Forgiveness does not negate consequence. FORGIVENESS does NOT negate CONSEQUENCE. She can forgive him and love him and HELP HIM by planting a seed via SUING him. There aren't too many places a person can go in their mind to justify and convince themselves of wrong doings as transparent as this. Allowing him to go without consequence... I'm a pretty laid back person but when it comes to allowing people to walk all over you, in my experience, they do it to others until they're stopped or something clicks within them. I couldn't let my son go without consequence... In my mind, A) I'm doing my son no favors to let this go. I'm letting him run into a busy the street w blinders and I don't care how old he is or what he "should" already know. He's my son and I know this isn't going to bring joy to his life to behave like this. I'll plant seeds as long as I can and where there's earth to plant them. B) he's more likely to be a repeat offender. Others could suffer. Other people's families, children could suffer if he took them for all they had. No way am I showing him that it's okay to do this to anyone. I won't be that person. I won't leave a lit candle in the house. I am fully capable of forgiving his slight against me and that releases me. I can love him to eternity and I can do both of those things as I follow through with the consequence. We have enough corruption in this world and I wouldn't walk away from an opportunity to prevent a piece of it from continuing. -I can't feel enough for this mama. Really really hope her heart heals.

Simple: what is not earned with HARD work, will NOT be appreciated. Do not give anyone anything, especially your own kids/family members, if they don't work hard to earn it.

If he's going to do this to his mother than maybe he shouldn't have come back from Iraq.

This is painful to watch. I’m having bad memories of my brother. Trusted him. Was out 10 grand but had to let it go. Final straw was when my older brother & I went to our hometown after 10 years to visit. There was no marker on Dad’s grave. With all of us present younger brother agreed to “take care of it” at the funeral home. We agreed to split it 3 ways. After that I was done with him. He never let us know, just let Dad sit there with dirt/grass. And he never paid a penny for a marker. I’m at peace now. Older brother & I got a marker.

I agree with you. Why would anyone want any kind of relationship with a thief especially if that thief was your own mother.

So sad . Parents do so much for their children trusting them they would help them in distress . This is heartbreaking story when he used them and finally said he could do nothing. Doesn't he have little bit of love and gratitude to his parents? Feel sad for the elderly couple who have to work now to pay their mortgage

As much as I want to say her and her husband should have known better I can hear in her voice she's a sweet naïve lady who loves her son so much and he took advantage of that. How could he be so cruel to her? It's not even the money it's the heartless act itself.

What a scumbag. Disabled parents practically at retirement age, thrown under the bus after they try to help him out? AND his wife is backing him up saying they’re not getting anything? That’s TWO scumbags not one. You can’t get any lower that that.

Yeah in the it's where I have come down...Ive given my kids money, thousands, but I would never LOAN them a dime. Only once have we co-signed for a family member and it was a auto payment set to come from our account never really cared once if they paid or not because we treated it as our debt.

Because there is not really an option to recover the money.. I would put it in the perspective of "this was your inheritance, given to you in advance" and let the money go (emotionally/mentally) as such, knowing that you have provided for him as you would have intended in your passing, and owing/providing him nothing further.
