Would not miss an episode. Nelson, you are the star of this show from beginning to end. So many heroes in this world work behind the scenes and never recognized. Brittany and Drew, your job making a home inside/out will continue from now on. The home will be beautiful.❤
As an American, I appreciate y’all’s relationships with all the tradesmen you are working with. I actually commented on a very popular UTube channel in Portugal that it would be nice to acknowledge the guy he had filming that day. And he responded that he was JUST paid help and didn’t matter. So rude but at least he wasn’t American.
Thanks you for your meaningful words. That a shame that someone would answer in such a way. We value our workers so much and couldn't to this project with out their help and knowledge. We hope to have a celebratory party with them at the very end!
I don't know what you pay Nelson, but he's worth every penny (or euro). I had a small excavator in my business (I'm now retired) and I couldn't use it anywhere near the level that Nelson does. What a lucky find for you guys!
If you cut some of the thinner (younger/newer) branches of the fig tree, and stick them in a bucket of water, they will root and create new trees! 💕💕🌱🌱
I know you have to do so much to bring the watermill up to code, but Portugal has to be so pleased with the improvements you have made. I keep thinking about that proverbial elephant and your progress of eating him one bite at a time. I've got to believe that he is disappearing very quickly, and it won't be long before he's completely gone. I can't tell you how impressed I am with your progress in turning this land into a beautiful Shangri-La. I hope all of you that are watching these videos...Please Subscribe, it costs nothing.
Do not waste fig wood, just make cuttings and stick it in the ground. You can replace all those eucalyptus trees with figs :). Figs are easy to propagate and fast grovers, tons of info on youtube or local people advice
Utilities: Power - solar for now, water - well, 2 tanks, possibly future roof run-off collection, stream, gray and black water - closed septic, later a bio-septic/gravel system. Kudos to Nelson. Some more landscaping projects. Main infrastructure work getting done in the dry season.
I enjoy watching your progress. Please keep an extra pump so you don’t get caught without a pump when that septic pump fails. We must pump and ours failed Friday night of a 3 day holiday. We were without a pump for 4days. Resulting in staying at our daughter’s home until the new pump was installed. Congratulations on your progress. ❤
Controlling the water level in both septic tanks is critical. You will need an automatic electrical control panel with low water and high water levels floats connected to start and stop the septic pump, you need an audible high-level alarm alarm. and you need a submersible pump designed for sewage. Good luck
congrats with the giant strides forward. all the men who have been working to refurbish your magical water mill have been amazing. i especially have such mad respect for nelson!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼praying for your folks, floridians and neighboring states with the impending tropical storm debby. continued blessings.🕊
I enjoyed your happiness ! When you live in a city or suburb one doesn't think of water, electricity or sewerage. It's been a very informative episode. Thanks.
why not it's a cost you should look to save water at least, we have it in abundance here until summer then its an issue. I save it all year for the plants.
Wow! Congradularions! The infrastructure, plumbing, sewer and electrical are the critical parts of a building! Thanks to Nelson and extraordinary expertise for helping you get your habitation license!❤❤❤
Nice to see Nelson again! You guys have and incredible team of folks and family helping to make your dreams come true! I can hardly wait to see the end product with all your creativity and hard work! Once your home becomes a reality, I wonder how your adventures will change.
Another huge accomplishment! I sure hope the lid was placed onto the first container ( by the house )🎉 before any rains came. Does Nelson feel like he's " moved in with you both? " Will be amazing to see all after the terra forming is accomplished. Bet the town councils didn't think you two would ever make it this far! Love to mom and dad for all the helping. Your land and castle are gonna need a HUGE MANUAL for all the upkeep on everything! Better include a "History room " to house it all. Sigh.
As Tropical storm Debby goes across Florida, my prayers are with the residents of that state. My prayers are also with your family which endured losses 2 years ago. Prayerfully your family will not be in this tropical storm.
Good afternoon my dearest friends I wish guys the best I am Portuguese I live in Florida Palm Coast I wish you everything good for your parents here in the other side the golf course Florida we are in the same waiting for the hurricane be safe love you❤❤
I’m subscribed to Drew and Brittany’s channel, and what an amazing adventure it has been! Look forward for to Sundays besides going to church. You never know what blessings await you! Operating the equipment for Nelson, is like a third arm! So excited for you!👏🙏🏻💕
Your determination to solve the complicated septic issue while transforming the watermill into your dream home is truly admirable. Your commitment to tackling challenges with such perseverance and creativity highlights your remarkable dedication to making your vision a reality. And I am Floating Village Life.
I've been wondering if the rocky soil breaks off teeth from Nelson's bucket or just keeps them very sharp with all that dragging over the stones. Nelson seems to be a master at his craft.
Quick question before I forget - Drew you just explained that you had to fill the septic tanks with water so they aren’t damaged by pressure - that makes so much sense (glad you explained that like you do lots of things)… one thought I had was does the water you filled them with need to be changed or have anything added to make sure it doesn’t go “funky” or it it ok as it will be closed (especially the one to use later). Keep up the amazing work - I’m so invested in your story and oh my goodness your Portuguese lessons sure have paid off - you both seem bi-lingual now! 😊
What a happy & exciting video!!! Loved watching every moment if this! Everyone is trucking !! Nelson is just extraordinarily talented with that machine! A good friend at that!!! See you all on the next one! Cheerio !! ❤❤❤
Great job you guys! Our neighbor had a septic system like this put in a few years ago. It's a small property with a house and garage, so the men didn't have much room to work in. There are gardens planted over it now.
Drew and Britany You Both are Brilliant! Just look at your Dream coming to Life! > All the Planning / organizing / researching / ordering / timing of everything / coordinating all the workers / paperwork / language barriers AND amazing....Filming & Editing ! Plus...all the Physical Work! Building-Renovated a 'normal' house is stressful enough. But...Thinking out side the Box. (Then....Working in that HEAT) God Bless you both. 🙏 > Not many could do this!!!
Nelson is doing such a fantastic job! It's interesting to watch everything come together. Nice to see your dad again helping with the shipping container project. Not sure if Drew's parents are still there but we /in Florida are dealing with a tropical storm -Debby that has brought a lot of rain and some flooding. Hoping their property is okay. I remember you two helping out after Hurricane Ian and how much damage there was.
So exciting to watch the work being down but I got really excited looking at the overview and seeing all the work that has been done! Wow!!! Oh a loved the little pool! Those are so necessary in hot climates! And making whirlpools in them is fast and fun! ❤
Congrats!if you can find old twin bed spring you could keep your natural pond clean put itin your pond drag it out w/ a big chain attached to pick up.this is what we used do in northern MN. Once it was clean we only had to do it once a yr.😊
Y’all have come such a long way. That system is so complex and explained so well. It is so exciting to watch. Each time watching to see you one step closer Blessings continue for the awesome journey.
What a job Nelson is doing really he is quite a strong worker all the projects are very challenging both of you using all that energy but well done improving your future thank take care getting there important days ahead water clean and septic tank very good see you bye
Nelson is amazing and so informative of his country. Your videos are the best.❤❤ Your folks must love learning about your new country as well. Through your homestead journey you have bought some amazing, warm and friendly, smart people into your life. I am sure they think the same way about you two. Thankyou for sharing your journey. ❤❤
Where I live, we only have sewage going into the septic tank. The gray water from the rest of the house goes into a different system from the shower the kitchen, the dishwasher, the sink all that water goes to a holding tank andis filtered. And used for watering the garden flowers whatever else flushing the toilet because you don’t need clean water to flush the toilet
Another great video. I know each day makes it more and more exciting and plus more anxious to get moved in. You guys worked so hard for all this. I love the Fort Myers Beach t shirt. I am going back end of the month there. Much love, Mathew in Switzerland
