GM should pay attention and get back to this on all trucks.

Love it. Might have to go this route for the t-case also. Seams like a better option. Can’t wait to be done with mine and get them side by side on a trail. My biggest problem so far with the LS swap is the exhaust and motor mounts, being that the front frame rails in these trucks are specific to this body. That and the transmission bell housing is different as well. I should have done what you did and just left the old v6. Oh well. Working on it when I can but life happens.

Lots of great info as always! With the hybrid 233/231 I am making for mine with the JB conversions sye, would you recommend I throw a clocking ring on there to help with the front driveline angle?
@Ali_Mansour_Editor
@Ali_Mansour_Editor Год назад
I would. It's not going to hurt, that's for sure. I have mine clocked down as far as I could and I still have to run a limit strap.

Thanks, I will add that to the growing list 😂

Kelly, I think if you deleted your box and chop the back off while wedge the rear, it would look sweet instead of the short boxes that GM put on those four doors!! Just saying!!

@@MacsSpecialitiesMotorsports I will be building a full custom bed, that’s part of the plan, if I make the current bed any smaller I won’t be able to fit the rack, rtt or all my gear.
@MacsSpecialitiesMotorsports
@@MuddyBeards4X4 so true but I thought if the box is good shape you could sell it for cash for the project and before you smash it all to hell in the woods! Either way I’m excited about your new build!

So I see this truck isnt beat up like a lot of full bodies (with 4 doors no less). Seems like the S10 must be fairly narrow and WB not too long. 4 door JK Killer? Do you baby it to prevent body damage? I like the S10 or Blazer idea and also the FS 2000s Tahoe like Verne Simons...he thought it was his 4 door JK Killer but then it was too nice for him to bash on the trail and go against the JKs. I guess it was just a little too big for that comparison? Great build. I also love these S10 interiors and comfort as well as the Tahoes

The body is pretty small and the tires stick out way past the body. That has really helped keep it from being damaged. It's not babied, but I don't have any interest in doing buggy trails with it. It has a lot of trail scars, but I do my best to touch up the sliders, links, and frame after every wheeling trip. The white hides a lot. I smashed the back corner pretty good the last time I was in Windrock. I ended up just spray painting the sheetmetal damage in the back with touch-up paint and re-painted the rear bumper. I'm doing my best to preserve the truck as much as I can. I wheel with a JK on 40's a lot. His Jeep still seems to fit down the trail a little better than I do.

@@Ali_Mansour_Editor wide axles and tires...that makes sense. Thanks for the content. I've followed you since the paper magazine days. You need more garage and driveway for all those toys...but dont we all

@@chavez4lsuable Very true! Thankfully, my old man has a bunch of extra space at his house. So, I can home the overflow there for now. One day, I will hopefully build a garage large enough to house everything!

How did you set up your rear pinion angle? Any vibrations?
@Ali_Mansour_Editor
@Ali_Mansour_Editor 7 месяцев назад
Are you looking for the angle? I’ll have to check that next time I’m at the shop. The driveline has a 1350 CV at the T-case and I’ve never had an issue with vibration.
@nicholasweimortz1671

@Ali_Mansour_Editor yes the angle, i am doing a similar build based on your truck, but on a 2000 tundra. Im not sure about setting the angle of the pinion. Also not sure if a 2 peace drive shaft or single would be best. I am also running 1350 joints front and rear with an atlas behind the trans. I don't know how critical it is for the pinion yoke and drive line to t-case yoke set up is. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I understand. I can tell you from experience that a two-piece driveline can be more challenging to dial in in terms of removing a vibration. They are great at keeping the driveshaft tucked up out of the way. So, if you are going to be in the rocks, it's the better option. My S10 has a single and my Gladiator on 40's has the two-piece style. The S10 being a slightly shorter wheelbase, I've been able to get away with the one-piece shaft. It's also worth noting that the single driveline allows for more suspension travel over the two-piece.
