J.K. Rowling has recently been the center of discussion surrounding her liking and following of transphobic and specifically TERF related content on Twitter. Does this make her transphobic? And what should we say to her?

watching the end of this video in 2023 is so sad, i wish we could go back in time, figure out how she came to these stupid conclusions about trans people, and help her not to be a terf. i wish i could still read my childhood favorite books without the knowledge that their creator would probably hate me for something i can do nothing about

Coming back here just to see where this all started and how you were discussing it back in the day. Rowling sure does hold her phone wrong a lot these days, huh. I'd argue her phone holding has gotten way worse. I wonder what way you have to hold a phone in order to accidentally Tweet that people should burn their pet dogs if they don't like Harry Potter video games (maybe I shouldn't joke, but it's easier just to laugh at this point rather than cry). It's so sad that her and her fans just want to portray her enemies as only cruel destroyers when I see things this compassionate were among the first responses.

I find that a lot of people across all artistic genres are daily confronted with the conflict between artist and the art they create. Not long ago one the frontman of one of my favourite bands had a blowout because some things came to light. Namely his harassment and foul treatment of an ex-partner in the wake of their tumultuous breakup. Now, I can understand that situation and generally reserve some judgment because I think we have all been there, regardless of gender. We all have that one crap way we acted. But when it was exposed, his response was such a disgusting dismissal that it became clear that supporting him couldn't continue. A number of artists (including a close friend) pulled as supporting acts from the band's tour, expressing their disgust. It broke my heart, but I had to do the same. I stopped listening to their music. This is a band that made music that kept me alive at some of my lowest moments. And now I had to reflect and decide how I could proceed - what was more important to me? My sentimentality or my values? I imagine that, in discussing JK Rowling, many are having similar feelings. IMHO I think that it really does come down to sentiment v values. Can you reconcile supporting the art of an artist who opposes your values? Can you support the art of a person who refuses to acknowledge you? In life I've had to make personal choices like that often. I've had to choose against friends who espoused visceral hate for everything that I am. (One such person I hadn't seen in a year, and when we reunited had become a neo-nazi. I'm a queer man. That hurt a hell of a lot.) I have had to do the same even within the small queer community I was able to find. The biphobic slurs and behaviours were soul destroying. Today, I know I'm queer. Back then I was still wondering whether I was gay, straight, bi or something else. Those experiences are worn like scars today. I'm not proud of them, they remind me of a lot of pain. And maybe I'll never really be able to grasp my whole identity. But I do know today that I can't identify as anything other than queer - because I either don't know how to express it or because expressing it binary terms feels like a noose. Ours is a life of heartbreaks that we need to reconcile with and find ways to navigate. I wish it weren't the case, but it is. I'm not trans, but I can empathise with those struggles. I can see my own struggles reflected back at me - in my search for meaning, in my journey to defining my masculinity on my own terms, in my search for truth in my sexuality. In my identity as an individual, not a chameleon desperately trying to blend in with all of his surroundings. TERFS are the great irony of left politics in isolation. That is that left-wing politics have metastasised into reactionary bigotry. But that is not radical feminism. Radical feminism continued on - from it we have intersectionality. Moreover, radical feminism lived and permeated through queer politics. From the moment the Mattachines turned against their 'homophile' roots, from Stonewall to the GLF and onward. Our movements and women's movements have survived and sung "the personal is political." Queer politics have always represented the oppressed - we have always protected and enshrined the rights of women, workers, ethnic minorities and more. Sometimes this community forgets those things. Whether it's JK Rowling's baiting, or Dan Savage's charismatic dismissal of trans and nonbinary people. Either way, I'll stop that rant with a quote, "We believe that it takes a strong back and a soft front to face the world." I appreciate your channel a lot, Jessie. My youtube feed is full of reactionary men who recoil in horror any time left wing politics are manifested in games, television and film. RU-vid is insistent on barraging me with these foul people who don't speak to who I am at all. I love your videos about Star Trek, because they don't pretend that the series is not grounded in difference, hope and a better world. I've always thought that communities based around consumer goods are generally vacuous. But seeing your channel reminds me that these conversations happen across all platforms. This is my first comment on one of your videos, I think. Goddamn it was long.

@@JessieGender1 Actually, it sounds more like "Muggles can't be Wizards". The only difference between so called mudbloods and pureblood wizards is ancentry. But the thing that defines a wizard (being a magical human) is common to both. While a muggle can never be a Wizard. I'm not agreeing, but the comparison is flawed. It's like saying: "Saying that lions can't be tigers is just like saying a trans woman can't be a woman."

@@JoaoPedro-gc8mw regardless of arguing over the specifics of analogies, the "gender critical" position breaks down if it comes to an XY individual with androgen insensitivity syndrome, because they develop identically to cis women externally. But they do have testicles, not ovaries. There is no explanation you'll be offered which is logically consistent with other stated views, most get very spiritual instead. But then... the argument for being trans is based solely on the sense of self, and that can be very spiritual and ungrounded too. There is no position that doesn't require some level of cognitive dissonance.

I only recently discovered your channel. I hope that you are doing better. It appears so from more recent content. The realm of fantasy is filled with examples of gender non-conforming sentient beings and transbeings. I hope that Rowling has evolved in her understanding of trans issues and how her silence can speak as loudly as words. To be fair, and to my own personal shame, I truly did not understand trans issues and suspect that had social media been more prolific in my youth, one would find transphobic "jokes" or memes on my page. You would think that a mixed race, atheist, queer left-handed person like myself would have been more understanding and accepting in my teen and college years, but I wasn't. I am proud to say that I have learned a lot and continue to learn more about trans issues and do my best to apply compassion and consideration in my social interactions. I never know if the person with whom I am speaking may be a trans person who is still in the closet. Hopefully, Rowling can make the same transition. She is only about 10 years older than I am, so I don't think her age is an excuse.

I think part of the reason this is such a big problem in the UK is that a lot of people who grew up with Germane Greer and Julie Bindle as feminist icons are struggling to put their opinions about trans people in a proper context. For decades Greer and to a lesser extent Bindle etc. were the authority on gender and sexuality in certain circles in the UK.

My comment may seem pretty violent and I am sorry cause you seem like a smart nice person and I really don't want to hurt you, but I think there is just a lot of elements that us (feminists) cannot always understand.. Like everytime I try to find informations about how and why ppl decide to change of gender (not necessarily surgery, but civil status and everything) what I hear in the testimonies sometimes really confuses me.. Like trangender women basically saying "when I was younger, I was playing with dolls and I loved pink, unlike the others boys etc" which in my mind really tends to associate feminity with pink, dolls and all of the clichés we have learnt very hard to fight (I heard similar testimonies for trangender men saying they hated wearing dresses, pink, etc) In my mind (again I am sorry if it is painful for you to read), it feels like there is this binarity imposed by a patriarchal society, hetero centered that says "all right girl if you like cars you are a boy" "all right boy if you like dresses, make up and pink you obviously are a girl", wtf? To me a man wearing dresses or make up or heels is not less of a man or anything, that's why if I come across one person who seems to be a man wearing a dress, I am not gonna call them "she", because what if it is just a man that loves to wear dress? Why should I lock him into the idea that you have to be what is expected from your gender or change it ? I also heard about ppl identifying to a gender without showing any sterotypical trait of this gender but I could never find any testimony (if you have one, I'd love to hear it) but do you understand why it is confusing when you have been feminist for years ? Also, gender social construct, different for boys and girls throughout education is something that has been studied by feminists for years, and it is hard to imagine that a child who had been educated as a boy could lose everything they got from this education, same for trangender men who were educated as girls. Eventhough the child may have already not feel part of the gender society gave him, obviously the way ppl talked to him/her had an impact on its development in the longterm. And we know how boys are raised to be dominant, competitive, to monipolize the space, to be the center of the attention, etc etc when girls are raised to be passive, sensitive, quiet, supportive, discreets.. I don't have the official stats but I am pretty sure that if you compare the rate of violence of cis-men VS transgender men you realize that transgender men are probably calmier and less violent not because they are not men, but because they weren't raised as ones, and this counts. Same thing applies to transgender women (to my opinion), who were, at the end of the day, raised like boys All of what I said do not deny the additional discrimination and suffering caused by the very fact of being trangender, I am only trying here to explain why some feminists are confused about transgenderism, though we are not always as radical as "terf", we are just looking for answers and precisions (Sorry about my english, I am french)

Lila Salmi A lot of us go with the Barbie doll anecdote, because it’s one of MANY signs of being trans, and It’s the best way to get this across to cishet normies (excuse my use of that word). These signs also include puberty dysphoria, voice dysphoria, etc. Being a gender non-conforming man is not the same as being a trans woman. I can’t speak for all trans people, but what I want is to lead a normal life as a woman and not have my transness be a constant topic of conversation. I like things that are both gender conforming and non-conforming to women (eg: I like makeup, cute tops, and dresses), but I also like American football, hockey, etc. The main introspective incongruence is with my figure, voice, and receding hairline. No matter how much society accepts me, I’m going to have to deal with that. No matter how much I like NASCAR, American football, and cheeseburgers, I’m going to have this dysphoria, and it’s going to eat me unless I transition. From the outside, I have people policing my gender, saying “REAL women don’t watch sports. REAL women know how to cook.” And from your side, all I hear is “trans women conform to gender norms.” I see that as my inability to deal with misogyny from the former’s side, since my male upbringing didn’t train me properly how to see it, but now I see it all the time. When people say “biological sex is a reality,” to us, what we hear and the message that comes across is “Being trans is just a dress-up game for adults. Grow up, you pathetic piece of shit.” Being trans is fucking tough. I’m glad you’re willing to come to the table with an open mind.
@GalaxyGal-

Jake Dean That is a fabrication and a dangerous lie. Try learning about us first. Nobody does this for shits and giggles. People spend years of their lives debating whether or not to transition. Please don’t cheapen OP’s integrity with blatant mischaracterization and lying.

I know this is a very old video at this point, and I may have already commented on a letter one, but your point about her lack of response (at that time) stuck me as pertinent. In court Americans can plead the fifth amendment. That by answering a question they will incriminate themselves, and while ROWLING isn’t in court, or american, she has grown up in the culture of “no comment” with regards to embarrassing press inquiries. Politicians do this all the time in the UK. Instead of admitting fault they just avoid the question. Plausible deniability I believe is the expression, if she hasn’t said out loud “yes i am a terf” then she can be one privately and still pretend she isn’t publicly. That’s Slytherin level duplicity. What has transpired since has made it clear her publicist was trying damage limitation by keeping her views private. But by engaging terfs via a public platform, that was just so transparently misleading. I baulk at calling her a transphobe as suspect at some point she may sincerely have had an open mind on the topic. But her actions are transphobic and that is inexcusable for an lgbtq+ ally.

my fav thing to do when a writer/artist/director/musician/actor has said or done something i disagree with, i cope with that by furiously reading or writing fanfic on that specific issue to spite them. maybe it isn't very productive, but it helps me let go of that anger, and do a brutal death of the author. (also helps me to stop spreading misinformation, in the cases where the allegation isn't true or it's an old bad thing they've already apologized for. in jkr's case that's prolly not the case, but it still helps me manage my anger).

Would it not be possible to be completely in love with the Harry Potter universe and not know (or care) who Rowling even was? What if we find out years from now that Alija Wood did something disagreeable? Or Patrick Stewart? It's fair to criticize the art of artists we hold dear but it doesn't diminish what they've accomplished. It's difficult for me to reconcile William Burroughs' life and who he was as a person with Naked Lunch, Junkie and Wild Boys but he's still the greatest author of the 20th century in my opinion. Just know that you, personally, are loved beyond measure.

I'm a cis straight woman, but I try my best to be an ally and advocate. I've been feeling so torn and heartbroken over the past few days for exactly the same reasons you talk about here. It's painful to think one of our idols is made of mud. I wish she would just say once and for all what her stance is. So many of us have wrapped our lives up in the things we love - such as the Harry Potter stories - and use them to get through hard times. But we also want to see the the people we love treated with fairness and respect. To think someone like JK Rowling, whom I've admired so much for so many years, would do or say something to hurt one of my Trans friends or family members breaks me up. I can't wrap my head around how she can advocate for equal treatment of all but then turn around and like cruel, hateful tweets or follow those who would post them. This is why I wish she would come out with an explanation. I dread that it might be the one we don't want to hear or that it might sound so false we won't be able to deny her true feelings anymore. But not knowing one way or the other about what she really thinks is so frustrating and confusing. I want to believe it's just that she's curious (as an author should be) about how different people think and act. But I worry that that's not all it is.

Hi Jessie, loved your video on women. I think you may have the wrong idea about Rowling, because of my own personal experiences. From what I can see the extent of evidence against Rowling is that she once liked a transphobic article on twitter (which she later said was a mistake), and that she has followed people on twitter who predominantly comment on feminism, but have also said transphobic things. I don’t think this is enough to suggest Rowling is transphobic for three reasons. 1. I used to follow a feminist organisation that I really respected. (I’m still a massive feminist). Years after I started following them they started saying transphobic things. BUT there was a long gap between them being transphobic and my realising it. That’s because the majority of what they wrote had nothing to do with trans issues. I read their material for a long time before I came across is because they wrote about it quite rarely. I don’t mean to excuse the transphobic things they have said at all, merely to point out that a person may follow them without knowing about it, if it’s not the main thing that person writes about. 2. Rowling has barely been on social media at all. If you look at her twitter page, she has posted nothing but an ad for the Cursed Child since mid March, 2 or 3 things that month (mostly Rugby results) and pretty much nothing else since mid Jan. She hasn’t even liked anything. It looks like she hasn’t been on twitter at all. So anything people she follows have said while she’s not been on there may not be a reflection of her views. There’s not much evidence she’s even seen it 3. Her silence can’t be taken as an opinion when she is being silent about everything. The Brexit crisis has intensified, I know she despises the current PM, yet there are no comments from her. She’s clearly not discussing any social / political issues at this time If I’m getting the wrong end of the stick I’m sorry, but I think there is not much evidence of any opinion Rowling has on trans issues, certainly not enough to believe she is for or against trans rights
@JessieGender1
@JessieGender1 4 года назад
Bombshell Musical for sure! I certainly understand and agree with pretty much all of your points. I think the issue that I have, and I tried to talk about it in the video, is that her lack of action on the issue. Because it’s clear that she knows about it. She’s been asked about it directly and through her press people. She’s also been called out on this by many high profile websites and organizations like Medium or The Advocate. Yet she continually remains silent on it. Which I totally understand is not the same as endorsement of TERFs, but again, for a woman who is so vocal about social issues and trying to help others, for her to remain silent on this when it’s clear she’s aware of it, feels like she’s just not saying anything to avoid the controversy that would happen if she shared her (what I’m assuming are based on her actions) transphobic views. Again, as i state in video, I hope hope hope hope hope I’m wrong. If she comes out and says “I support trans people”, I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong and be so happy for it. But from the evidence before me (silence mixed with subtle signaling of support for a prominent anti-transgender “feminist” viewpoint in the UK) its the impression she’s giving. And that can be hurtful and even damaging in some contexts. So I hope I’m wrong. But she hasn’t made it clear I (and the many others who have called her out) wrong yet, even if it would be so easy for her to do so with just a simple statement.

I'm not of that generation that grew up with Harry Potter so I don't have an emotional connection to Rowling but I was, and still am, angry with her. The queer baiting mentioned in this video which Rowan Ellis goes into in great detail in one of her videos, the attack on Corbyn, and now this, supporting that awful Magdelaine person and TERF's like her, Rowling is no ally to me on any level that I can think of!

I strongly disagree with your conclusions, but just as strongly agree with most of your views in general. To me a transsexual is the gender he/she has always been on the inside. Not a poor copy of one - the real thing. Uncapable of having children after an operation - but the ability to have children do not define someone's gender. I see - in general - no areas in society where a transsexual should be threated any differently than the gender he/she identifies with. BUT, and I bet you could see that BUT coming, there are aspects of the situation of having been a different gender that has to be taken into account at times. I can't imagine a more shameful part of the gay community than TERF. The only thing that comes close must be gays actively fighting against the right for gays to get married, with the argument that they do not want the gay community to create a blueprint of the straight community, but instead create their own. Not understanding that it's not about marriage at all, but the principles of choice - and that all people should have the same rights and obligations. That being said the article JK Rowling liked seemed to have been - and arrest me if I'm mistaken - the one issue of being honest with your past. I must agree with that, even though I understand how hard that is. The feelings around gender, when it comes to sexual desires, are crazy strong. And so, the shock you get when learning you are having sex with a former man or woman, is extremely uncomfortable for some. I do feel that no one has the right to make people feel that way, and so I STRONGLY disagree with you branding JK Rowling as transphobic for that reason. You do not OWN this ethical dilemma because you are a trans person. Because the one you have sex with in this case is NOT. He/she owns part of the answer to this dilemma whether you like it or not. There are also other issues where trans people need to back down and open up to see the whole picture. Beauty pageants are not the most important activity of this world, but it has been a debate lately. I am myself FOR letting transwomen participate in a pageant at the same level as a woman who is born as a physical female. BUT (yeah here we go again) - IF the pageant demands that no contestants have undergone plastic surgery, you can not enter a trans person who have operated on her face. It gives her an unfair advantage. Not all trans people has the need for this though. Depends how early you started the transition - I guess. It's not a politically correct thing to say, but again - you do not own the answer to this. Everything JK Rowling has publicly stood for demonstrate a good heart and an open mind. There is NO way she is anti-trans. She just doesn't agree with you on this issue (if your claim is right). I'm sure you'll find many trans people who agree with her. NO single member of a group - whether it be trans or gay has the right to publicly claim to speak for the rest of the group. Ironically we are a very heterogenic group of people. Hugs from Thomas / Gay dude from Norway

Hmmmm this is how I try to make sense of it all ... the fact that she was able to write this amazing series about standing up for marginalized people and teaching that love and justice are the most important things ... and her transphobia ... those two things are opposites in my opinion. But, I think of it as her writing Harry Potter was her accessing a deep wisdom inside of her and putting it down in the form of a book. So, maybe there were little clues in the books that she didn’t even realize or intend at the time. Not that she had no part in creating it and just copied words without understanding, but that her inspiration was something so much bigger than her. Humans are not perfect and I hope that one day she can learn. I think a lot of transphobia towards trans women is based on the deep belief that any person who has body parts that are seen as male is by nature a sexual predator. Ie. that any man (I am not saying that trans women are men but am trying to see this from the perspective of the hater) is capable of rape at any given time and cannot be trusted, just do to the fact that they have a penis and higher testosterone levels. So, this is very wrong thinking and not feminism. Predators are aware of what they are doing and not all men are capable of rape, no matter how convenient it would seem. Rapists are sociopaths and manipulative and hate women and this does not describe all men. They get pleasure from harming others and a lot of ppl don’t understand this and just think it’s bc they are men and they can’t help it. Anyway, I think that this transphobia towards trans women stems from a deep fear of men and misunderstanding of rape culture. Trans women = women, not men.

Recently, J.K. Rowling said that Ron is a transgender. *facepalm* That's not how it works! What's done is done & there's no changing it after you just finished something! First she said that Dumbledor was gay (right after he died), then she said that Hermoine was black (when she never mentioned it from the beginning & it's too late to change it), and now she's saying that Ron is a trans just to be more "edgy" (even though once again, it's too late & everyone knows that Ron is a boy).

Can I self identify as a billionaire and therefore have a billion dollars deposited into my back account so I can be my true self? Is transgenderism a religion or a medical condition? I see homeless folks literally dying in the streets and they can't be considered trans wealthy as a solution?
@aceofblades6574
@aceofblades6574 4 года назад
It begins with a mental illness called 'gender dysphoria', which is the psychological feeling of not being the right gender and not being in the right body. These people who have gender dysphoria actually HAVE to be treated for it by transitioning to the point that they feel most comfortable. If untreated, gender dysphoria can lead to severe depression and other mental illnesses, and they can possibly become suicidal. So no, it is not a religion. I can understand your confusion, but comparing this to one's wealth and homeless people is completely missing the point of both issues. Homeless people need very different types of help and support than just 'treating' them by giving them money, they also need to be able to have a job so that they can earn their own money, since just relying on people giving them money isn't reliable at all in the long term, and they also need to have shelter and eventually be able to afford their own home. That's why there are a bunch of homeless support organisations popping up, and hopefully there will be more and they will all continue to increase their successes. Also, 'transwealthy' means something completely different to what you think it means, so please look into that. Finally, no, you cannot 'self identify as a billionaire and therefore have a billion dollars deposited into your bank account so you can be your true self', that's just insulting. I invite you to please do more of your own research into the issues of transgender people, gender dysphoria, mental illnesses as a whole, as well as homeless people, finances and economics.

@@aceofblades6574 Well giving people in poverty free access to society and every measure of compassion and assistance that I now see being so compassionately legislated for the trans community would help. I feel that most poor people are born extremely wealthy but they have had their value siphoned from them through the use of money in general. Many people experience extreme financial dysphoria when they work day and night and still cannot seem to pay for their basic needs and wants. I invite you to look around the world and acknowledge that all life has value not just the people who have figured out how to keep the money flowing into their bank accounts. Lack of resources and funds causes suicide, mental illness, drug addiction and death at far greater rates then gender dysphoria.

@@karellenstephens6318 I don't think you realise that a lot of what you have just said is pretty much the same thing that you already said, and that I already replied to. Also, ummm, can you stop trying to prove your point by saying things like 'transwealthy' and 'financial dysphoria'? None of those are official terms used because they are pretty horrible at describing the financial situations that someone can be in, and they are actually kind of insulting to people who live in such financial situations. And yes, I am aware that all life has value, thanks. Like I said previously, these two issues are vastly different and thus need very different ways to fix the issues. Saying that the only way to help the poor and homeless is to stop using up resources for the trans community is, frankly, idiotic on so many fronts, considering that there actually aren't many resources used FOR the trans community anyway, since this all very new. I think you should be throwing these arguments somewhere else, where it would be far more useful and logical. What you're suggesting won't be helping the poor and homeless at all. And finally, in a number of countries, the LGBTQ+ community is typically the minority group with the highest rate of suicide. Like I have already said, please educate yourself on these issues properly.

And honestly you act like you know so much abut the trans community yet you don't seem to know that gender dysphoria is no longer considered a mental illness. So really whose putting folks in a box? I didn't say resources should be taken from the trans community but simply pointed out that all people are worthy of having access to all services being provided on the planet. I don't care about official terms. What does that even mean? The fact is poverty kills. Especially in communities like the one you claim to be defending. Or are you just interested in defending the money? I can't tell.

@@karellenstephens6318 . . . I have literally never said that I care more about one issue than the other, nor am I 'defending the money', if you think that I am, please quote me an example of me doing this and I'd be happy to explain what I was trying to say further. These are both very serious issues, and I agree that while the issues of transgender people have been at the forefront for a short period of time, issues regarding the homeless and poverty have been around, and very well documented, for a very long time, centuries even, and yet it is still such a massive issue today, which is a massive failing of society. All I have been trying to do here is explain that saying that transgender people and homeless people can be put in the same category (which, whether you meant it or not, is what your first comment was implying), is harmful, perhaps even more so for homeless and poor people, because what you were suggesting in your initial comment would be extremely bad for homeless people to do so, since it is extremely financially unstable, not only for the homeless themselves, but also those that they are receiving money from. The moment something went wrong, they'd be pretty much screwed. While I agree that there is a horrifyingly bad distribution of wealth in the world, and that seriously needs to be fixed so that we can stop homelessness and poverty, we need to make sure that in the long run people don't become homeless again because they didn't have the right support system. That is what I have been trying to explain here. I agree with you that homelessness and poverty are very serious issues that with all of the other equally as serious issues going on, they sometimes fall into the background, which shouldn't happen. P.S. I don't try to pretend to know everything about the issues of the LGBTQ+ community (though I know that I ramble a lot, haha), but I tried to give you as much of an informed response regarding that as possible, and was trying to also be respectful to those close to me who have far more experience regarding LGBTQ+ issues, and still call gender dysphoria a 'mental illness' rather than a condition that can lead to one, or a multitude. Thank you very much for the correction though. And no, I am not trying to put people into boxes. People are still people, no matter what they may be dealing with, mental illness or otherwise, and they are all capable of incredible things. :)

I am a lesbian and I have no problem with transgender people. There's a big difference between your physical genitals and your physical brain. I see the battle that trans people are having at the moment as being similar to that of the gay community in the 1980's. Acceptance is growing, but it's slow and will take a generation or two before trans people are accepted in the same way as homosexual people. Not that it's easy sometimes! I got kicked out of my home when I was 15 by my Xian family, and I haven't looked back. It's been tough, but my life has been better for being away from that hatred. Luckily I now live in a country (New Zealand) where acceptance is very strong. Just this week Christ's College in Christchurch - an all-male school - agreed to allow a trans-female student to stay there and study even as she continues to transition. (It's not all roses - NZ has its fair share of idiots - but the general public are much better at supporting the LGBTQ+ community than a lot of places.) I find those TERFs and Feminists who say "all" men are bad are simply stupid. It's that same kind of mindset that conservatively religious people have, and it's ugly and poisonous. I understand your struggle Jessie, and want you to know I support you. I love that you're a huge Trekkie like me and I love the content you create. BTW, I highly recommend the TV series Euphoria. It has a transgender girl in it played by Hunter Schafer (who is trans in real life - yay! for actually casting a trans person to play a trans person!) and her character of Jules is absolutely brilliant. Just to iterate something real quick. I appreciate your opinions. I am a Trump supporter, and I voted for him in 2016, and so far, will do so again in 2020 unless something drastically changes. At the same time, I do not fall lock-step in line behind Trump ... it's just that until he demonstrates that what he says has much of any consequence, I tend to bypass what he says, and I wait for actions on behalf of the administration. For example, in 2017 I think it was, Trump said that trans people should not be in the military, but his military chiefs turned and told him that the proposal would not be a good idea, so I don't believe much was done about it. I do not like that policy, and if it harms trans people who are serving the country, I am against that. It has been an honor to be a trans woman sonce I officialy came out in 2014. I feel that my rather conservative views on some issues does not negate myself as a trans woman. I live in a very RED area of the country and I get misgendered pretty much every day. I have learned to simply live with it. People seem to not know better, although some people will ask how I would like to be referred as. Thank you for your videos. I am finding them both informative and entertaining. Keep up the great work.

Myself, I have recently put out videos taking on people such as Jessica Yaniv, in Canada, a child predator who hides behind the trans label, and has done little or nothing to transition, or Essence of Thought, who has cyber-bullied a woman so bad that she committed self-harm. Harming others in suport of the trans "agenda" is not okay, in my viewpoint. So I speak out about it.

As a conservative, traditional viewed, cisgendered, man. I have to say that anyone who treats someone like this for just being who they are is just simply disappointing.

Just watched this and have no idea what Jk is supposed to have done. Don't tell me she had an opinion. Whatever next!

Liking one or 2 transphobic comments accidentally is "excusable," but several? That's an extreme level of gullibility to believe that.

Not agreeing with all of your philosophy does NOT mean that someone is demeaning or demonizing you. And if another person is even capable or invalidating your existence then you are too fragile and you need to fix it.

People are allowed to have any opinion they want, you want people to accept you for changing not only your name, but your body, and demand people use different pronouns for you, but you melt down and can't handle when someone disagrees with you. Trans people ask the world to accept all kinds of changes that are different form normal, yet can't handle when a person disagree with them. It's pretty hypocritical

You people are too radical and that's an issue .. You can't force everyone to accept what you are , some people will NEVER get it so you have to deal with it . It's not easy to understand at all so don't take it too personal , live your life as you wanna live it cause it's no one business . Im personally among those who don't get it but i guess with time people will be more open and try harder jut like we did with the LGB .. Give us time and you will see that things may get better . Good luck with the rest Miss :)
