Some German cars may perform better, but Lexus has Toyota’s reliability. If you are looking for a luxury car that doesn’t cost much in maintenance, Lexus is the way to go.
I have to admit I love lexus ES's. I own 2 of them lol. They're just so darn good at what they do. They're honest cars. I have an immaculate 2006 ES330 with over 230,000 miles, and an ES330 as well.
CarsofGlasgow no i can’t afford it haha! I drove one as a loaner car and it drove almost identical to both my ESs. I did however also buy a 2008 LS460 with the V8 and I love it too! I have 3 Lexus now 😂
Purchased the exact same car five months ago, with luxury package, nav. and panaramic sunroof. It's a very comfortable/quiet and RELIABLE driver. When I want to go really fast and enjoy rowing gears with a top down, I hit the start button on my Corvette. I bought my Lexus because I've given up on German money pits, and Acura is a shell of its former self. The 2018 Lexus es350 has the 2GR FE engine which features forged internals. and a 6-speed auto. I'm expecting 200,000 miles of trouble free ownership. Good luck people, who buy cars with turbocharged 4 bangers with direct injection, start stop technology that have very high compression ratios and take premium gas. Those are very hi-stressed engines. Not good for reliability. Let's not forget those cvt and problematic 8-9 speed transmissions. I like tried-and-true technology for my daily driver.
J B I couldn’t agree more, German cars are EMPTY $ PITS ! As they age (5+ yrs) with high mileage (50k).. In July 2018 unfortunately i bought a BeautifulLOOKING 2013 X5 with 94k miles ... I didn’t do my HW prior to buying... i was woooeeed by the driving experience and fit & finish of the interior. Within 8 LONG months i sunk nearly $2,500 - $3k into it; front end work, leaking rear differential and a frozen door lock... Couldn’t sell it privately and traded it in for my BEAUTIFUL 2013 ES350 in April 2019 with only 30k miles !! It now has 36k miles and this one will last me 10+ years because of its super reliability/dependability of Toyota/Lexus !! I lost nearly 6K on that X5, SMH but had to get out of it FAST, a similar feeling to being on a sinking TITANIC!! I had knots in my stomach until i traded that piece of crap in !! I watch Bill’s great review and his love affair for Mercedes (especially the S class) and I’m almost tempted to get lured in, but my head says NO!!! I just watched his lovely review of a 2006 S 350 and i looked on cars.com and you can pick one up for under 10k with only 50k miles ! Just too unreliable and the parts and labor will bankrupt you faster then COVID19.. Like you I’m expecting 200k + miles on my ES350... i also have the Lux package wth NAv. I don’t use it as a commuter, only put 6k miles on it one yr of ownership. I do my own oil changes; The original owner replaced the OEM (probably Michelins) with these crappy Hancook Tires... they have about 10k miles left on them so I’ll keep them until they’re shot. tracking the age too, they’re dated early 2016, so I have until Spring 2022 before they get removed.. My goal is to get a 2016 C7 Stingray as i get closer to retirement in about 4 years! I agree with you, The ES350 is for comfort and straight line cruising... Ill be firing up my C7 when i want to get aggressive and feel the road !!
You are so right! The Lexus still feels like something special and different from Toyota. However, it seems like the Acura and the Infiniti just becomes a loaded version of their cheaper versions. I sat in a Infinity for sale that really felt like a nice Nissan. Same with Acuras are too similar to Honda. I read that the main difference is Lexus doesn't skimp on insulation. I can believe this as I have owned many of each brand over the years.
My 2013 ES350 only has 36k miles now, bought it in April 2019 with only 30k. THe original owner must’ve only drove it to church on Sundays, LOL.. only averaged about 4K miles/yr. ! Best car ive ever owned and this is car #20 since I turned 17 in 1981 ! The ride is amazing, the fit & finish is unparalleled... solid, nothing creaks ... THe original owner took delivery on August 2012, it’ll be 8 years old in a couple of months and its as solid as it was new ! I’ll be keeping this until the wheels fall off !! which will be never ! I only most bought a Avalon or Camry instead but there’s no comparison to a Lexus not even within the Toyota brand. This review is pretty spot on... as he said the ES isn’t his favorite model and it showed when he spoke of the back seat..
Your reviews are way up there😂 I love the energy you put into reviewing cars you don't like. I always get a crack each time. Very honest opinions too. I'd call it Novelty.
I have to admit I loved the tale you told about how the dealership got this car. It has "Forgive me, for I have sinned." written all over it. That said, I have to split hairs with you about the sort of person who drives one of these. I don't think that someone who doesn't care about driving would spend the money to buy one of these. I'd say that it is largely for someone who doesn't like racing all the time, or the appearance of loving to do so. You analogized the car to a '72 Cadillac. I agree, and would add that the Cadillac was hardly a sports car, but if you didn't care about driving at all, but needed the room, a '72 Chevrolet Bel Air would have done the job as well, for much less cost. As it happens. I recently tried out the hybrid version of this car. A few years older than this, so it doesn't have the spindle grille, so the front end is unendingly generic. The interior design is what works for me, I'm kind of fond of that period of Lexus interior design, that mouse controller aside. It's not as fast as the ES350, but still fast enough to run and hide from my brother's tarted up, but mechanically stock Dodge Ram pickup. I found it quiet, meaning it was amazing the things I didn't hear, but it was not flawlessly so. Or perhaps the car hasn't ended up in my hands that allows one not to hear the loud exhaust or radio of the next car over in traffic. In one review I've encountered, either video or written, I'd seen this car described as a car for someone of a certain maturity, a certain dignity.
Can anyone tell me what front bumper this is? Leave a link below if you could, This looks great and would love to do the same to my car. Any help would be appreciated
holy cow. Watched this again and realized this was the first "Bill" video I ever saw. As an ES owner I was annoyed with Bill's review. Who knew I'd grow to love them?
Sounds like the perfect car for me except for my two big dogs who like all the space in the back of their E 350 wagon. I tell them that it's their fault that it costs me $200 for an oil change.
I just found a beautiful 2017 with only 25k miles! Nice Florida car that's Eminent White with that same tan/mocha interior. Great car! Bill is so funny, one of a kind!!!!
Bill is not a huge fan of the ES350, no worries, I still love his reviews ! He makes any review interesting and funny ! TBH, German cars are EMPTY $ PITS ! Same here! I feel your pain! I have owned several new BMW'S and then I decided to take a chance and I purchased a turbo diesel E320 Mercedes and the year right after the factory warranty expired I spent over $5,300 or more in repairs and maintenance!!! Hell no! I bought a Camry amd was so impressed I purchased a 2017 E350 with only 35k miles! It's beautiful and I look forward to having it many years to come!
@@JasonFlorida nice ! I won’t ever think of owning an any German cars (maybe Porsche since that’s the only reliable one) Last April I sold my 2013 ES350 to carvana after 2 years of trouble free ownership and bought my current 2002 ES300 from the original owner at 160k Miles. Just turned 169k miles today and it’s an amazing car. Not a creak or rattle. Fit and finish is unparalleled. Comfort galore. Smaller V6 and I get even better gas mileage. 28-32 mpg straight highway driving. Around city not so great mid-high teens. Will be keeping this one for many years! In 5 years a manual C7 corvette will be my retirement gift to myself !
@@franzvanjulio5523 no C7 , they’re too expensive since covid. Just last week I completed and purchased a 1999 C5 FRC. Only 18k miles. Showroom condition. Still smells new.
@@stephendibari5010 I'm sure she gets you the same smiles. Enjoy yourself. I'm 46 but hope to follow you in similar fashion at some point when things work out that way.
@@805NAVE I have a 2000 GS400 with 85k miles. Platinum edition in platinum silver with a black interior with bird's eye maple veneer and the spoiler. I shuttered when they ditched a NA V8 for the LS and am afraid of the time the 2UR-FSE vanishes and there is no NA V8 to replace it in a Lexus sedan. Lexus is the only luxury brand still using a nice DOHC NA V8 (maybe the VK56VD counts). Also wish they kept making the GS460 for this generation.
@@kgisabeast That's going to be a desirable car in the future when there are no more NA V8s. The closest thing made now is the Infiniti Q70 with the VK56VD. A nice engine but neither the car nor the engine have Lexus's manufacturing or design quality. Though I'm sure even that engine will go away in favor of electrification.
I tried the GS with only 11k miles, everything perfect except the steering wheel was pretty heavy to me, coming from my RX350, which is very light. Is that because GS350 is a sport sedan? If I drive mostly in traffic or rush hour, my arms would be tired I guess. Should I get the ES350 then, since the steering feel much lighter?
@@rosen9425 you need to expand your search radius with the internet. Be willing to drive for a deal (or fly). You have to get them from affluent large population centers. Never by a Lexus from a small town dealer. They will ask for a fortune, due to "rarity".
ooooh, a rogue Challenger appears lighting up the scene. Nice 😊 Who reads a 14 000 page manual? Doug DeMuro, that's who! Also me. People always say "pick up a book!" so ok.. SAAB 9000 Manual 1993 issue seems like a fine specimen. They wrote with engineering passion back in those days instead of warning you about imminent death on every page or the liability waivers for even thinking about farting too close to the electrical system, voiding every warranty immediately.
ummmmm...it's "requisite"....NOT prerequisite..... go back ta skool Bro... Actually, Lexus is top drawer, top seller and they don't put xtra $ into stuff that don't matter... #1 in reliability, resale, and customer satisfaction. low info Floriduh dude...severely sub-average vocab
I too was mystified by the Canadian reference. Finally I caught a video that explained it, but I can't remember which one. Anyways, the legend was born when some large group of Canadians came to Naples. Not sure if it was some convention, or just vacation time. The story is that they were all very chipper and excited to visit Florida, and they all rented Camaro and Mustang convertibles. Live it up American style in Florida, right? So over this week or two period, all Bill would see are these convertibles, roof down, with 2 or 3 Canadians jammed in the back seat. No complaints or discomfort. They were all smiles and giggles, wide eyed and chipper, despite being crammed knees to ears in these convertibles. And that's how the legend was born. Bill will be discussing anything from a tiny 911's rear seat, to a Sienna's glovebox... 'Well you won't fit much here. Eh you can probably stuff a couple Canadians in there, I'm sure they'll be chipper!'
LMAO! This guy is a hoot. He's constantly bitching and criticizing the Lexus as he moves along pointing out its features. Meanwhile, in the background I see an ancient MG looking car with tacky 70's era generic chrome wheels, an old 90s era junker Mustang, a Mini overdone with racing stripes and so on. The Lexus looks to be the classiest car on the lot. I had to LOL when he commented that the little hidden compartment could be used to "hide drugs". At least he gave an honest personal review. He definitely has the personality of a used car salesman at one of those shady neighborhood car lots. Being in Florida, he sounds like a tough guy who most likely packs a Sig, H&K or Beretta with some serious Underwood defensive ammo. Now.....about the missing VIN on that Lexus.
Most people have better than to do than 100% enjoy driving. Many people who have collections of Ferrari's, drive a Lexus or Toyota daily, for a reason. They work. I know a guy who has at least of each of HIGH end V12 Lambo (not the paltry V10's), Rolls, Bentley, Lambo, Ferrari, Ford GT, Etc, (Etc, etc) all the fake posh crap you buy to show off to your pompous friends(who secretly has filed bankruptcy 3 times...) , but each car barely gets driving to cars and coffee once a year to impress an 11 year old. His daily car? A Toyota.
So, Lexus is a car for people who don't like to drive, wow Einstein wonder why it continues to outsell all the "driver-centric" vehicles, like the E-class, BMW and Audi's. Must be a whole lot out folk out here that are absolutely miserable driving their ESs. The funny thing is, no matter how much these euro-centric reviewers put down the ES, it remains the top selling luxury brand in it's class, for how many years, 10, 15??. When this clown can figure out why the ES remains on top, then "maybe" he can give us an unbiased review. BMW,, Mercedes and Audis are the cars you lease, Lexus is the car you buy!!
Yes, your right Lexus is the car you buy. And it has nothing to do with it being fun car to drive you moron. It is in fact not a fun car to drive. I currently own a F sport GS and there is nothing "sport" about it. Nobody, including this "clown" as you put it needs to "figure" out why Lexus is a top seller, everybody knows. Lexus is a top seller because it's a fancy Toyota(reliable)
I have a 2014 ES 350 and it has a good engine and ride. But Im trading her in for more of a performance based German 2 Door. Not sure witch one yet. But Im tired of the no fun factor with my Lexus. Bill u are on correct about this car. Miss my 77 Cutless Supreme.
I'm a little surprised to hear Bill have such a negative reaction to Lexus. He loves floaty, old, comfortable American cars. Who is building anything like that anymore? Even American companies mostly don't. But Lexus does. I could understand complaints about the styling or lack of personality but otherwise....
"And it will be very unsurprising to find here a 3.5 liter, 268 horsepower V6 . . . . Hmmm . . . [how very original, Toyota]." --Bill 🙂 ~~ I actually really like the ES350, but Bill could not be less inspired by a car.
the guy just doesnt like lexus very much. he say its relative fast. will out ran only slow cars. dude how many cars on the road will do zero to sixty in 6 seconds?????
The ES350 is such a comfortable, well made reliable car I can see why you would hate it. lol. Go back to selling unreliable cars that will break down every month to keep your customers coming back for another car.
To Mercedes loyalists, Lexus is the enemy. People complained about the Maybach 57 having the same steering wheel and instrument cluster as the S-Class but won't complain about all the Toyota buttons in a Lexus
The price of a Lexus is what an extra 30% vs a Toyota equivalent. If Maybach costs twice as much as Mercedes or more, I can see why people would hold a Bentley/ Rolls Royce competitor to a higher standard than a Lincoln/Cadillac competitor.
This is ugly in my opinion. If you don’t have a LS, you don’t have nothing. The old school ES and GS were nice. Never cared about the IS. They are baby momma cars just like Honda Civic’s.
My 2017 Buick LaCrosse AWD was made to rival this. It surpasses it in every category, performance, handling, ride,as well as looks. 0 to 60 for the Lexus,7sec.s,Buick 5.4sec.s. As for the 350 F-Sport it ain’t much quicker. The Lexus Is a quality car, don’t get me wrong, but they are everywhere driven by soulless people
