Just June here!
Shorter video this time, it's all about music and the helpful impact it's had on me. I say it at the end, but I wanna reiterate, that I'd love to hear from all of you! What are your go-to songs when you need a pick-me-up?
As always, be yourself and be well. ♡

just listened to the Joke. its AMAZING. Was in detention for 3 years as a witness young man, so i am very very sensitive as a musician to these kinds of songs. The Austrsalian Royal comission which I thought was going to be an "incredible Witness" woke me up BIGTIME,... as a father of 2 daughters after there were molestation problems in our congregation in Bloemfontein North South Africa. It snowballed untill I was fully awake from all the false doctrine and I got my wife out, but sadly my youngest daughter is still in and married to a witness guy who thinks he is Gods gift to human kind.

Your son’s performance brought me to tears. 🥹 You have got to be SUCH a proud mama!!!! You and your family. Wow. Bursting with passion, talent, wit, creativity, wisdom, empathy, and, warmth. Three scoops of life. As I said previously; you were not built to be confined to a box…like wildflowers buried under concrete, you cracked it open, and, you sprang forth. I have a strong sense that, even while you and your husband were practicing witnesses, your children did not endure some of the more oppressive family dynamics other children of witness families dealt with…the JW kids with whom I grew up REALLY suffered. They didn’t share their pain with us, but, it was as obvious as could be. It just doesn’t seem in your nature. It as if your family’s energy was naturally freer, even living within the constraints of the religion. I hope you are all very proud of yourselves. Again, thank you for shining your light in the world, and, for sharing your personal journey/s. Whether your viewers have broken free of cults/religious indoctrination or not, we have all faced (-and, continue to face) challenging personal struggles. Your story inspires and enlightens us all. I know your content certainly resonates with me! P.S. Your new opening/video intro is BRILLIANT.

Hey Ms. June. 😊 Thank you so much for sharing your son’s wonderful voice. That made my day. I wanted to comment to share the songs that helped me the most. Honestly, they have all had the biggest influence on my life. It is four different songs by Garth Brooks: Unanswered Prayers, The Dance, The River, & Standing Outside the Fire. Each one of them has a different message behind why would should never give up and keep going despite it feeling like the odds are stacked against us. Hopefully they bring your or someone in your comments as much strength as they have me over all these years.

Holy macaroni Thomas is amazing!! Had to listen to him twice in a row, and will definitely share. The feels are real 🤩 Amazing talent 👍🏾👍🏾As for the song, I would say that the entire Linkin Park Hybrid Theory albun was big for me. I was in my early 20's and questioning everything at that point. Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill album was also instrumental- Buut, the winner for me I think is, the song "It's a Sin", by the Pet Shop boys. I used to play one that on repeat gearing up for wild party nights in San Francisco (while I was still a jw) 😅👍🏾

Sleep Token have been a massive help for catharsis related to my religious trauma, songs like "the way that you were" "levitate" "are you really ok?" "take me back to eden" i listen to them almost every day, and every single time is like being surrounded by a comforting hug
@JustDeannaJune

I'm glad you found something that helps you feel comforted! I had never heard of them, so I looked them up. They have quite a following! Very powerful! I'm not a huge rock fan for the most part. That's my husband! But the lyrics are absolutely amazing. I listened to several songs. Including 'Take me back to Eden' Great voice and guitar! I go to the extremes of R&B, hip hop and rap (that's what I grew up on) then to folk and blues. As I said in the video, a song I love that helped me through my hurt and pain of all the JWs ignoring me and my family was a song by Brandi Carlisle called The Joke. It's slower but really says what I feel about the way they treat me in a strong way. Thank you for sharing!!! Keep on listening and get that 'Hug' daily! 🤗🩷

@@JustDeannaJune I forgot to add a song that has really helped me. It is from the group A-ha, not one of their better known tunes, but absolutely beautiful. It is called You Have What It Takes. For someone who was told there was nothing of worth in them aside from how they served a multi billion dollar printing company, the lyrics are a balm to your soul.

Well said. I used to study and get very involved with the JW community. I went to meetings, assemblies and convention's. I remember when they used to demonize certain types of music. One i knew was just into classical music and believed that that's the only music that would get into the new system. I was told that I can't be pleasing Jehovah listening to my music. Someone once told me that I can listen to any music I want. I love many different types of music as I have a huge collection at home, some of it the Jehovah witnesses would find inappropriate. My collection ranges from smooth melodies to loud and fast guitar music. I I'm into Jazz, soul, reggae, hip hop, punk and indie rock, some folk and some progressive rock from the 70s and psychodelic rock from the 60s plus some 50s rock N roll. There's so much out there to discover musically from past to present. By the way, your son is good, better than some Pop artists. And you look nice. I would date you if you weren't married. Keep up the good work 🙂❤️🪘🎸🥁🎺🎷🤘

I listen to clips from The Voice (show is virtually all countries), AGT, BGT. Many touch your heart, make me feel good, or smile. Your son is very good. List is long. First ones were Anthony Riley - the voice, then Jonathon Antoine-BGT, Panda Ross, Harrison Craig, Karise Eden- The Voice, Nightbird- It's OK, Sean Miley Moore, etc etc. Stories behind some of these are powerful.
@jokich6379
@jokich6379 Год назад
@@JustDeannaJune It is simply great that he has an incredible talent to embrace, share, and enjoy. Parents had just died. Got hooked first by Anthony Riley, then Jonathon Antoine- would listen to their same audition song several times for an hour or more. Made me smile at an unhappy and very stressful time. Riley eventually committed suicide; Jonathon is very successful. Nightbird got the gold buzzard but had serious cancer and subsequently died. Karise Eden was basically homeless as a young child and had bad experiences- eventually had foster couple who gave her a guitar. She sang for her audition in first episode of the voice in Australia- It Is A Man's World- most powerful version I have ever heard. Panda Ross's mother gave birth to her while she was in jai She first appeared in America. Did not win. Then attempted to go appear in England- think AGT and BGT- not the Voice. Had a life of drugs etc etc. Cleaned up her act after almost getting killed on the street. And successfully raised h er two children. I love their stories a much as their powerful voices which often come from a broken heart or tragedy.

Your son's singing is powerful. I've listened to it several times since yesterday, allowing it to resonate deeper inside each time until I was able to let it make me cry. What a powerful song that has a special meaning to anyone who's gone through or is going through a de-conversion. I know you speak to the community of former Jehovah's Witnesses, but the subject of your videos appeals to a wider audience then you may realize. I was a lifelong Christian and serving as a pastor of a small country Church when my de-conversion came to a head. Looking back the process started 30 years ago but serving in that role brought it to the forefront. One of the things that gave me comfort was music. On Sunday morning driving to church preparing to lead worship and preach a sermon I would put on AC/DC Back In Black and crank the volume as loud as it would go. I couldn't possibly explain in this comment the significance of that album, but it's meaning to me was immense. Sometimes I would have to drive the long way just to listen to the whole album. I would arrive at church ready to face one more Sunday Service. I look forward to more from you and your family.

Ahhh… that must be it…. sorry ‘RU-vid”… I didn’t know…! So anyway, I’ll try again without the link…. Music is SO amazing!! I have LOVED listening and singing to music, since I was 4 years old and listened to my mom’s radio at night in her bed, trying to go to sleep after my dad died… I had to hear “Stranger on the Shore” before I would sleep. I was df’d twice and reinstated twice… then I faded when I felt I had come to the conclusion that I just could NEVER be GIOOD enough… I just had too many questions but KNEW I couldn’t ask them…. Too many things just didn’t seem right. I always thought I’d go back, but finally I realized I most likely never would and with family in another circuit it was easy to hide for awhile… but was getting harder to keep them from knowing…. At that period of time I listened to “Runaway Train” by Soul Asylum ( on repeat all day long.) many many days… I went to Amazon Music since I didn’t want to close this page, to see that I would spell ‘Asylum’ right… so while I was there, I hit ‘play’… WOW… I had NO IDEA that song would trigger me the way it did…As I started hearing the words once again, I began crying uncontrollably!!! Talk about indoctrinated and mind controlled… thought I was over it…. I am at the point ( finally) where I have decided to write a disassociation letter… In fact my 50th baptism anniversary is coming up this spring and just yesterday I had decided that would be a good date to hand over my letter… What do you think?? Hmm.. song is still playing on loop as I rewrote this…Sure do LOVE that song!!! ❤ I hope you listen to the Soul Asylum version of “Runaway Train” and check out the lyrics!! Very close to 💯 % of those lyrics fit how I was feeling and thinking… Then I had some others, but this was my favorite for many years…. 🎧🎤.
