Really? She comes off as extremely disingenuous to me. I'm not her target audience at all, but it feels like she just says whatever words will make the most viewers go "omg so true" (which is why the comments in her videos are full of THOUSANDS of "narcissist survivors" who are simply convinced that everyone who ever wronged them must be the personification of evil).

She has knowledge but her content is click-baity and views oriented. I prefer channels that talk about healing. Typically they have less than 30 000 followers bc they don't care abt clout but quality. When she talks she's interesting to listen but as many ppl say there's something off. I think it's bc she cares too much abt views and fame so people notice it in her energy. Ofc I am sure her content helped many ppl, but eventually we have to move on to healing and not obsess over narcissists.

I'm autistic and I have to wear a mask the opposite way of narcs and sociopath's do. I feel emotions so deeply that I have to wear a mask that is less feeling and less emotional in order to get through daily life. It means that people who only see me occasionally might think that I'm a jerk that I lack compassion or am unfeeling but it's actually the exact opposite. I feel things so deeply that in order to protect myself to get through a day I have to put on a mask that does not feel so deeply.

Intruiging. I have foetal alcohol syndrome and a ton of childhood and adulthood abuse (different types of abuse for each) and I'm pretty much the opposite interestingly. I have antisocial traits apparently as well. Sometimes infamy can be useful. But either way I don't really care what I am and masking is a strategy for me although I'm not very good at maintaining it for more than like 2h. I am extremely emotionally shallow as a puddle. I would go insane having strong feelings and empathy etc. It would be too much for my brain to manage, so I guess it's good I don't have it. A question - you have a lot of deep emotions, do you wish you didn't or do you find you are better with them?

My husband was sexually assaulted at 5 years old. This is also the age where he started drinking and doing drugs, and he was filled with extreme anger. He told his mother about what happened to him immediately, and she did not believe him. He was in so much pain that he kept wanting her comfort and to be consoled, but she would tell him to shut up. She would punish him each time, and as a result, he got into constant trouble. He was arrested at age 8 and in and out of jail until we started a relationship in our 20's. Along with his arrests, his sentence would include counseling. After putting together all the information that I found out about his upbringing, I asked him if his mom had ever been proactive in getting him mental health counseling because of his trauma, and he said no. My heart is broken for him, but for my own safety and mental health, and our children, I can not continue with him. There's always drama, and he is abusive in all ways. He was diagnosed with several personality disorders in 2005 and I did not understand the depth of what a life with someone like that would be like. It was a cycle of madness.

She talks about the disorder in a very derogatory way that instills a lot of fear and rejection, it's not a big deal and it's quite easy to get rid of a narcissist. If you stay with a narcissist then you have serious mental problems that attracted the narcissist in the first place and they have nothing to do with it, they are teachers in the lives of those who know them and that many don't know how to take advantage of because they LOVE the role of victim. She also talks about narcissism as if it were something exclusive to the narcissist when in reality we all operate from a narcissistic state, obviously some more than others. It's fine to have empathy for the narcissist -- after all, it's what separates non-narcissitic people from narcissists. However, people should never forget how they are. Bad stuff might have happened to you so young that you cant remember, so its hard to distinguish psychopathy and sociopathy by guessing whats natural/ whats learnt. I think a key telltale to distinguish between whether a person is psycho/ sociopath is whether they have any true morals whatsoever. So for example, Kanika said she cares about animals, and she must have truly cared for her freind who was called fat, so she has some moral compass; whereas a psycho wouldnt care at all, and may only just pretend to care for some benefit to themselves.

I had very similar experience with a pigeon. I've thought to next time not think twice and do what my heart tells me. Empathy to animals is something I don't want to change and I don't think you should either. There is enough people who don't care. I work on being assertive with humans. In. ex. if I see someone being bullied, I get the courage to react and use my empathy in productive way. Too often society thinks that being good/kind means being quiet and agreedable but I realize I need to stand my ground and react for injustice. I can't imagine "bragging about empathy". I've developed social anxiety bc I cared too much and had problems with attention bc I was hypervigilant and couldn't focus on myself/studying etc. My high sensitivity caused me mental health issues so if someone thinks you can "brag about being empath" clearly they didn't experience my issues. I'd remove my sensitivity without blink if I could. I want to have conscience but not feel bombarded with everybody emotions 24/7.

Being diagnosed is NOT a foundation for *professional competence*- yes, it's important for various communities to come together to discuss their experiences and observations, but "I am a diagnosed psychopath/sociopath/narcissist' does NOT equate to 'so therefore I'm COMPETENT in challenging the professional diagnositics and observances of others'. Having the voices of others contributing to the overall discussion of particular mental health subjects is absolutely essential; recognising that sometimes our very condition requires outside observation and feedback is also important.

A lot of non-Western parents don’t let their kids cry, when I was a kid, my mom would tell me that ‘only stupid girls cry, smart girls don’t, you’re a smart girl, control yourself.’ And then I’d see her cry when she’s upset, and she’d say ‘I’m so stupid, you’re smart like your dad, don’t be dumb like me’ while bursting into tears. I don’t cry much and I am not outwardly emotional, the only times I cried were when my mother and younger brother died, just full blown meltdowns that lasted a few days. Also, I was diagnosed with high functioning autism (they called it Asperger’s back then) when I was 23. I suspect my father had it too, and my brother who passed away had moderate autism with low IQ.

You can usually bribe them with money, sex, or assets and sometimes they might consider leaving you alone as long as they know somebody's helping them they will see it as an opportunity to advance themselves if you make them think your building them up. Building them up is the secret to getting them to let you leave. Their biggest fear is being left alone and forgotten. So if you want to find a way around this don't tell them what your plans are and don't encourage them to express their emotions because they lack it. The only time there nice to you is when they know there getting some sort of benefit from the situation. There not as as smart as psycho paths or sociopaths because I actually wasn't diagnosed with narcissism so she's wrong in saying we are all co dependent. Narcissists twist empathy around and make it all about them. Nothing is more narcissistic than thinking you're an "empath." Nobody has any right to conclude in their own minds what another person is experiencing. Your "insight" into the other person's struggles says more about YOU than their reality.
@ArtisteRel
@ArtisteRel 11 месяцев назад
Eh not quite. Empathy is more of a generalized understanding of how things can affect another person. For example, a dog dying can make a person sad. An empathic person will relate to the sadness and know why consolation can help that person. Calling this narcissism doesn't make sense because the experience involves willingly and genuinely trying to connect with another person. Someone without empathy will not get why the person cares so much about the dog or will think their emotional reaction is stupid and that it's a waste to bother with emotionally because it's not happening to them. I've had people actually tell me this. "It's not happening to me so why should I care?" Even admitted to having to pretend to care to protect their image so they look like a caring person. This is an example of narcissism because the focus is on self image only and even downplays the emotions of others.

To me, a true empath is someone who cares about the well-being of others more than themselves. This usually creates a lot of problems such as lack of boundaries, limited self expression, and generally not advocating for oneself. You don't have to be a mind reader to experience this. An empath may be devastated just hearing about bad news that may have happened to someone. This is what makes them (unfortunately) so easy to manipulate.
@Inequities
@Inequities 11 месяцев назад
That’s not what empathy is. Emotional Empathy is an ability to “put yourself in someone else’s shoes,” and understand and feel what they’re going through. And this isn’t guessing what they’re going through, it’s them telling someone what they’re going through, and that person EMPATHIZING with them. What you’re referring to is an antiquated version of someone “empathic,” popularized by the character in Star Trek The Next Generation, who was able to see into someone’s feelings like you’re describing. That isn’t empathy.

I have also been VERY intrigued by this question!! Commenting here, just so that I can keep tabs on this question, and see if there are any interesting answers. Speaking as a non cluster B autistic person, myself, whose empathy and ability to read people has massively improved from psychedelics! I always wanted the best for people, and human suffering always bothered me. But I had a hard time instinctively understanding and relating to people! Whereas psychedelics have helped me FEEL them more, so that I can now empathize with and relate to them better! Plus I've just generally become much more interested in other people, and I feel closer to them, and like I have more in common with them, than I used to! Not that I'm at all perfect at reading people now, either, but I'm still better at it than I used to be. And I have definitely asked myself if it could help sociopaths, too. Intriguing question. :)

But there is a growing interest in them, and rightly so. Most probably only a short term effect, while the experience is on. Once down, the old patterns will kick in, denying that they've just had a life changing experience. Or to glamourise it and parade themselves as having done a very cool thing. To have a lasting effect, the trip would have to be repeated, perhaps multiple times so that ingrained patterns can begin to change. I'm just theorising here, I have some experience but I wouldn't call myself an expert on the healing properties for mentally ill people. It's still a largely unexplored area.

There is nothing that drives me more insane than people who use the word empath that are not willing to take accountability for their actions. I projected my issues onto them, diminished their experiences as humans, etc. Does that make me to blame for their very real and heinous abuses of me? Of course not. It stops you from wallowing in hate for them, and makes you focus on yourself, and wanting to change for the better, to avoid doing that to yourself ever again. You see so many broken people in the comments of videos on narcs or ones like this, and its not like you can tell a broken person "look at yourself, how did you contribute, it isnt even really about the other person", because you'd just be accused of victim blaming. Sociopaths have selective empathy in a way, SOME do, Since at one point their brain understood empathy and pain, They later on VALUE a VERY small amount of people and you cannot mess with the people they value, You must have empathy on some level to get angry at a person you love being attacked, you can't love without having it either, So where a psychopath will not protect anyone except for a want or a need. I think a lot of sociopaths don't realize that it is a form of empathy that ONLY lights up when the thing you value OR LOVE is hurt, you pushed someone down the stairs when they were called fat, That means you knew that word hurt your friend , but is more like property, like its your favorite thing that makes you feel good and you do not harm the only love they have. However because lack of empathy becomes a point of pride to a sociopath and they secretly view it as a super power, they will get angry if you mention any kind of empathy they are showing, its a tiny amount of empathy and most of the time they don't even know thats what it is

Yeah because some people are actually aware that cops are incentivized to lie and arrest and imprison as many people as possible for any reason possible because then these people cant vote and they are forced into legal prison slavery. Companies pay the prisons and governments to make sure X amount of prisoners will be working for however many pennies a day. This is easily available information and the Constitution EXPLICITLY says slavery is legal for prison punishment. It has nothing to do with whether someone has broken the law. There are perfectly law abiding citizens who still get targeted and abused with police power until the cop can arrest them on "being suspicious" for recording their surroundings and the cops incident. Youll be so calm until a police officer opens your door while youre on your lunch break eating a salad and illegally kidnap you because you were acting suspicious (this is kidnapping and unlawful detainment and illegal to do) This has actually happened. Dont come crying to the people trying to help you when you realize they were right about cops.

This is exactly what happened to me and my body finally took a major hit and I was broken down that I developed all these intolerances and autoimmune diseases. I took time to heal, self reflect and grew to a place of total peace and contentment with the possibility of being single for the rest of my life if in meant living Narc Free. Once I turned this corner in my psyche God bright the most Amazing Man into my life in the most miraculous way!!! I ended up being the catalyst to his own liberation from a lifetime of captivity to his Narcissistic/Sociopathic Mother who OWNED HIM until he was 51 years old! He was even willing to die for her in a EF 3 tornado they got caught up in!! He almost killed himself and that’s how we met, under very bleak circumstances in a private forum that discussed the Right to Die with Dignity. I was there due to another severe relapse into treatment resistant mental illness after a one year global shortage of my one and only treatment option that is responsible for keeping me Alive! He’s been NO CONTACT now for 6 months, is in therapy is no longer suicidal, is no longer plagued by gender dysphoria that began when he was 14 years of age. And He’s come to Life as if he’s been Resurrected from the Dead!! I was 47 when we met, and I’ve never had a single doubt that he is my Life Partner and Fellow Sojourner for time and all Eternity. My Other half. Let God lead and WAIT for His perfect timing and you will meet the Man that was destined for YOU. The relationship will be characterized by one miracle after the next and next to daily signs of confirmation in the most uncanny of ways! Step back, stop looking for him and start looking towards your Maker….find that PEACE that Transcends All Understanding and you’ll know you are at the Center of His Will for your Life and then WAIT because this is WHEN God will make it all happen! HE Will be your Matchmaker! And you’ll quickly learn that God goes way above and beyond in providing for our needs and desires. I call my Fiancé my Gold Mine….He’s more than I could have ever dreamed up or was too afraid to dream for. And he too feels the same way about me. Not a day goes by where we are not still in Awe and Wonder at How He orchestrated it all in order for our paths to finally cross and under the most potentially deadliest of circumstances! He bright us both out from The Valley of Death and Darkness into the Kingdom of Light and Healing. May the Peace of God go before you in all that you do…and you will taste of His Goodness and Fatherly Provisions. ♥️🙏♥️

@ArtisteRel

I'm not assuming this to be true, but if she doesn't have empathy at all there's a chance she had seen other girls breakdown or get upset by being called that so she used that as an excuse to get to do something unacceptable for fun because she knew it would be viewed as a believable reaction, and then dismissed. For a toxic person that situation would have been consequence free entertainment.

@@ArtisteRelThat’s definitely a possibility. She’s also talked about cognitive empathy. He also didn't react to hurting me until I chose homelessness and it embarrassed him because people around him judged him for it.

The quick way I distinguish the sociopath and the psychopath is that sociopaths are overly emotional, and psychopaths are under emotional. A really good example of the two is in the movie Fargo. The two criminals played by Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare. Buscemi's character is a sociopath, and Stormare is a psychopath. The sociopath is constantly offended, obsessive, jealous, angry, over reacting etc... while the psychopath is cool and unemotional. In my 100% non professional opinion I think Kanika probably is a psychopath, as she believes. Based on what she says about not having emotions and not feeling nervous or scared, and from her affect, it seems likely. It's interesting to hear what it feels like to be a psychopath, from a psychopath (assuming she is). And one more thing, Kanika, if by chance you happen to read this a month later, thanks for sharing and being so open and honest. People with your diagnosis rarely even know because they don't get therapy, and when they do, they don't often share. I'm about to binge your videos.

I’ve got autism but by god so much of this is relatable - and not generically relatable. Things like, pretending I was the victim of homophobic bullying whenever I beat the shit out of someone at age 8. Learning when I was a teenager that faneing remorse got me out of trouble because with everyone else being so defensive, the teachers appreciated not having conflict. Even now I - let’s call it frugal love bomb; ie financially keep friends in the ‘red’, so they’re more inclined to give/do what I want. I truly believe the only thing preventing full blown sociopathy or narcissism is a combination of learnt social laws + shame.

If youre sure about not being misdiagnosed (since what you describe would need a whole lot of social and interpersonal awareness at a very young age, which tends to be incredibly difficult for autistic children, but its a spectrum so who knows), a comorbid Cluster B personality disorder is still a likely possibility. People diagnosed with ASD exhibit higher rates of personality disorders. So you might want to look into that. Especially since you dont only seem to lack empathy, but youre able to manipulate people you call your friends which would require you to be able to read them. Its very interesting, because all of the autistics I know have a very high moral compass, completely seperate from them being able to feel empathy. Though thats just anecdotal.
@danika9411
@danika9411 11 месяцев назад
I think you might have both. Because what you describe is not typical for autism. I'm nd myself and actually know quiet a few people with autism, ADHD or both. Actually all of my circle of friends except maybe 1 person is also nd. And none of them is like that at all and it is also not in the diagnostic criteria for autism. But it is for antisocial personality disorder. You can have both diagnosis and it isn't actually that rare, because a lot of autistic people have c-ptsd from early childhood, either due to a homelife that was abusiv3 or because of bullying ect.
@JossyFoop
@JossyFoop 11 месяцев назад
@@rockabillymuffin I just don’t accept that the validity of my official diagnoses is either incorrect or incomplete based on three anecdotal examples. As a child peer-to-peer relationships were always been rife with conflict/friction/misunderstanding’s; the classical issues associated with ASD and relationships for that developmental stage. At the same time though, specifically in an education environment (20+ kids, 1 adult), adults in that environment always gravitated to me. In hindsight it was because I was always the smartest, well read on current affairs (special interest), great vocabulary - I was a little adult. Something that’d solidify the relationship is - oddly, I guess my meltdowns and shutdowns. They were kind of enigmatic in that in appearance they seemed identical to all the other troubled kids - but the causes and remedies were so much different I guess. Teachers became emotionally invested in me. I mention this because it points to I guess a ton of trial and error in dealing with adults punishing me. It taught me that I can make things better for myself if I misrepresent the truth. Reading that last sentence - I urge you to refrain from pathologising it; instead recognise that it’s a very neurotypical thing. I - look I’ve written so much this is exhaustive. I’m on mobile which is so glitchy + I can’t even proofread at this point. I just don’t see how using pattern recognition + past experience to extrapolate likely outcomes of social interactions equates to a cluster b personality disorder. Of note I was in weekly modified CBT from ages 6-18, and mention of “keeping friends in the red”, it’s just me offsetting the times I choose to be demanding - instead of not asking for what I want - with like, ‘drinks/food is on me’. I can be a brute, I apologise for it in advance, and quite frankly I teach those around me to unabashedly vouch for themselves.

It seems like both sides are at war with each other. But added to that I can be in a certain mood and genuinely not give one fu** who I hurt or cause to suffer, sometimes even relishing in what I've done. Especially if I'm angered or challenged. But then when my mood changes, maybe a day goes by, sometimes I consider "maybe that wasn't the right thing to do" usually followed with some sort of apology. I'm not sure if that is genuine remorse or moreso, this has now tainted my image and I don't want someone to think negatively of me. From what I have been seeing, psychopaths have no empathy because their brains do not register it. Sociopaths don't have that nervous system characteristic. So they are capable of feeling empathy. Psychopaths are completely different as compared to sociopaths. It makes sense that sociopaths are described as made, not born. The sociopaths brain is the same as neuro normal people, while the psychopath's brain is distinctly different. From what Kanika has said about herself, I'd say she is definitely a psychopath. In her words, she doesn't feel any empathy. For her, people are just tools to achieving some desired goal. There is no sense of sympathizing with the feelings of others.
