We are using bleach dishwashing detergent and water to clean this roof. I mix 75% bleach 25% water 1 cup of dishwashing detergent. Wash down the bushes with clean water before washing your roof.
In this video we are doing a Roof Wash using bleach soap and water. Check out the results in the next video in this particular video all we did was show you the chemicals and the soap that we use.
In the next video will be the actual roof washing.I hate it when I watch a video and somebody won’t tell you how to wash a roof.
They’ll say well if you come to the meeting and watch that next video I’ll teach you how and then they don’t tell you anything for 15 minutes just run their mouth.
I want everybody to know how to wash their own roof with the chemicals I can buy at Lowe’s or Home Depot.

I’m here to help. I don’t care where you live Canada Australia Alaska doesn’t matter with me. I do the videos to be helpful to others. A lot of people say don’t put Dawn dishwashing detergent and bleach and it even says that on the butter. But you’re using such a small quantity it will not hurt you I promise you. And I love the tiger paws

For a homeowner i recommended pool chlorinating liquid. It is $8 and had 10% sodium hypochlorite. Cut that in half and 5% is perfect for any stubborn roof

I use copper sulfate to kill the algae in my pond so I use 4 oz copper sulfate per gallon of water in a similar pump sprayer. I make sure to spray the peak and ridges so it will wash down when it rains. Make sure you let it dry before it rains. So far it’s lasted 5 years.

Wow that is actually pretty impressive five years normally if you do it with bleach to get 3 to 4 so I think you’re mixed might be better than mine love to hear more about it 910-294-1761

Pool Shock at Menards is 12.5% Sodium Hypochlorite and is 3.99 per gallon. Clorox Outside Bleach is 5 - 10% and is 6.48 per gallon.

Glad it was helpful! Most of the time the bleach that I use is 12.5% bleach I buy it at industrial cleaning supply when I use a lowes bleach, I sometimes use bleach straight with soap no water added if your stains are heavy and dark it might be a good idea to go with straight bleach, 8 ounces of soap, and then rinse it off after its been up there for 15 or 20 minutes

When using the bleach/water mix. when the runoff occurs does it 'bleach' the siding paint or other painted parts o the home?

Remember it’s a cleaner if it gets on the siding rinse it off and it will be cleaner you can also do vinyl siding the same way just use less bleach if you use a lot of bleach on vinyl siding it will look shiny if you don’t rinse it off real good and it will also make it brittle over a few years so when you wash vinyl siding use very little bleach like a quart of bleach to a gallon of water. When washing the roof Just spray it on let it sit or you can rinse it off either way I like to rent mine if it’s not gonna rain

Use 12.5 SH , bag gutters , spraying with a pump sprayer is very time consuming, and there is a lot more risk with a pump up sprayer , you have to walk the entire roof doing that , a 12 v pump setup will cover more area in a safer way , plus you can do it most of the time from the ground or with minimal time on the roof

Wal-Mart's dish soap is good , It's a gallon size.👍 Gordon's food service has Dawn dish soap in larger quantities 👍❗

Go to owenscorning.com website look on there for how to clean Owens Corning shingles and what are you gonna find out my exact solution they might not use Dawn because they say Don and bleach reacts to each other. But they will be using some type of detergent. Also go to gaf.com look on the website for roof cleaning instructions

Household bleach I would go straight with a cup of water and 6 ounces soap. I use heavy duty bleach

It will kill the moss that is on your cedar shake roof. The problem with that is the mice might not fall off on its own right off it will take some time or if you’re careful you can sweep it off with a broom after the moss fingers die

It’s according to the size of the house 20 squares a couple hundred dollars. If it’s 40 squares and you can’t walk on it very easy five to $700

I think you will find that his boots a Cougar Paws NOT tiger paws.......small thing but this is the professional roof boot for traction on a sloped roof.

@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair well that is what you should use the home depot, Walmart products are only 6 to 8% sodium Hypochlorite, after you delute that is like spraying water, you'll need to do 2 to 3 applications, waist of time and money, like you said 10 to 12.5% is better, but be very careful and use the proper PPE so you don't get burns, also have you SDS book in hand in case of emergencies

10/12.5% SH should be used , period - hire a professional is the bet advice in this whole post , having a home owner walking roofs is not the best idea

@@robertkurtz7587 I do it myself and I use regular bleach and water. Then I spray it on the roof and let it sit for about 10 minutes then I get it wet with my sprayer and then scrub with a deck brush and it looks new. Hard work though.

@@100fredkrueger you don’t even need to scrub using chlorine if it’s just black spots and light build up Can literally just spray on and the weather will take care of the rest Roofs are mostly super quick jobs , 4-6 a day per truck

Best advice is to hire a professional , this is not how a professional goes about it , there is a long list of precautions as well , doing it this way is very time consuming and by the time your done it’s not saving you a bunch of money , no professional would tell you this is the way to go ,

Listen buddy this isn’t for the professionals this is for the homeowner I think you’re on the wrong channel and I have other videos people have told me they used my method and how well it worked. I’ve been doing it for 10 years helping friends clean their roofs and customers clean their roofs I went on to owenscorning.com and I looked up what is the best method for cleaning a roof and you can even look it up on RU-vid you’re not gonna find anything else besides pool bleach or something like that

In Canada it'll cost ya about $1000 to get your roof done by a professional, compared to $30 DIY. That's a hard pill to swallow if you're of able body and mind.

You're a complete idiot if you don't think you're saving a bunch of money by doing it yourself. Yes, a professional can get it done quicker but they are using equipment that most homeowners will not have or ever need to spend money on. He makes these videos for the average Joe who wants to get it done on their own for a fraction of the price.
