I actually saw ‘Bright’. It was weird. Weird and bad and like, really racist? Like it wasn’t very subtle with the whole racism metaphor/lesson they tried to shoehorn. I think part of that was the point to then ultimately be like “we aren’t so different after all :)” (with his orc partner), but then also literally everyone was racist towards the faeries/fae. And no, that’s not the dumbest nor the strangest thing in that movie.

Love Bad Boys 1 & 2. It's kind of a requirement if you're Black. Shark Tale is my jam. Renée Zellweger has a perfect voice for an adorable animated fish. Seven Pounds is a beautiful film and one of the reasons my husband and I are together. I am really disappointed about the slap.

The example that I like to give to explain why rotten tomatoes is unreliable is to imagine a movie where every single critic gives it a score of 6/10. From me telling you that, you could conclude that it isn't a terrible movie but not a masterpiece. But since rotten tomatoes considers anything 6 and above as "fresh" it would give this hypothetical movie a 100%, which would give one the impression that it is a masterpiece. In other words, rotten tomatoes can reward mediocrity, while inventive movies that people either love or hate would get a score near 50. As far as review aggregates go, metacritic is much more valuable because it takes into account how positive/negative a review is.

here's my take: wild wild west whips ass. it's stupid as hell and has a couple... regrettable scenes but it feels like the mario movie to me: what the hell were they thinking making this, but also there's no other movie like this and it is very fun

Wild Wild West was a fun movie that I really like as a kid. Burger King even had the round sunglasses from the movies available and we definitely got them as kids and even have pictures with them on. I think his movies are either comedically driven or pretty serious which is interesting.

Pursuit of Happiness was my Shark Tales, my family had a DVD of it and I rewatched it every few days for months. Edit: ooh I'm glad you mentioned captain marvel because now I have an excuse to go on my cute little rant! Captain marvel isn't a great movie, it's pretty mediocre imo, but I don't think it's exceptionally bad? Like it's better than Iron Man 1 for sure! People are so overdramatic about disliking it, like it could be so much worse! It could be the first avenger 🏃‍♂️

It’s important to remember that the VAST majority of critics that contribute to the critic rating on rotten tomatoes are White Men. Not to say all of these are great and it’s all because of that, but it’s always important to remember that Rotten Tomato scores are definitely biased

I know what you mean about Spider-Man, and overall I tend to agree about superhero movies in general. But like, then I consider, like, their whole purpose is to be fun. Above everything else, I feel like that's their whole thing, their main focus. So like, I think if a superhero movie is fun, then by superhero movie standards they're good. I just don't judge them the same as I do other genres
