Finally got around to making FORScan changes to my 2018 F-150 Lariat! Love these changes and it was simple to do. Be sure to know what changes you are going to make before you do this - there are a ton of possibilities in here !

Your video is great and very informative. I have a 2003 Lincoln Navigator and a 2011 Ford Taurus SEL. My interest is mostly for diagnostics, such as misfires, etc.. The Navigator is now 20 years old. With that in mind, will ForScan take care of diagnostics for both vehicles? Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for watching. I am honestly not sure. I only used it to make system changes. I am not sure if it has system logs or not.

I think you need one of those fancy computers mechanics use to figure out misfires and whatnot. Those computers are like $6,000..

What you are seeing is a result of no rehearsals or practice. This was my second time ever seeing the software and all of the codes does not work as they should. I was experimenting with a lot of the codes and cutting out the content - getting viewers to the end result. If i were to do this now, it would take me only minutes to find, and apply changes. forscan works on any ford lincoln mercury (and select mazda) from 1996 to 2023

Has any of this messed with your warranty at all? I figure with over the air updates that Ford could easily detect that the PCM was changed

I doubt it since it's their settings and you can always change it back to factory before taking it in. Make sure to save the original settings prior to changing anything with forscan. Plus nothing will void a warranty unless the dealer can prove that the said modification caused the issue in question.

I keep getting the message that an extended license is required. This used to be possible with the free license, does this not work anymore?

You should be able to just reapply for another free license and that will take care of the message that you're seeing. Have you tried this already?

@@JamesAtkinsTv That was the issue. I misunderstood the new licensing structure and thought the extended license was no longer required.

@@100pyatt you dont need the full license to use system, use the free software trial - if it ever expires you just apply for another trial. Its dumb but they give the software away, haha

Great video, I'll be doing some FORScan'n as soon as I get a Windows comp., I have a MacBook. I have a 2015 Lariat FX4 SuperCrew Cab and had a gas gauge problem stating different miles to go, 'Ford said they replaced it' under warranty...? Wow, I've never noticed this!! I wonder if it had anything to do with me having the truck idle for long periods of time? I will say that I did not have any issues from this or noticed that one day I would have drastically different mileage than previous.

@@JamesAtkinsTv You would have to idle for a long time to loose gas equal to 21mi. (points 2>3.) Did you go get ≈4 gallons of gas when or if you drove 0.4 mi. (points 1>2) and added 48 miles to E? I always worried about running out of gas with those conflicts...which one is correct?

@@dpurp6 Haha, no I am not asserting that the idle is what caused the difference. I think that you initial message is valid and I never noticed that before. I am going to just simply get it checked out and ask them if the guage+sensor operating properly. Thankfully I have this video and your comment to refer to when I show them! 😃

dumb question but how can you tell if a truck has power folding mirrors but are just not enabled?

Great question, actually! Generally, the Lariat models or higher come with power folding mirrors stock from the factory. If you have power folding mirrors there will be a button next to the side mirror adjust buttons with an arrow pointing inward - that will be the button that you will know if you have power folding mirrors or not.

Forscan is free. Its only one version if I am not mistaken. Once you find the forscan codes, the link to to download the software is in the spreadsheet.

@@rick6222 honestly all of them do the same thing. I went to Amazon and got the one from ODBLink. That was the highest rated brand and the one that eveyone else was using.
