Sal forgetting that Wonder Woman 1984 came out in theaters and started the day and date release on HBO Max at the same time is funny. The Snyder Cut viewing numbers just proves it wasn’t as popular as some people claim it is since Godzilla vs Kong and Mortal Kombat along with other movies did better.
True. Albeit the Snyder cut is 4 hours long and is a remake of a not so great film which I am also sure has something to do with it. Mortal Kombat in contrast was like...2 hrs
@@koushikraja331 I’m saying that a lot of FANS of that ship is due to the show, of course I know the ship existed in the comics first. How many people that were kids when the show Teen Titans came out do you think were reading/had read the comics?
Every time Sal goes on his streaming rant it just brings me joy. especilly the look of contempt he had after the substack creator bit. Keep being the voice of reason Sal, we love you for it
Anyone who watched the original Teen titans show really like the Nightwing + Starfire pairing because it was building up in that show before CN dropped the show due to toy sales and their audience base changing slightly.. hence why we got Teen titans Go as a replacement.
Not anyone. I didn't care much for that relationship. I liked the one with beastboy and terra. And didn't really care for shipping. I was 12 when it came out. I didn't give a shit for romance and alot of others didn't. Either.
@@fragtical8540 ibthink what you mean is not everyone. And I would agree with that but just because you dont know ppl who liked that pairing doesn't mean that the fans for that pairing exist why else would it pop up again in the DC Animated Movie Universe and other places. Obviously cause ppl like that "ship".
@@BishopTDE I never wrote it didn't exist? Literally didn't. So maybe you should read my comment agian. I just said it's not the main thing people who were watching was thinking of. For most of them it was their first time seeing Teen titans. And for a very high percent, The audience was around 10-13 years old. Meaning that romance really isn't on our mind unless you are a female as they develop that instinct earlier.
@@fragtical8540 ok but neither did I lol. The point of the comment was to point out that fans of the old titans show still look at a Nightwing and Starfire pairing as favorable because it was what they saw building up in the show. Regardless of how popular or how often it occurred in the comic. A similar situation might occur with any fans of the JLU animated show might see Jon Stewart as the only GL even though in comics he is one of 6 human GLs
@@BishopTDE well no I didn't like Starfire in the show so I couldn't care less. I was more interested in the fights and anime artstyle than a fictive relationship because as I stated multiple times.. I was a kid when I watched this. Just because we grew up and it happened in the show doesn't mean it mattered to everyone lol. I know alot of my classmates at the time liked beast boy and Raven more because that's all they talked about for a year.
To play devil’s advocate, I think El Muerto could be interesting. It could be an homage to those old El Santo films, where he fights the supernatural like draculas or mummies. They could delve deep into Mexican history and tradition. Also highlights the fun acrobatic style of lucha libre wrestling. Maybe they could get Jorge R. Gutierrez (El Tigre, the Book of Life, Maya and the Three) to direct and Robert Rodriguez to produce. However, this is Sony. They will find any potential to make something interesting and screw it up. If they can get strong creatives like the ones I mentioned above, then maybe there’s a chance. But we know Sony will never do that.
Out of curiosity, why do you guys want Vader to be a mystery? We know 60 years worth of details about Doctor Doom. His family his origins, like 10 possible futures, and he’s still an amazing villain. Why is Vader different?
I think the difference is that he is already a solid character. It’s not that it would definitely be a bad thing, but it *might* be a bad thing. Why mess with it if it’s perfect? Additionally, over saturation is never a good thing - once you get used to something, the excitement becomes less and less extreme because it’s so normalised.
Starfire and Robin have been shipped by multiple generations of fans over decades because we keep seeing it! When I was a kid, Teen Titans, the big romance was Robin and Starfire, Titans vs Justice League, same relationship, except older, just because comics doesn't make it a thing ALL THE TIME, doesn't mean it isnt a thing
I find it funny that Benny said no one is taking about Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Then after everyone on Twitter was talking about the promo with Captain Carter and Xavier’s yellow chair. Also pretty much all of No Way Home got leaked while very little of Multiverse of Madness actually has gotten leaked.
I'm just sitting here wondering why Sony haven't even considered making a Mayday Parker Spider-Girl movie. Heck, she can be Tobey's daughter! If DC/Warner Bros is doing a separate Batgirl movie universe, surely Sony can do something with Spider-Girl, or Spider-Man Noir.
so I remember seeing Andrew Garfield in an interview about why he was fired from being Spider-Man. It had to do with a press thing with Sony executives, including the international ones and he couldn't make it to the event. If I remember right it was in Brazil, and he was jet lagged and had influenza so he literally was told by a doctor not to go anywhere or do anything. This insulted the executives so he was fired.
I’m just gonna put El Muerto next to Channing Tatum’s Gambit and Fox’s Dr Doom solo. Also Hulu is the dumping ground for Disney. I doubt we’ll see them bring Modok and Helstrum over to the Marvel section of Disney+
I think you guys aren't realizing that the people who grew up watching teen titans grew up with starfire and robin as a couple. For people my age who grew up post batman the animated series all we know is starfire and robin. Anything else feels wrong.
Sal and Benny just forgot about the super popular 2003 show that a lot of people grew up with. I grew up with it, so Robin and Starfire is what I enjoyed
With regards to El Muerto or whatever it's called. Just pull a "Blade" and make a movie that people don't really know is based on comics but interesting enough to be a "okay" movie on its own. Good enough
I can’t remember where Sal said it in the past but he’s gotta give Hayden Christensen some slack. He played Anakin EXACTLY the way Lucas told him to play, doesn’t mean he’s a bad actor
We need stuff to happen after episode 9 in the SW universe. Benny's right about the sony board meeting and a lot of other stuff. Great takeaways by Sal about Disney+
Netflix seems to have spent all their cash on content creation, and then had nothing for marketing. The former Netflix animation said as much when the walked back their original stuff. I mean if they could create a few shows like Arcane or Umbrella Academy AND market them properly instead of leaning on creators to do it for them, they could find a balance and make themselves sustainable. I mean I liked The Adam Project, but I never saw anything about it except for posts by Ryan Reynolds. They really have to also stop they're reliance on the binge model. Just doesn't work.
I hate Titans (the show), I think it's a huge waste of potential. But season 3 had a big foreshadow of Dick having a daughter with Kori. I thought it was a stupid moment, because it had no bearing on the plot and was totally out of nowhere but it did happen. Its been established Benny tends to forget details about these shows. No shade thrown, I think the show is ass, so I don't blame him.
Basing things off of a blurry image that is out of order with CBR wasn’t the best choice. Benny was right about Black Adam coming out on October 21st where it’s not the 31st.
I think Brenton is messing with fans about Kory and Dick I mean they showed Nightstar last season. And most of the fans of Titans are Kory fans lol they keep the hype going
Heart stopper is great but I only knew about the Netflix adaptation coming out because I read the comic and she promotes it there. Also I feel like Netflix is being carried by Anime.
Cinemacon is mainly to hype up movies for theater owners which is why they will usually get to see a couple of movies up to 6 months before release. They would have shown not just 20 minutes but the entire dr strange 2 if it wasn't for them being scared of leaks. The only youtuber I know who actually gets to go is John Campea, and probably because he has built up contacts at the various studios since the AMC days. As for the delays for the DC movies, Black Adam was pushed to october because they were not able to reshoot what they needed because Guardians 3 was filming at the location Black adam needed. And from the sounds of it the other pushbacks has purely to do with the fact that there are not enough VFX artist to finish them in time because even though they got to work through the pandemic it still created a backlog with movies who were planned to shoot all starting to shoot as fast as they could.
I actually enjoyed the irregulars, so I'm a bit sad. Part of Netflix's problem was definitely the advertisement. There were really good shows on there that never got promotions.
I'm no defender of the Snyder cut since I wasn't a fan of it - but it's silly to compare viewership numbers between The Batman and ZSJL/WW84 since there was > 13 million new subscribers over 2021. One could also argue that the 45 day window cut The Batman's legs since people inclined to watch the movie a second time knew they just had to wait a few weeks for their next opportunity, so that could have been what stifled The Batman's legs after the third week and contributed to high streaming numbers.
Yes I got my parents to get rid of cable in 2019. I got the premium no ads plan for Disney plus, Hulu, Max, Peacock, Prime, Paramount+, and Apple TV and it’s abt 40 less per month lol.
Netflix definitely has way too much content, most aren't even good and the good ones seem to always get canceled and not enough damn marketing on any of their content!
Please god, or Midichlorians, or whatever, don't let them give Darth Vader the The-Batman-Who-Laughs-treatment. Give him a cameo, and move on. Make his next appearance not be until A New Hope.
Well he is fighting Obi-Wan in the show which makes no sense with the dialogue in ANH since clearly that’s their first meeting since their original confrontation, but who cares about canon?
@@DanV900 Nonsense. If anything ROTS creates a massive plot hole. In ANH Vader says to Kenobi, "When I left you I was but a learner, now, I am the master." That doesn't line up with Kenobi maiming Vader and leaving him to die on Mustafar. Vader clearly wasn't in a position to "leave" anyone. He was "left". This show can fix that contradiction/George Lucas fuck up.
20:30 what Bobba fett show did you watch? He was a side kick in his OWN SHOW, that got less than 25% of said title? It was set up the spinoff and mandalorian s3 why the hell bother calling it bobba fett?
So to answer the In Space With Markiplier question, it's basically a more like a multiple choice game. It is also more like a play than a show (in the way people at) which is why it feels like overactiving
Weird idea for Sony: A Spider-Man themed movie or probably tv show called the “Osborns” that’s basically a crime drama featuring things like the goblin formula and loosely superpowers but obviously no Spider-Man. I mean, you can even just say he’s dead in this timeline. It could feature a bunch of different villains and characters from the mythos.
I disagree on Benny's rant on Darth Vader most people just want to see more Vader because most people don't read or care about comics or other stuff that's not videogames movies or TV shows animated or live action especially Disney stuff
If Netflix cancels "Disenchantment" and "The Cuphead Show" I'm canceling them. I'm guessing "The Dragon Prince" is canceled since there hasn't been an update in years...
The only reason I still have Netflix is because I'm looking forward to The Sandman and Umbrella Academy s3. If The Sandman show sucks I'll probably cancel my subscription, but I really hope it's good.
17:06 also a whole generation of DC fans that came up off of justice league unlimited and Teen titans . Also the newer kids who watch teen titans go. 😂
I see I'm an outlier cuz I didn't see Batman until it went streaming but it's because I was stuck working on my master's thesis and didn't have time to go to the theaters
Still waiting on HBO max in the UK I think we get it 2026 but I think prime is a strong streaming service if it's not on prime least you can buy it, can't beat RU-vid content creator's .
So why does benny not like Jupiter legacy? I mean it's cool I like it I found it nice to watch. It was a good drama with super people. Plus it's a Legacy so I knew it was just the beginning of a story. Though one think I did not care for was the split between the past and present. I think they started with the past and akward transition to present.but am not like benny who watch alot CW shows so Jupiter legacy was like my first super hero drama so that's probably why it's different from the both of us. But I do watch Netflix for anime and animation movies. Still need to watch season 4 of Lucifer.
A lot of people didn’t like the show and it was not critically well received either. If Jupiter’s Legacy was your first super hero drama, you have a lot better content in live-action available to watch whether it’s Doom Patrol, The Boys, or with the CW with the first two seasons of Flash and first two seasons of Arrow.
@@DanV900 I also liked the show either The power or just power. Well the not icecube one that was also an interesting super powered show where the hero lost his power and will do anything to get it back. The boys seem to violent and I like hearing my friend talking about flash&arrow I don't remember if I watched them maybe the first season of both but I don't really watch super hero shows I enjoy watching the animation cartoons or anime. Oh Gotham I enjoyed.
@@mikerosoft2179 I'll hunt it down I think I remember watching the first episodes review and I remember he enjoyed the flash back but don't cared for the action with super powers.
@@zerokura Well you might be referring to Powers which wasn’t critically well received either and was cancelled after 2 seasons. The comic, Powers, is great. The Boys is certainly violent where if you can’t handle the violence, it won’t be for you and I prefer the show over the comic. Gotham was a rough show to watch and isn’t on the same level as other shows. You should only watch the first two seasons of Flash and Arrow because those shows then get very bad. People like to say season 5 of Arrow is a return to form, but I don’t completely agree with that. It’s just better than seasons 3 and 4. The Supergirl season 1 episode called World’s Finest with the Flash team up is great where it takes place during Flash’s second season. Definitely watch the Invasion and Crisis on Earth X crossovers after those seasons of Flash and Arrow. The Elseworlds and Crisis on Infinite Earths crossovers stink. Season 1 of Black Lightning, Stargirl, and Superman and Lois are also all very good. Daredevil is a must watch on Disney+ and season 3 of that show is one of the best seasons of TV period. The first 6 episodes of Luke Cage are really good and then just quit watching it. It becomes really bad. The first season of Jessica Jones is very good as well, but the first 6 episodes are quite slow. There is a pretty violent moment towards the end of the show involving an arm in a sink.
13:26 also we're talking about a spiderman movie vs doctor strange The hype is naturally gonna be bigger in my opinion. Spiderman is a household name and a lot of people have immense memberberries for those older movies lol. I also feel like a lot of people believe the rumors involved with this doctor strange movie are a little bit too out there whereas a good majority of the ones for Spider-Man actually came true even down to the Andrew Garfield redeeming himself scene.
