We had this problem too in MN last year, we had a good base going 3" to 4" then over a foot of heavy wet snow fall. Ruined the ice for the whole season. Slushy pockets all over the lakes, and in "solid areas" ice was layers of crusty ice on top pocket slush and water, then ice again. Too scatchy for me to be out there. So glad we have good ice this year.

I guess your camping somewhere in Aroostook county? Are you on that western region that’s all logging and no towns or highways? That’s the largest no mans land mystery zone in the entire east coast of America. I have a house in Eustis and I love hot tent camping. Only four degrees with no wind, that’s nice. Wind is the killer. Solitude when camping on the east coast is rare, winter is good for that. Cool video. 😊❤️🇺🇸❄️☃️🛷⛺️🌄

@badtama07
@badtama07 3 года назад
Why is it the snow does that ? Added weight I’m assuming ?
@PJ-si2po
@PJ-si2po 3 года назад
It is a matter of weight, the ice floats on water per example in 2 feet of ice the water would be 1/2 inch under the ice surface, if you add enough snow on top of the ice, the ice surface will get under the water line and it will over flows the ice and the water on top of the ice mixes with the snow and turns into slush

Nice video. But man... If you gonna release a fish you have to keep it in the water all the time or at least not more then a couple of seconds in the cold air. Otherwise you can just keep it because its gonna die anyway. Handling the fish like that with your hands touching it everywhere in the dry cold air will take away all the protective layer they have on the skin.

I didn’t see any this trip , but there are a ton in the area. We are lucky to not have wolves to worry about but our coyotes are huge up there. They won’t ever bother a person but they are hell on the deer yards.

I don’t like de-sliming them on their sides. They say wet hands are safe I guess, thanks for tuning in,
