"The Upside of Stress" by Kelly McGonigal does provide evidence that supports the value of self-efficacy in a quantifiable manner. McGonigal's book explores how changing one's mindset about stress can transform stress from a negative experience into a positive one. A significant part of this transformation involves self-efficacy-the belief in one's ability to manage and overcome stress.

It is pretty interesting to know that each theory has its own supporting studies and ways of applying its findings in learning and teaching. Modelling is one of those techniques that I resort to a lot to get the students to know what I am talking about

Could you please do a video about BLOA next? This is because your videos are extremely useful and the exam is so close I am not that confident anymore. Really appreciate the work! It's unfortunate it took me this long to find your channel :/

I'll try Bernard, but one video about a whole approach like the biological approach to behaviour might be a LOONG video.

@@ThemanticEducation Sure thing, I understand what you mean! Nonetheless, I greatly appreciate the content! Could you please tell me though how many studies per unit should I memorise? Because I'm currently revising for the exams and I was wondering do I need one or two studies per unit. What I mean that for example from BLOA I know the Maguire et al 2000 study for both localization of function and neuroplasticity. And my question is do you think this is enough to be covered|? or should I have 2 studies for neuroplasticity, 2 for localization of function etc? Again thank you so much for the massive help! Recommended your youtube channel to my entire psych class!!

@@bernardscottcrohnswarrior3868 I recommend 1 study for an SAQ and 2-3 for an essay. You can choose one approach only to prep for essays.

What is a weakness or criticism of the Social Cognitive Theory? A. Easy to change a person's self-efficacy B. individual focus C. Too much focus on behavioral capability Is option A correct ?
@CooVirgo01
@CooVirgo01 5 лет назад
Thank you for this video, it makes the whole concept a lot clearer!! For an SAQ, you'd just focus on either observational learning, triadic reciprocal determinism OR self-efficacy right? So, although you can briefly describe all 3 key concepts in the answer's introduction, you narrow it down to one, and use a supporting study for it as the focus of the SAQ response?
@ThemanticEducation
@ThemanticEducation 5 лет назад
That would be a good plan! Even TRD and Ob Learning could be described in the body, and then one sutdy to support.

All viewers need to do is slow the speed settings down. You were quite funny at 0.5 speed but I put you there for some of it so I could better digest this new (to me) information. At 0.75 speed .. I would think most people would cope. And of course, viewers can always stop and replay etc. By the way, the DEAL tip is great! Thanks so much!

but in the evaluation of the bobo doll exp. it´s mentioned that kids are not normally exposed to the same situation in real life as they just saw on the TV so their behaviour in the experiment does not necesarily reflect a scenario in reality. A conclution is made that boys more aggressive response in the exp. reflects their overall behaviour IRL. since it´s speculated that it could depend on a genetical reason. However, what if boys are just more spontanious than girls and not more agressive? Maybe the girls aggressive response will manifest later in life? Is there more research done on gender and agression out there?
@ThemanticEducation

These are some great questions. Here's one example of a study on gender differences in aggression: www.researchgate.net/publication/293103207_Gender_differences_in_manifestations_of_auto-aggression_in_adolescents
