This was my solo Cross country flying from KGEU (glendale) to E63 (gila bend) and back in the RV-12. Learned a lot and had a great time handling ll of this solo. RV-12 is a great/fun efficient cruiser. Filmed with Gopro hero 8.
Nice job on this solo cross country, such different landscape from central Texas; if I was that other aircraft in the pattern at Gila Bend, I would have liked to know what altitude you were over-flying the airport, it would aid everyone's situational awareness. Adds almost nothing to your radio call, but is an important piece of info to share. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Own a 2012 RV-12 also... and there can be several reasons for floating so far. Too much speed on final is one of them, you can enter full flaps sooner and retrim to slow things down sooner. The other really critical aspect is what you have the idle speed set at on the Rotax 912ULS. 100 less rpm's down to 1550 on a warm motor, and adjust from there. High idle speed will make you float forever in a RV-12. Interesting that your solo XC (was this your first?) was 38.9 miles. Are you testing for a Sport Pilot license or a Private Pilot license? The RV-12 only requires a Sport Pilot license to be PIC.
