Subscribed!!!!!!! I really like this guy. Believe me when I say we need more people like this guy who give their input on how to start a tow company. I hope the best for u my friend. I’m glad I came upon your channel.
Stuff like being safe and doing things right is the #1 reason why i am going on my own. Im so sick of the world taking everything that I've worked hard for into there own hands. Do it right and it will always be the best for everyone !
I just want to thank you guys I'm just about to start up a tow company business and what you guys said made a lot of sense thank you for doing the videos I learned a lot from you even how to get the truck Finance now or lease it great work thank you
under 26k might require a CDL! where I live the DOT even goes after small people picking up aluminum cans, mowing yards, using any vehicle to haul cans or mowing equipment with, yes used for profit, so yes expect to get pulled, and questioned, if they know its for profit, you will be fined, and told have to get a CDL! and put DOT numbers, a lady that mows yards has them on her little Ford Ranger, also my area requires a special TOW DRIVER permit, and if caught without it, you will get a misdemeanor charge, and never allowed to haul cars again in this state! with that said, i am planning to go 100 miles away to my Fiance's home, in neighboring state, noting but drivers license required, no extra B.S. what I am looking for is a 1960's to mid 1990's Chevrolet truck, small block, with 4 speed granny trans, because I have 4 spare engines, 2 spare transmissions, 1 spare differential, I plan to rewire truck, and as you mentioned about mileage, I plan for lights to be on aux battery bank, 4 deep cycle batteries, with isolater, so I can sit without running engine, unless needing hydraulics, I will rebuild hydraulic cylinders, and put in new hoses, as well as all new hoses, belts on engine for peace of mind, I am a body man, mechanic, and welder, so I have every angle covered, but for me I think this is wisest? I am selling 3 Harleys, and 2 classic vehicles to do this, and change careers. where I live area is saturated with wreckers, rollbacks, or guys with trucks and trailers, and nearest interstate is 50 miles away, so just rural areas, where my Fiance lives, is 3 miles from major interstate, and 2 other smaller interstates within 10 miles, and lots of traffic, only 5 towing companies there. very nervous, but I see all the wrecks, and breakdowns. so I figure I can ease my way in there. i drove wreckers and rollbacks from 1988 to 1995, none since, so I know basics, im sure need some refreshing.
Josep Rodriguez I returned it the next week because of a leak. I purchased a 2015 6.7 F550 with 34k miles. It has 122k on it now. I haven’t had any issues with it.
Josep Rodriguez actually, I want to replace it with the new 7.3 gas motor truck. These emission control devices scare me. I would hate to shell out $6-9k to fix something on one of these diesels. They’re overrated... at least for the type of runs that I make.
Hey Louise I just ran a across your video I I enjoy your content you give great value and like your honesty. I've been doing some research on on the towing business. Just reaching out. I like to get some more information on it and I like to know how can I get started. Thank you for taking the time to read message
this is gonna be our 2nd truck. our first is already set up, we already had the f350... so boss took and had a sneakerlift put on it... and it's not bad. definitely has its limits, but the costs were not as bad.
Thank you Luis for the videos the help me understand some facts about the business ok I have a question if I want to stay off of CDL license which is the weight the I need to be under and which trucks you recommend like what brand and size again thanks and wish the you have a good 2019 happy new year 🎆
Hey man I just ran across the channel.. But I plan on spending about $20,000 on a truck to get me going cuz I live in Columbus Ohio and there is a lot of alleys that we have to go down so I really can't go about getting a rollback first. What do you think?
Thank you for the information, I’m looking to purchase a 2007 international with a DT-466 diesel 26,000 gvw 4300 model what do you think, it has 142,000 miles, thank you again
Hey luis, been watching you for years, is it a bad idea to start with a 80s ramp truck? Ive been considering some older trucks because I can personally fix them and my idea is to start with 2 and get a driver. what are you thoughts, I have no help, dont know anyone and new to ATL, I plan on getting insurance and wondering will this stop me from getting work form the mega insurance company .....PS this question will be on many of your videos, just reply to one
That's what I was wondering. My daily driver pickup is a 4 cylinder and can't tow a car trailer, but I will need to move a few cars several times around the northeast. I saw an older F350 7.3 diesel rollback that would fit the bill for the next year or so and would likely hold its value for resale when I'm done with it.
Hi Luis good video I was thinking about getting a wrecker for repo I'm a OWNER operator have my own equipment reefer but they are killing us so I'm thinking of getting into another business like repo What do u recommend on Insurance?
The International Trucks were great, the only thing was they were 20 years old and I was inheriting the previous owners problems. Once I got things squared away they actually worked great. Cheap to maintain and easy to fix. New stuff im a fan of the dodge 5500 with the 6.7 cummins. Though , the GVWR is only 19.5. If you want to go newer I would say the Ford f650 with a cummins motor in it. You ll be able to tow f350 duallys with that truck and not exceed weight ratings.
zips, any name brand strap will do, should tell you the load ratings if that is important to you but for wheel straps any big name you hear such as vulcan, their wheel straps will be fine from zips, I personally use vulcan.
A lot of variables , gather all your ducks .. figure out what insurances you need .. how much for each liability, do you have a garage ? Gonna need garage keepers ... it’s a lot lol , find a agent .. for me it was cheaper .. than calling the insurance company directly ... but yeah , it’s a lot . Especially if your just starting up.
Thanks for the information Luis. 👍🏽 I'm looking at getting a 4700 international between a dt 444 and 466 which would you lean towards ? Thanks from Michigan.
Hello , I am new in the business any suggestion will be appresiated, what kind of truck would you recommend to get first (brand) ? one or two trucks to start ?. thanks Roy
I'm very intrested. I live on Massachusetts nh border. I also have a terrible background and driving record. I'm an ex convict and ex drug user. I'm in the laborers union. I was thinking of getting a truck or 2 but keep my job and let someone run the trucks. Would they kill me if it was under my name. Or should I use my fiance's name.
