A sad goodbye to Solomon Kane! This will be one of the first books I buy after my book ban expires. I’ve read 11/50 of books I already own. Thanks so much for taking us through Kane’s story!
Currently reading 'The Moon of Skulls' by Centaur press. Just finished the title story and Footfalls Within is next up...well after 'Skulls in the Stars' ;) Sounds like a good one. Thanks for not giving away the ending!
These stories, fragments, and poems are great fun to read, and your videos have been well done. I enjoyed your discussion of the progression of the character through these tales, as well as the individual plots. I look forward to your videos on Kull (Well, except for the talking cat thing; feel free to skip that. 😀).
I don’t know if you know this, but the great Ramsey Campbell wrote the novelization of the Solomon Kane 2009 movie. The book didn’t get published until 2011 for some reason. I owned the book at one point but I never got around to reading it. I imagine it would be pretty decent because Ramsey Campbell is a big fan of Robert E. Howard and the Weird Tales guys.
I'm sorry, but this is off topic.... Have You ever seen the Movie called: Sacrifice??? It's a 2020 movie that is inspired by a short story called Men of the Cloth by Paul Kane, and the works of H.P.Lovecraft....it also stars...get this...Barbara Crampton (From Beyond, and Re-Animator just 2 name a few). I just got it so I don't know if it's good yet. LoL. I don't have much on Solomon Kane what little was written ...I Loved very much. I always wished more was written from this because I always imagined many more adventures. I wonder if anyone has continued the stories??? Great Video Michael 👍😁👍
How do we know if we can trust you, dressed so casually? You could be Mike's evil twin for all we know? Or the T1000 from terminator 2... 😂 Another really interesting video 👍
I wonder whether Howard was influenced by Tennyson's poem "Ulysses" (which I love) when writing his concluding poem about Kane. The situation is very similar. What say you?
I have to stop watching! Since I subscribed two weeks ago you’ve convinced me to buy the first three John Carter novels, the shiny Penguin hardcover copies of The Great Gatsby and Tender is the Night, the Oxford world classics copy of The Great God Pan and Other Horror Stories and now Solomon Kane.
*Aggressively smacks lips...* I just bought this collection online actually, as well as the Del Rey Conan set. I became a fan of Howard just last year from reading the "Weird Works" collection which is pretty underrated in my opinion (never hear any other Howard fans talk about it). My dad was a HUGE fan back in the 70s, and he recently let me borrow his Ace/Lancer and Zebra collection. *Dramatic pause followed by smacking lips* I read a lot of high fantasy last year, and I've grown rather burned out on "epic" stories where the first book in the series is as long or longer than the entirety of "Lord of the Rings", or have chapters dedicated to exposition, world building, or magic systems. Lately I've just been wanting something simpler, and "Conan" and "Solomon Kane" have scratched that itch lately. Also, apologies for the lip smacking and dramatic pause jokes. I don't know if it was because of your location, but your lip smacks were just a lot more noticeable in this video than usual, and once I noticed them I couldn't stop. Same with your dramatic pauses. Much love and support, and keep up the great content.
@@michaelk.vaughan8617 I don't know if you saw this message before your latest video, but I didn't notice you doing it again. I've never known you to smack your licks or pause a lot while talking, so it's just something that stood out to me while watching. Apologies for bringing it up in the first place, friend. Both are just pet peeves of mine when listening to RU-vidrs. I love your videos and you've actually helped me get back into reading. I'm glad to hear someone else has the "Weird Works" volumes, and I'd love to hear you talk about them sometime. Regardless, I look forward to your future videos. God bless, and have a wonderful day.
