Solutions to Twisted Calftail Hair for fly tying 

I hav an old CD where Lefty and Clouser tie their flies. On the deceiver Lefty developed he just rips a small bunch of feather for the tail.... a clump. He doesn't clean it up just ties it in down and dirty. I've tied it both ways the down and dirty method actually has better action. Your site is one of my favorites. Thanks

thanks for this - all my kip tails have kinky hair. never would have thought of using a flat iron on my materials. now i have to raid my wife's hair care tools...
