So… Are we not getting Pikmin 4 DLC?  

PLEASE just give us New Game+ Nintendo! That's all I need to be satisfied.

There are rumors the next console will enhance switch games, so maybe these enhancements could give Pikmin 4 enough power to have actual 2 player.

i still think that we are gona get some kind of new pikmin 4 content in the near future considering that i keep notacing more things on the pikmin garden website that dont quite line up with the actual game, a prime example being 2 different captains riding on oatchi

Green Bean Pikmin DLC? 🤔

I want a New Game+ option where at least Oatchi’s upgrades carry over; a new difficulty option that adds enemies respawning after a set period of time (3 days?) among other gameplay adjustments; and a castaway obsessed with challenges that push Pikmin types to their limits. Let me do a 3 floor mini-cave that is entirely about pushing Reds to overcome their shortcomings or to showcase their strengths. And another mini cave for each of the other types (including Glow). And once you complete each challenge, you unlock an optional upgrade that makes them truly OP; Ice take 20% fewer to freeze a body of water, or Winged can now carry 2 resources at a time, or something like that. And once you’ve finished these 27 new floors (9 types, 3 floors), you get a final 3 stage gauntlet that ends with a rematch with a harder version of the Sirehound.

Yeah, the time for this is running thin. Like you said though, realistically there's an upside to either outcome. If we do get anything, I want extra Dandori-based missions in general. Battles sure, but also just the missions and stuff. I want this game to bully me while also showing off some fantastic level design.

It’s funny, I haven’t even considered the possibility of dlc till now. Would be pretty cool though. More than DLC though, I wish they would do an update where you can turn off auto lock. It feels tacked on and actively gets in the way of some of the challenge missions (like that one with 100 bugs and 5 purple Pikmin). I actually really like the aiming system on its own with the hybrid of classic controls plus motion to adjust your shot while holding the Pikmin. I thought that worked great with the 1 + 2 port for enabling motion controls on switch. It feels like it’d be so easy to just have a toggle in the options that you can turn off.

I still have a tiny bit of hope that DLC will be announced at next month's direct. Very unlikely but possible, especially given how incredibly dry the year is looking right now

I feel like they're going to make switch games backwards compatible. I believe that pikmin 4 will be relaunched on the switch 2 alongside new DLC.

The excavator from the pikmin short should be an area we can go through. It would be very cool, and it would be a way harder area

Excellent video. Pikmin 4 was so feature-rich, my guess is they'll prioritise Pikmin 5 now (which I do believe is underway).

Honestly as disapointing as it sounds, i dont think we are likely to get Pikmin 4 DLC.

My inner fan of pikmin wishes to receive more pikmin....but my treacherous consciousness tells me that pikmin 4 was so long for a reason and that Nintendo won't consider dlc just as with totk. I mean we had the main story in pikmin, then an extension with saving oatchi, then the olimar side story. I'm afraid Nintendo might consider it a complete game.

how is the three Pikmin limit hardcoded in the game when you can have more than three types in the caves?

I wonder if the devs ever considered leaving Olimar's Shipwrecked Tale and the Dandori Trials out of the initial release for later DLC. Because of abundant content already in-game, I'm almost inclined to believe that there won't be DLC, as much as I would enjoy new content. However, things like a 2-player mode and new areas could always be added in a future DLC.

Honestly what should we get for a Pikmin 4 DLC

Just imagine if Pikmin 4 had Online Dandori Battles, NewGame +, Dlc story mode, 2 player co-op and Pikmin amiibo support,but that's just my wishful thinking.

I hope when pikmin 5 comes out in another 10 years it'll see the return of our Kopaite trio.(the cool ones not the Pikmin 4 ones)

At this point, if we don't get a direct next week, It will probably be in May, and I do think the Direct will be full length but with no real focus. I think the Direct will be all about games planned to release in 2024 and new content for some old games, but no new console announcement yet. As for Pikmin 4, I can see a Small content update like Metroid Dread got for Boss rush and more difficulties (Easy and Dread mode). I think Nintendo might have save up content updates from releases of last year in order to make 2024 feel less dry on wraping up the Switch. So yes, there might be Pikmin 4 DLC but I don't have my hopes that high up. Finally, in Relation to switch 2, I think that console WILL be Backwards Compatible to the Switch as that's the only thing Nintendo can be ahead against compared to modern Home consoles. Backward Compatibility will also allow more room for games being released this year to shine and not just be DoA like the mayority of the Wii U library was for that console. Maybe Pikmin 5 will have tons of luck on releasing in a good pace unlike Pikmin 4 where they took a long while to release.

I feel like saying this game took entirely 10 years feels a little disingenuous. This VERSION of 4 has probably only existed for less than five years, mostly because you have to consider that the switch didn’t exist back then, and four was most likely supposed to be a sequel to 3. Lots of cuts and changes eventually made the original version obsolete so they built this game from scratch and made it a reboot.

We may get DLC but let’s hope not to get a switch 2 because if Pikmin 5 is on the switch 2 then we are gonna have a Wii U and Pikmin 3 situation where it doesn’t sell well. But hopefully we get DLC.

I don’t think we’re getting any DLC, but at least the game does feel pretty content-complete. I simply wish there were a hard mode, since the base game is really easy

The 3 Pikmin limit is not hard coded in the game. You can exceed that in caves already. Silly goose 🪿

Pikmin 4 doesn't feel like the kind of game that could easily implement dlc the way its set up, but it's always good to hope!
