I’ve got a week to myself in fabulous Las Vegas with $10,000 in my pocket. Let’s play some poker!
We head to Resorts World first, sit down at a $1/3 game, and quickly decide to find another game with more action. We end up at Bellagio, and the game is amazing!

Always protect the integrity of the game. Call the floor, let them handle the situation. Crazy that both opponents just gave away their hand strength freely... nice vid sir

Agree with this comment. Not your fault that the players openly volunteered the strength of their hand. If they hadn’t said anything, then the river would’ve been shuffled back in and there wouldn’t be an issue. You did everything you could to protect your action without trying to angle either player. Live low stakes variance takes all sorts of forms…

I think you did the right thing by calling the floor. It’s the dealer’s job to track the action. If the dealer isn’t doing their job properly, it should definitely be called out. They both were going to fold to your turn bet anyway. It was nice of you to offer the player to your left his money back.

@ryanbachatarockstar
@ryanbachatarockstar 2 года назад
Welcome back! Yes, 100% you're right to call the floor. This is a "burn and turn" before action is complete. You have every right to act on your hand, and are entitled to make an action. Dealers are humans too, and easily could have missed your action, or seen the check out of turn and assumed you had checked. But you absolutely can, and should, speak up when your action has been missed. It's a relatively simple fix as well. Regardless of whether you're bluffing or not, your turn deserves to happen. It's not rude or a dick move either, so you should not feel bad for doing it.
@HuggiePoker

I had a dealer do the exact same thing to me by dealing the river before I could act on the turn. In my case, I'd flopped a set and the river put four to straight on the board. I did the exact same thing you had done. I called the floor, and they reshuffled the river card into the deck and allowed me to act. I moved all-in and was called by a guy with two pair. I held on the river and won a nice pot.

The missed action where you tried to bet the turn and the river peeled due to the dealer missing the correct action. You should always defend because the river influences action and that changes your idea of what you may have done. I have had this happen before and it caused a big stink but in the end I did as you did and offered the money the person put in back. They didnt take it either. But the gesture was there and made the game continue to be fun and friendly.

@MaydayAggro
@MaydayAggro 2 года назад
Good call ott with 43s. You definitely have the right implied odds; however, when no money goes in after you hit, those implied odds don't mean much. I think it might be better to block/donk bet. Bet small, and it might look weak especially when the draws miss. 32o is similar in terms of implied odds. They are worthless if you don't get the money in. I'd raise turn to 150 and then jam river 380 into 450. When you just call, you rarely get paid. And when you don't play big pots, implied odds are just an excuse to chase draws. Your A4s hand: That was messed up, but there is no way you could know that the 2 helped the IP player. I'd probably just go with the floor's decision but feel bad about it like you did. QJo was a good read and a good call.
@HuggiePoker

You know, I actually had a voice line about the missed bet & implied odds, but I ended up not including it in the final video. You're totally right though, we can't count our implied odds if we're not getting the value in the end!

You need to be betting that 23 hand when the river pairs. At that level you will almost always get a call by an ace who now is happy with two pair queen kicker. Remember most players at that level are only thinking about their hand relative to the board. Not what you may have.

you need to bet rivers more often with your strong hands, preferably overbets because they look like a bluff. You are missing out on tons of value by checking river. Trapping is a good tool but tends to be situational and the frequency you do it should be dependent on what kind of players you have at the table.

When i doubt. Call the floor.
@darklurker33
@darklurker33 2 года назад
Defending your action on the burn is the correct play there. You don’t want to let players know when you are bluffing and when you aren’t. You took a line bluffing and for that $40 you were entitled to actually bluff him before he saw a river. He never would have called the turn bet w a pair of 2s. You didn’t do anything wrong, the dealer just made an error. The error either punished you or him. If the dealer didn’t make the error the result was what happened when you called the floor. Just an akward situation. You were a good sport in offering his chips back. Great job finding that soft table. Any tips on how you do that?

I only noticed one error... besides all the weak opening and calling lol.... the hand where you turned the nuts... you have to be raising the turn as your opponent will put you on a draw, he had top pair so he wasn't going anywhere. no matter what the river is, you have to bet that as he never has a boat in that situation..... you could get away from it if he raised you all in but with top pair he is always going to call you Keep it up dude.

While calling the floor was the correct call, what are you doing to your reputation sitting at a friendly 1/3 table when you are clearly up? I think demanding the floor action, while correct per the rules, is not the correct move in the long run. Yeah you tried to chop it back to the other player and his error was talking about his hand. However, again, it is a 1/3 game, not the final table at the WSOP. As for the video, very smooth voice, great cadence, great explanation and content. A few weeks ago when I was in Vegas I found the Bellagio 1/3 tables not necessarily soft, but easily readable. You knew who the grinders and locals were.
@HuggiePoker
@HuggiePoker 2 года назад
Yeah, that is definitely a legitimate argument, and ultimately is the reason I tried to offer my opponent's money back to him. I didn't want the game to take a sour turn from trying to simply correct the action. I had the same impression as you about the players at the Bellagio during my visit, for the most part anyway. What do you use to edit your videos and how do you get card graphics?
@HuggiePoker
@HuggiePoker 2 года назад
I just use the free version of DaVinci Resolve. I think a lot of other vloggers use Adobe Premiere though. For the card graphics, I just use rectangles to construct the overlays. I actually built what's called a Fusion Composition in DaVinci with some custom scripts that allows me to easily paste in hand formats like "AsJc", and it'll convert it into the right format. I don't think most vloggers use an approach like mine, though.

On the blind KQ hand, you said you'd raise his $24 bet to $64, but before you pushed the money over the line, he declared all-in and you folded. Were you obligated to give him the extra $40 by declaring your earlier raise?
@HuggiePoker
@HuggiePoker 2 года назад
Yes, sorry that wasn't clear from the way I cut the video. I put the chips in the middle before he declared he was all-in. If I hadn't, I still would have been obligated to pay.

I will be soon! I have 500 of them here at my house, but I need to get a state tax application filled out before I can sell them on my merch shop. 😊

Hey man, I appreciate and respect that feedback. That being said, this particular night, I just ran really well, and I basically included all my losing hands (not counting hands where I saw a flop and folded right away). If you want to see a bunch of losing hands, I suggest checking out episodes 35 & 37.

@02:30 "I feel like it's such a weak raise I might be able to steal this pot on the next street so I make the call". This is the kind of move that shows why fish are fish. This guy thinks he's a genius but in reality his thinking is one dimensional and -ev. A person who min raises here either has a monster or a weak hand. So by planning on raising the next street to steal you are assured of winning small pots or getting clobbered in big ones. Fish like this don't understand that poker is a CONTINUM. It isn't that you win one hand and that's it. It has to print EV over the long haul. I could literally raise huge with ANY 2 cards on nearly ANY street and I'm stealing 95% of the time successfully. Problem is when you lose it's so massive that it takes forever to win it back.
