Hey, how are you? I’m in my final year of high school, and have had critical thoughts on taking on sociology & anthropology as my major, whilst focusing on history as my minor -> under Bachelor of Arts - with the intentions of becoming a future uni teacher, subsequent to hopefully getting my masters and Ph. D on sociology as it heavily interests me. Although, before taking on this position, I thought of pursuing my career based off jobs that include concepts of sociology... I thought policy analyst! Would you agree? Or would recommend alternative pathways for my specific passion.

Do I typically need a master's or can I still pursue such a career with just a bachelors degree in Sociology?

I have two important questions for you about being a policy analyst. I studied policy as an undergrad and want to become an analyst but it feels a little bit discouraging because often times I’m told that I won’t get a job something that I guess when you want to pursue something that is not clinical health or STEM related you’re going to find yourself with people who will try and tell you you’re not going to get a job or make any money is it hard to find in health policy or policy in general?? What if you can’t get a job in the government or among political legislators? Or is policy more than that? Also would you say the money is good?

Hello, Beginning with most important items first, I really appreciate your input and content. Second, I myself am old. In 46 and I've been in my field for years. I was strongly fortunate enough to land a career in emergency management, but have floated over to the situation unit leader for the Threat Intel Desk. For me, Policy sits in a whole different part of the building. They are the people that cause me to sigh in rub my forehead when my people ask me for permission to do something and I can only respond by saying, Policy would destroy us if we did that. I generally deal with the attorneys or legal side of our organization and they are the in between people between us and policy. I have kicked around the idea of getting a secondary degree in policy rather than law, or maybe a certificate, but didn't have a firm grasp on exactly what they did. I was always under the premise that they were all attorneys. I somehow stumbled onto your video just after I Googled what is a policy analyst. I now have a better and clearer picture of what the policy side does for us, so I genuinely appreciate your content and your clarity. Well done and well received. Thank You. Warmest Regards.....
