The return to competitive football after such a long hiatus has increased the chances of player injury. The Bundesliga suffered a sharp uptick before its conclusion, and the Premier League is expected to follow that trend. But what is the science behind these issues?

Ozil video synopsis: Over the last 3 years, high pressing has become more fashionable. This has made the 4231 formation, and Ozil's number 10 role, redundant: as shown by rarely any top team choosing the formation and the only team who has chosen that formation regularly being Norwich. This is problematic for Ozil as he has always flourished in the 4231 system, showing that unless he can adapt he is no longer suited to modern football. Him adapting to modern football may be problematic due to him 'falling out of love with the game' because of criticism: as he said he is "German when we win and Turkish when we lose" as well as being dropped by Mercedes and Adidas. This is also shown by him preparing for life after football: he went to Washington to see if he could expand his coffee shop chain to DC United (leading to transfer rumours) and has his one clothing brand. He has also been involved in charity work, providing Covid relief in both Turkey and England and spoke up about the Chinese concentration camps where Uighurs are being tortured, whilst meeting Erdogan and Erdogan being at his wedding last year. Speaking of Weddings, Ozil and his partner also had their first child together during lockdown which could explain why he has been sluggish during training. In conclusion, Arsenal are looking to rebuild soon and Ozil is perceived as an Economic burden, hindering the club's ability to rebuild. Unless Ozil adapts his game, could he be leaving Arsenal soon?

I'm more interested in what went wrong at Arsenal for Ozil tbh
@danielong7552
@danielong7552 3 года назад
Quick summary for those who wanted to know what it was about: 1. The modern game has become less friendly to Ozil, teams stopped using 4-2-3-1 and have instead started using the 4-3-3 (or a formation with a back 3) meaning that the number 10 role was no longer the focus and there more players in the space where the number 10 played to easily mark the number 10 out of the game. The formation of 4-2-3-1 was the formation he thrived him the most under Mourinho (At madrid) and Wenger (at arsenal), and it's no longer used as much. In madrid and Arsenal he formed bonds with players such as Sami Khedira and Di Maria, who covered a lot of space and did great interplay with Him. At Arsenal, Giroud and Alexis linked up with him well, while Aaron Ramsey and Whilshire made runs ahead of him from deeper in the midfield and would receive balls from him. These players made plays that generally made him really dangerous, however, he does not make the same type of plays with his current teammates. The game also has a lot more pressing, meaning that Ozil is put under far more pressure (Tifo uses a statistic that I can't remember but it increases from ~35% in 17/18 to ~45% in 18/19. 2. Ozil has declined in form but also made it clear he wants to stay (they quote Ozil from a 2019 interview with David Ornstein where he says he did not just sign for Arsene wenger, he signed for the club), reasons might be because there are a lot of tumultuous things happening around him, so it's not a great time for him to want to move. He fell out badly with the German FA after 2018 WC his comment: ("Im a german when we win and a Migrant when we lose"). Injuries have also been and issue for him, and he's had dips in form after the knocks he received. He also got his fair share of bad press due to his pictures with erdogan speaking against the treatment of Uyghurs in China. This isn't "bad" things per say, but it's put him in the line of fire for controversial stuff he may not want to be a part of. The attempt at mugging him during the preseason also did not help. His wife was emotionally traumatized and wanted to leave London after the attack. During this, he also had the birth of his child, which while was a happy moment for him, prevented him from training as much with the team as much as he'd like. He's seen as a dressing room leader, but some players and certain staff are starting to feel like he's not pulling his weight on the pitch anymore or giving as much in training. This is beginning to put him at odds with some. Ozil wants to stay, but his tager combined with a drop in quality and some seeing him as a relic a bygone era (the wenger era and the 10 role) mean a rebuild around him is unlikely. 3. Ozil has been preparing for his life past the game. When he joined Arsenal he allegedly had a falling out with his father, and as a result grew closer to his business partner Dr Erkut Sogut. He owns multiple coffee shops and (was planning to?/has?) opened a coffee store outside DC United's stadium in the MLS. He also owns clothing brand called M10, and has been doing charitable work helping children and providing COVID relief to Istanbul and London. They end the video by saying something along the lines that "time is no longer on Meust Ozil's side" and then his future is quite uncertain. He's lost a lot relevance on the pitch because his role is getting marked out of the game, and hes also having trouble in areas outisde the pitch. Apologies if I missed anything out, that's all I could remember, I'd only seen the video once..

@@danielong7552 Would you not think adapting to changes in the game is the responsibility of the player? You don't mention the most important fact about him, his massive wage! It kinda negates much of what you say. He is not motivated to change or adapt because complaints ie the things you have listed, aside, he has no worries at all! Let's face it, he has been good in patches for Arsenal, but no more than that, even under Wenger.

"Playing on artificial turf increases the risk of injuries" - Is it a fact or a myth?
@-edvins.388
@-edvins.388 3 года назад
It is a fact. More aggressive traction due to the abrasive surfaces lead to an especially high amount of ankle and knee injuries due to players being stuck in the ground.
@paudang3101
@paudang3101 3 года назад
Fact Been playing on grass my whole life 1st time playing on turf:BAM) injured luckily only minor
@Christopher_TG
@Christopher_TG 3 года назад
It depends on the turf. If you play on well-maintained, watered, professional-grade turf, then the risk is no greater than playing on grass. There's ample data out of MLS, where 5 clubs play on artificial surfaces (ATL, SEA, POR, NER, VAN) that show the risk is no greater. If, however, you're playing on turf that is not watered or well-maintained, or if it's older astroturf, then you're gonna have a baaaaaad time.
@Highonwater3X
@Highonwater3X 3 года назад
@@paudang3101 that sucks, but it's not really proof, it's anecdotal evidence from one situation. I tore my ACL, MCL, PCL, and meniscus in my left knee on grass. A year later I tore my right ACL playing futsal. That means nothing unless it's the context is explained. Did you twist? Did you get tackled? Did you just run and something felt wrong? In my case both injuries were from freak accidents caused by tackles making my knee twist in directions it should not be twisting. If the same or similar happened to you, then it can't really be blamed on the turf.

It’s strange that footballers at the top levels don’t have the facilities at home to stay fit. It’s easy enough to set up your own gym let alone when you earn as much as a footballer does. JT has a gym in his house and would always be working out after the season ended, Ronaldo always seems to he in amazing shape because he’s always working out. Is it maybe a case of the players weren’t very professional when they went into lockdown? Or maybe just didn’t believe the season would restart so didn’t stay fit because they assumed they’d have a pre season?

At 2:45 you read a ratio as a decimal. 2 : 11 is 2 to 11 Not "two point one one" @tifofootball You need a "proof listener" to pick up on mistakes like that.

Good thing the Premier League confirmed to use five subs a game because the lockdown really messed things up and Football should've continued on without fans and be approved by every world government to finish up so they wouldn't have to make up games in the summer heat.

What happened to the Ozil video?
