Just so you're all aware this mod can be downloaded straight from steam and I HIGHLY recommend it, it's criminally underrated for how good it is. However with that being said I do not recommend playing it on hard as whatever the creator did to damage values borders on sadistic. (as you can see in the video) Also If you're wondering why this mod is SO damn good it was made by Cayle George Ex-Valve employee who has one hell of a portfolio in the gaming industry.
Q: Why do they use bar soap in prison and not shower gel? A: You can hide things in plastic containers potentially full of opaque liquid far easier then you can hide something in a bar of soap.
All the rat commentary has made me realize, there totally needs to be a game where you use a trained pet rat to help you escape from prison or something.
There is. Sadly, it's a mobile/portable game called "Orcs and Elves 2" (both for NDS and Java Mobiles), there is a rat that help you with getting into small holes and help you escape whenever you get captured. Technically, "Orcs and Elves" just a reskin of DOOM RPG, more like "HERETIC RPG". Still worth a try, if you don't hate this genre.
I was so afraid that you gonna kill the rat, but no, you left him alive and even cheered him on his escape. Too bad he didn't probably survive that blast :(
15:30 the website listed on that V.A.T.S. book is an actual website set up by the developers that not only gives fun details about the turret system, but also a literal PDF about the Vocal Announcement System and patterns he could have pressed into it!
"Am I a danger to society?" Jolly asks himself after escaping prison for death sentencee, blowin up his cellmate, swimming through sewage, commiting genocide on wardens who willingly work at a facility with nuke under it's belly and, most importantly, helping a rat to escape
@@JollyWangcore Nah, fam, you Gucci! Btw, wanna celebrate your escape? I know a guy who owns a motel with this absolutely unique atmosphere: it's near ocean, so a fucktone of people are partying there all year around; there's insane level of automatisation, you'll literally forget doors need to be closed or open, some rooms even have it on toilet flush; the owner is this rich fuck who provides every guest with a free bathrobe, which we can even steal with us when we leave and he won't even bat an eye! Sounds good, eh? C'mon, dude, I know you gonna love it at Alkatraz!
im still waiting to see the stream condensed of these 2 mods that are a following story to BLue shift... the never played game by our fella with challenged mind until 2 mods suggested being a secuel.
I absolutely love the constant generic 80's action music playing in this mod, especially when it's played from a radio in the level when there's something rad happening or when you get the revolver, there's just something so funny about it to me
To be fair the pieces sampled in the mod make do sound a bit generic as they're looping and as such missing the progression and the different sections of the songs. But the music is genuinely good, my favourite album from Lazerhawk, Skull and Shark, do recommend it.
this was very inspired by the shawshank redemption as show in the environments but also from 80s pop culture like with the music and opening and ending
There's a few things you looked over with this one. Let's go through it! - This was originally a single map made for the collaborative map-pack Project: Quantum Leap (that's the 'PQL' mentioned in the Special Thanks section of the end credits). This release is a VASTLY expanded version of that single map. - The VATS system is actually a bit of a puzzle that requires you to actually visit the website mentioned on the manual. it involves finding the right A/B code to enter, which triggers a surprisingly funny sequence. Kind of a shame you missed it! - How dare you not mention the awesome soundtrack? - There's also a really interesting commentary feature - it works pretty much the same as in HL2, with usable icons added throughout levels. I cannot recommend this feature enough - it's wonderfully insightful into how the GoldSource engine works. - As others have mentioned, there's a few in-game achievements (which must have been a nightmare to implement) that unlocks a bonus level once completed. It's as high quality as you'd everything else here. - Hard is... yeah, the enemies are much, MUCH harder. There's also extra enemies that aren't present on lower difficulties, which is rare for Half-Life mods.
Oh God, Jolly decided to kill himself doing the subtitle thing on a 30 minute video When will you learn, Jolly? When will you stop hurting yourself like this? But thank you this was flawless and beautiful *chefs kiss*
It's a pretty common expression in the English-speaking world. Though I guess it probably caught on in the US first, since it's had a large German population since before it was even a country. (EDIT: By "it" I meant the US, but I guess it also applies to Germany, now that I think about it.)
Imaging being the guard at 24:13 A prisoner with a plunger PLUNGES out of the ventilation shaft then proceeds to PLUNGE the rubber end of the blunger in your face repeatedly, panics, attaches a sticky adhesive laser tripmine to your body armor, which proceeds to fall off.
No, all the songs used in C.A.G.E.D had been around for a while before the mod was made, i know this as one of the songs used is King of the streets and that was released in 2013 while this mod was released in 2017.
@@pirig-gal Yes but that's not what Klot meant, he said Lazerhawk made the soundtrack for the mod and i simply said that no, those songs were already around prior to this mod.
I love looking in the bottom left corner during jump cuts and just seeing the health drop from 80 to 20. It’d always make my mind think, “how did jolly fuck up this time?”
24:15 Jolly was scared by the guard. Jolly put tripmine on the guard by accident. Guard didn't give a shit and kicked tripmine. Trip Mine glitch exploded in the background. Jolly: What the fuck did I just do.
Nope. Kicked him for melee, tripmines placed on NPCs just drop back to the ground at arming time as an item, that's why he picked it back up. Someone threw a grenade.
What really makes me enjoy the mod is the fact that it's retro. I'm a big fan of 80's synthwave and old movies and this is a perfect mix of it and the fact that it runs on goldsrc is even better.
22:19 I will not rest in this lifetime until i've found a situation where i can say to someone with 100% sincereity "Will you trade your freedom for your delicious banana?". Honestly the best line i've heard all year.
Jolly you gotta go back to the room with the announcement system and visit the website listed in the manual. That's all I'm gonna say, you have to see for yourself what happens.
8:48 Andy DuFresne crawled to freedom through five hundred yards of shit smelling foulness I can't even imagine, or maybe I just don't want to. Five hundred yards... that's the length of five football fields, just shy of half a mile.
I've played Half-Life and its mods for decades. This one is especially mind-blowing, really nice job. I know how hard it is just to use Hammer to map, must've taken ages to make this.
it's weird to say this, but thanks you jolly, although just watching your videos, it has help me overcome some of the worst time of my life, i use to have severe anxiety attack, now it's just a normal... anxiety but i feel better everyday, thank you for the great time
Jolly is the kind of guy who would end up in prison saying "E" to other prisoners for tasks. "Pick up that can." EDIT: I've decided Jolly is instead the kind of man who would end up in the laundry room saying "PAWNCH" and "KYICK" at a paint can with a face drawn on it.
This was awesome. I love this fuckin game and I love seeing new content for it. I just discovered this channel but I really really enjoyed the commentary and you can really tell this guy has played this game alot and enjoys it alot. Aboslut love it
