Bro I’m on a road trip and just listening to industry videos to pick up tips. I agree with you. I also have an ‘89 f350 7.3idi. I just had the engine rebuilt. Runs amazing and paid for. I would add 1) $5 CL ad is well worth it and 2) create your own web page on google. RU-vid it. Don’t pay other people to do anything you can’t learn. 3) You need to be a Jack of all trades because mechanics take their families to Disney on customer ignorance.

Man I'm with you I tell you I love a paid for truck! My IDI could definitely use it going through It's starting to have blow by nothing major but enough to make me say I have to rip it apart. Now I can rebuild an engine but it's not my specialty so the only thing I will say is I want try to be a jack of all trades in that sense anymore because it cost me more when I equate my time to research and all the other nuances. I'll be honest and say I'll pay for most things to be done. You need to know enough to do enough and not get taken advantage of. But I currently pay a coach and have no regrets and learning the shortcuts to success. I've done all the things you're referring to as far as advertising but I stopped using craigslist years ago. Let me know how that road trip's going shoot me an email over at Seasallauto@yahoo.com

You just got a new sub man. Highly informative and truthful video. Appreciate you being transparent. I’m 26 and in Philadelphia. I was literally looking for the last two weeks, into buying a truck. I have a ‘96 F-Super Duty dump truck with a 7.3 turbo. I was considering either converting that into a rollback or selling it, combining it with my savings, then buying a Dually and throwing a wheel lift on it. Really just trying to break into the game and stop working for others.
@Fasttowpro
@Fasttowpro 3 года назад
Yo I appreciate the love fam 🙌🏿 I strongly suggest to do both if you can. The reason why I say that is because the truck insurance as mentioned in the video is going to be very expensive plus you can subsidize the income or lack thereof from starting the new Enterprise with your job. A big thing I would also pay attention to is if you're driving a dump truck you more than likely have a least a class b CDL, you can capitalize on that by getting commercial insurance getting your authority and booking loads directly off load ones. Also you have more control over your schedule but cuz you don't have to wait for somebody to break down to get a call you can pick up and drop off at your discretion via a scheduled contracted account. There's a lot to consider but I highly encourage the journey. Please reach back out to me so how everything goes 🙌🏿✌🏿

I just recently purchased a 1996 Ford F450 flatbed/wheel lift from a local auction for a total of $3,000. The registration was $162 and a set of spark plugs about $30. Drove it home listed on craigslist for $9,000 and had a change of mind. Yes it's old and requires a little more maintenance than a new truck, but it makes money and it's paid for.

I know this video is old but this may help you and save you thousands. Depending on your credit get an interest free credit card they run for about two years. You can pay big things off and not pay interests. So for example you pay your insurance in full with no interest. That’s gotta be a saving of grands alone. It also gives you freedom as you only have to pay the minimum payment that month if you are short. You have to be very disciplined and good with money to do this strategy and make sure you pay it off before the end of the deal. As they go up to 25%. Hope this helps it will give you that cash buffer you need.

@Fasttowpro
@Fasttowpro 11 месяцев назад
That’s kind of the problem. I know people who try to do the same thing. It is not easy to juggle. One of the reasons is because towing is sporadic. What happens when you get all your calls one day and you’re on your 9-to-5? For some reason in this industry, it always seems to happen like that 🤷🏿‍♂️! Another scenario is your equipment brakes do you have a service call to do and you’re supposed to be at work in a few hours?? You just have to be all in or be prepared for those types of situations I promise you they will happen eventually. It can be done just be prepared to make sacrifices and if your determination persist, you’ll be able to quit the job and go full-time if you like. I would suggest getting a second job as a towing operator to even verify you like the industry it’s not like the Internet makes it seem.😅

Thank you for this great video. I have thought many times about going into the towing business . You gave great advice about having a money reserve saved , before starting. I have been in search for a Chevrolet dually but not sure about getting it with a gasoline engine or a diesel . I'm more familiar with the gasoline engine and never owned a diesel automobile. I've heard that diesels pull better under load , than gasoline but i don't have experience with diesel engines. I'll probably buy the gasoline dually , in the end . I have decided to pursue a different business involving automobiles because I believe , I would enjoy it better. The business will be debt free from the beginning. Thank you again for the advice.

Id rather not say the company name because I see too many people getting let go over silly stuff like this comment but it is a great company so far and no current desire to leave. But it is a big used car dealer in America. Pay is hourly, but good. allowed me to get my CDL with their truck. The reason I want o go out on my own is probably for the freedom. I know its not easy, but I feel like my hard work would pay off better if it was for myself rather than a large corporation. I previously worked for AAA, directly not as a contractor, and that is where I got my start. I really enjoyed the work but I did not enjoy the management style, epically after being promoted into it. I don't miss calls on the side of the interstate though that's for sure. Right now isn't the right time for me to branch out on my own due to the price of fuel and trucks epically but also the cost of land. Like you said starting out with your own lot would be a big advantage. It will be a few years, and it might never actually happen but I feel like it is an obtainable goal.
@Fasttowpro
@Fasttowpro Год назад
@@QuesoPants I completely understand your perspective and I can tell you you're actually at an advantage. If I could start over with what I know now I would be a lot bigger than I am right now literally in every sense. There's a lot of factors you have to ask yourself and I can tell you they're always seems to be a bad time and a good time to start something but there's no time like the present. It all depends on how you want to go about being in it. Don't say it will never happen just make a plan map it out and stick to that plan I promise you it'll work out even if it doesn't happen exactly the way that you had anticipated at least you will find your target. Trust me there is no freedom literally at all 😂 to me it's worth it I love it but I will also say there's a lot of other ways to make money out here call me a lot. Good advice for those starting out. But motor clubs can work if your in position. I started just doing roadside and got into towing 5 years in business. We’re 95% motor clubs and it works for my business because I understand how to manipulate my rates with them and also I don’t need to live on the money the trucks earn. Also anyone starting out should find a good lead generation company in there area and learn to use AD words.
@Fasttowpro

That's very good insight and I'm very mixed in between it I hear people who are absolutely crushing it in that space. On the other hand I know companies who have went out of business because of it. Less discuss it more shoot me an email over at Seasallauto@yahoo.com let's chop it up

That white truck is the style I’m looking for. The Powerstroke version. I won’t get an IDI. We only do roadside at the moment. Waiting on a truck. Our insurance for all that is only 90 a month. It’s only gonna go up a bit here soon. But not much.

@Fasttowpro 2 года назад
Hey thanks for the comment! The transportation game is so different and insurance companies will be quick to let you know that. I have a DOT number but not an MC number so you can cross state lines but that's not always necessary in the towing game unless you're doing transportation of course. I have a video coming out about that and it will explain the difference between transportation like hot shotting versus towing because it's literally a night and day difference and insurance companies charge you differently because of what you're doing. Shoot me an email and let's get more specific and I'll see if I can help you seasallauto@yahoo.com

7 to 10.000$ up front for insurance or in a 12 month policy
@Fasttowpro
@Fasttowpro 2 года назад
Hey that's out front your policy payment will start that next month. For instance with my current policy I paid $7k to $10k upfront ( I have to look at my records for the exact number) and let's say that was in January, my payment was due February 1st. It's crazy and every year you have to re put up a large down payment to keep your policy active with most companies. If you don't believe me ask any towing provider or call your local insurance company with the VIN number to a tow truck and ask them how much it is to get commercial insurance. There are tiers to this and it's cheaper depending on how much coverage you need of course. But yes that's just up front not for the entire 12 month policy

Very good points made what is your take on funding groups for buying trucks?
@Fasttowpro
@Fasttowpro 2 года назад
It depends on your monetary status I don't think it's a bad idea it's no different than anything else if you hold the note you hold the power. The problem is trucks break especially when they used for something like Towing. With that you have to have a very good wrist tolerance to weather the storm of the towing industry. Don't get me wrong there's plenty of money to be made interest is interesting. Just be safe with it. If I had a dealer's license I would jump on it all day long because then there's legal bonding contracts and the ability to repossess for non-payment. In the private sector you can still write a contract but there is a good opportunity for that person to dip out without paying or repercussions. Either way make it happen if you feel that that's the move for you my bank account is personally not set up like that 😅 not yet at least

@@Fasttowpro same bro I'm always looking in the mirrors the other day I had a dollie blow out while towing an f150 the potholes on the freeway combined with small tires and weight are not a good combo been dolling on the streets multiple times a day no problem , on dollies it's best to take the street even though it might take a while more than freeway
@Fasttowpro
@Fasttowpro Год назад
@@BayAreaWrecker for sure I'll throw a set of dollies on in a heartbeat but it is nicer to have the flatbed get all four wheels off the ground It's just harder with tight spaces and when a heavier truck or car it takes away the sketchiness. But run what you brung 🙌🏿✌🏿💪🏿
@BayAreaWrecker
@BayAreaWrecker Год назад
@@Fasttowpro to be fair the dollies allow wreckers to get cars out of tight spots where they call us instead of the flatbed , plus a boom ,many times I've been called because a flat bed couldn't do the job long distance I guess the flatbed wins and maybe lowered cars but other wise a wrecker can get it done ,mine uses l arms so it takes a bit but man am I glad Its given me experience on the towing biz
@Fasttowpro
@Fasttowpro Год назад
@@BayAreaWrecker for sure I think that's one of the main disadvantages of having a record with dollies is you don't usually use those on long-distance trips. And I like the manual l arms but I really like my self loader 😅 either one will work it all depends on what area you are and what you're doing Good commentary though

I’ve already heard that the insurance was expensive, and I know every case is different, but DANG, $1,350 per month??? Yeah motor clubs can be horrible but they also can be great I know many people who have started their business and run their business primarily with motor clubs there is no knock on my end they don't work for me at least or maybe I just haven't found the right one the problem is not everybody situations the same so while I would like to say they all are horrible they're really not to be honest they are very vital part of the whole industry because customers don't know the difference between a motor club and a towing company you have to work with them sometimes keep it in mind
