Tarsis Orogot had no prior experience running indoors before coming to the US. Indoor tracks don’t exist in Uganda because the weather there is warm all year round. With that in mind, that ncaa indoor silver will turn into an ncaa outdoor gold. 19.60!
He's also 20 years old, not a 17 or 18 year old freshman. Not having experience with an indoor track is basically everyone. They run maybe 2 or 3 events a year indoor if that.
So he's another foreigner that's here to use the training facilities and coaches for a year or two only to run for his own national team against us? I remember when wearing school colors use to mean something
You are NOT wrong about Tarsas looking extremely similar to Lyles.... especially in the second half. Damn. His stride, arm swings and even head movement almost mirror that of Lyles. Idk if that is on purpose, or simply his natural running style?? Either way, we may have a new young phenom who could really surprise come Worlds?? That is if he has anything left in the tank? Too many times I've seen these insane NCAA stars run themselves so thin by mid summer, that they're mere shells of themselves come the major Championships. I hope he don't run himself into the ground before that... he's incredibly exciting to watch.👍🔥🔥
I remember watching him in U20 World Championships in 2021 Nairobi. He was pure speed with a debatable technique, a young ugandan man with a lightning drawn on his haircut. Happy to see young talents from all over the world growing up successfully not wasting their potential
I don’t wanna say too much, but as a Ugandan who started following this guy last year at the Oregon World Championships, I have high hopes for Tarsis Orogot… this guy has enormous potential and he definitely has what it takes to reach the WC finals. The only problem is, the field is stacked with serious experience… you look at Lyles, Knighton, Bednarek, Bracy, De Grasse, Fanbuleh and other runners, then realize how hard and hot it’s gonna be for the rest to get to the final. But fingers crossed, he might get there
I think Orogot has potential to be an all time legendary 200 meter runner, with regards to this season I think at best he will hit around 19.65-19.70 if he runs well
Orogot is an excellent sprinter. His turnover, stride, power, and form are almost perfect. If he stays healthy I believe he will run 19.59 with legal wind of +1.5 up to +2.0. I Would not be surprised at all. At a meet where he's only running the 200 and no other races in great weather conditions. We shall see tho. Good luck man 🏃🏿
Kenya and uganda starting to give people a run for their money in sprints. Watch out, when we do things...we put our all because it's either that or nothing
Knighton hit a crazy PR at this meet last year and didn't end up getting close to it the entire rest of the season, something gotta be fishy about the meet timings or officials the way people are setting insane PBs.💀
Knighton did that at the LSU invitational at Benie Moore stadium in Baton Rouge Louisiana. I agree that something was up with that time because it was too outrageous especially so early and he never even came close to it again. This one I can say the wind was strong. It's hard to extrapolate the wind because it's not just blowing at the same strength the whole time. Fanbullah only ran 19.92 at that event with Knighton. It's a good time but it's not no where near 19.49...
It's interesting how the 200 has somewhat become the race to watch. I don't care too much for the 100 anymore but that 200 has me watching like crazy. Orogot will hang around that 19.8 mark and fizzle due to the long collegiate season.
not surprised at all he threw down a time like that. like i said in one of your indoor videos about him. when that guy gets moving, he is the perfect example of why we used to call it floating back in the late 90s and early 2000s when someone was running really fast. his stride and form make it look like hes floating on air as he runs
Man this year is already crazy 🤦🏾♂️ there is a young hurdler a senior in high school ran a 12.9 in the 110 hurdles and signed to run for the university of Kentucky I’ll admit I feel slow lol it seems like the new generation athletes have more raw talent and speed
Fahnbulleh, Ashe, M.Willams and Boiling all at 22 yrs old better achieve greatness quick because YOUNGER talent in Knighton, Tebogo and Orogot ain't waitin' on nobody! Track and field's shelling out talent like nobody's business!!!
It’s about time that a Ugandan runner stepped up, however when the championships come, please let’s not get too carried away. Don’t forget “The Freight Train” is coming and Mathew Boling “Mr. Rolling” is currently in top form! I am hoping all three are in healthy condition at the end of the season.
@@dondada5733 if you don’t know who Matthew Boling is, then let me inform you! He is currently a student at University of Georgia The Bulldogs, he is about 5’11” to 6’1” tall European American ( White ) and runs like Michael Johnson (Black) he is a spectacular track and field athlete, he runs the following 100,200,400 meters and 2 relays he is ranked 3 or 2 in the world depending upon the event! I have followed him since high school where he was the number 1 high school athlete in track & field in the world! Now I am African American and I know this, if you don’t then maybe you should follow another sport?
There is only one wind gauge in the 200m on the straightaway. Nothing on the turn. A runner could have an illegal wind through the whole race like these guys probably had. Or you could have a legal wind on the straight but a big illegal wind on the curve but the race would still be legal. I think that's what happened in Knighton's 19.49.
@@dennisrobinson8008 I’m just suggesting the wind gauge may have been off in just their heat. The other guys who went sub 20 had never gone sub 20.50 and 20.30. That’s 3 guys who PR’d by almost half a second. That’s kinda crazy.
@@Ghoster311 thanks…I wondered how they factored the turn in with the wind. There’s not much that can be done but it makes PRs kinda dubious. I could see certain tracks effected more by structure placement and wind origins.
At twenty years old is the right time to be running these times..when 18 years old are running these times u know they ain't going nowhere because they have reach their full potential by overtraining .. looking forward to this guy beating knighton and the other ripe too soon pretenders to Usain bolt throne and eventually breaking the world record
Let's be clear, +0,8 illegal tailwind is not a slight advantage, it's a lot. Many don't know that X amount of tailwind impact is not equal to X amount of headwind's. Tailwind helps you more than how much headwind holds you back. Neverthless it's a huge time, has hell lot of potential!
@@FisicoKart1 unfortunately not, I can personally confirm that too. To be fair the amount of impact the wind has on you also depends on your anatomy, how tall, how big you are. What's more it's also important where do they measure the official wind. Also the wind speed and direction can easily change in ~20 seconds and due to the shape of the track. it happens that at the start you have some tailwind, sidewind at the bend and headwind at the home staright. So it's difficult to compare two separate races/heats with "equal" wind speeds
@@tamasbrenyo1348 well, it’s mostly because when there is strong wind and I do for instance a 200m - on a straight, the time loss due to the headwind is double or triple what I gain from the tailwind when I run the 200 in the opposite direction. But that may be just me, and may differ at the top level too. With a 200m on the track, the wind reading is a lot more ambiguous indeed
He will run 19.40 before the NCAA Championship. The guy is a freak of nature and has one of the best top end accerations I've ever seen. My son runs with this guy at alabama and said that this would happen this week. Great athlete hands down. YesssssSaaaaa!!!!!
Yes Ugandans can sprint. John Akiibua won Gold in 400m hurdles at the Munich Olympics 1972.( 50yrs ago) . It is better than Kenya's 60yrs between Serafino Antao & Ferdinand Omanyala in 100 m sprint.
So much for that video all about Fanbullah yesterday. This video proves the point I tried to make yesterday. Fanbullah may never win another event in his life. With all that high end speed, he's got 20 guys ahead of him.
i had to rewind and watch 3:54 a few times cos 1978 looks absolutely huge in comparison to her teammate 1986 that she hands the baton to and thats with her a good 1-2 metres behind her dam
You produce great video content, but not everything has to be “ridiculous”, “insane”, “incredible”, “unbelievable” etc. can we appreciate these achievements in more understated ways?
Someone who is that young, running that fast, this early in the year, it is possible for a 19.4x. Now, I do not think it will happen, but the younger you are the more likely it will happen as your muscle structure is still coming into its final formation
I have nothing against Alfred. Her times are very fast, I don't see her maintaining that speed until August for the World Championship, unless she is a machine
This is insane! I'm old so remember some of Michael Johnsons career, and till 1996 Atlanta where Fredericks did 19.68 and MJ did the iconic 19.32 ( beating Minnea's 1972 WR by 0.4sec! ), noone got close to Pietro Minneas (altitude but still) WR of 19.72 from 1979 ... as in ever, in 17 YEARS of even 1980s doping running. Even with extra wind, noone I recall got even close till MJ ... Now 3 school dudes just ran as fast as ANY OLY final till 1996 iirc ... just SO fast the youth now! Love yout TRP!
Apart from Mike Marsh doing 19.73 at sea level in 1992, Carl Lewis doing 19.75 and celebrating early in 1983, Joe de loach doing 19.75 in 1988, Lewis doing 19.79 in 88 behind him plus a host of 19.8s at sea level as well you mean? 😂
Carl Lewis should've and would've had it in one particular race I remember watching but he raised his arms and started showboating at least ten to fifteen meters before the line---WHY I HATE THE FINGER WAGGING OR TURNING YOUR BODY LATERALLY IN MOCKERY OF OPPONENTS.Celebrate yes...fist pump yes....AFTER THE RACE!..and you should be shaking your opponents hands because they forced your response that led to victory or your greatest accomplishments.
@@martintownsend6694 Absolutely .. in the semi he "floated" round !! .. Think he'd have run 19.6 had he realized how fast he was going .. Great memories, scary how fast time flies too !!
@@steve-from-toronto allowable is a joke and varies by measuring deice. There are world records that were likely over according to research and under for others who had world record times disqualified due to wind readings. Was he running into a head wind on the curve and then suddenly hit the straight away and it blew him down the straight?
I understand that you have to make content, but just like with Shacarri, we shouldn't be talking about win assisted times like their impressive, especially with them not counting.
The Fourth Amendment guarantees Freedom of Expression and what is "insane, crazy or epic" to one person may depend on the wind but the wind might not make that much difference to another person.
@@vernonfrance2974 And he can say "that athlete's impressive performance was under an illegal wind". Don't get me wrong I enjoy the coverage, but there's definitely a valid case against it lol.
