wind day I n and day out you start to build up a tolerance to the cold. I will say as you get older a little heat is nice in a garage when your hands are exposed to metal tools but just a little is all you need. Spring is coming buddy and I cant wait to cut trees and get to work with excavating again. Good vid and stay safe.

@Andrew You have an "apartment" on the second level of your castle, right? What sort of heating do you use in the bedroom? Toilet? I wouldn't want to sit down on a below freezing toilet seat in the middle of the night........lol
