Not to mention Smash Ultimate was Teased, revealed w/ gameply & released In 10-11 months Meanwhile Frontiers has almost 2 years from Tease to release and is in a much worst condition

Personally I feel Mario Odyssey and Kirby & The Forgotten Land make for better comparisons. Even though those games have simpler plot elements: Odyssey’s First trailer summed up the main plot and showed us about 4 Kingdoms. It also gave us a look at Mario’s New Hat throw and teased Cappy at the end. Trailer 2 showed us Cappy’s importance besides just using the Hat as a boomerang, and because this was at E3 we got a good chunk of gameplay, but the trailer is what gave you a taste of what was to come in a good way. Forgotten Land’s first trailer, didnt really provide much besides the setting the game would take place in and the fact that it was a 3D game. The second one however gave us a general gist of the plot, and various screenshots help explain the plot, gameplay, and new characters along with the game’s expandable hub world. Trailer 3 went into detail about the new mechanics, and hyped up the plot a bit more. Sonic Frontiers started by not giving us any actual gameplay. We still dont have a plot summary, what the main goal of the levels are, or an in depth view of the combat. Honestly Forces’s marketing did this too and we see how that game turned out

Think back to stages like Green Hill, Chemical Plant, Hydrocity, Mushroom Hill, Ice Cap, Sky Sanctuary, Emerald Coast, Windy Valley, Speed Highway, Lost World, Pumpkin Hill, etc. And then you have this mediocre ass grassy plains.

Sonic was always "automated". Especially the boost games. So why cry about it now?

@@xthewhitewolf There’s a difference between linear gameplay and Automated gameplay. Sonic games have had their fair share of automation yes but only in small amounts for set pieces and such for the most part the games were about skillfully navigating levels in boost games yes it may be linear but you have multiple pathways and have to react to obstacles. Frontiers is just finding an automated section going through it then looking for another one

@@laudj_art knuckles guarding the master emerald gives the chaos a plot point to be reinserted into the game. Plus if you look at those purple coins from before they definitely have chaos on them. Not sure how the coins play in, but I think it's almost certain chao are back

@@jaymarcase9737 Well first of all they did put a disclaimer in the last IGN sonic frontiers video. Second of all, Sega’s marketing sucks and it’s been bad for a while. This just shows why companies usually release traditional trailers when it’s around 6 months before release. When the teaser for the gameplay came out, people were way more positive then on the IGN videos.

@@boygamer1771 The 7 minutes of long gameplay they showed was boring. It was literally nothing but Sonic running around an empty world solving puzzles. Old build or not, WHY show that first? True, the whole point of trailers is to give folks a taste of whatever game is in development, but they're also supposed to excite people into wanting to play it, not bore them to death or make them wonder about the game's quality when it DOES come out. This is supposed to be triple A game development and honestly, I'm still not impressed. They seriously should've WAITED and made a better build that showed the game in much better light than what they showed off originally. Every time they show this game off, everyone is mixed on it myself included. My opinion, the game needs a delay.

Yes, we get that companies do that, that's common knowledge. But companies will make trailers that showcase all the things that are working and edit out the things that are not. The goal is to convince your fans to buy it, and the best way to do that is to put your best foot forward. But instead of doing this, SEGA decided to do the opposite and put all of the game's flaws and bugs on display during that first showcase, while not even showcasing enough good stuff to distract the viewers from the bad. If you were promoting a car with next gen levels of self-driving AI, but the prototypes just wouldn't turn on 3 out of 5 times, would you show a commercial of a guy struggling to get it to turn on? No, because that would be stupid. You show the car's self-driving capabilities, and make sure the ignition problem is fixed by launch. Not sure why this is so hard to understand?

@@cb6983 Which would you show? The latest buggy and unstable version not yet ready for presentation or the older, less buggy, more stable by comparison, and easily presentable older version? Also, cars are not videogames. The comparison here does not work because these are two completely different products with completely different purposes. A better comparison would be an animated show and its pilot; the former is the finalized product, and the latter is a mockup aired to garner interest and get viewership and feedback. Heck, trailers for animated shows even have differences between them and the final products, so that's another reason why this would be a better comparison. But then again, you're trying (and failing) to provide an actual GOOD counter via a completely different product with a completely different form of marketing. So, yeah. Considering the version that we're seeing only really has technical issues at best and the mildest of gameplay issues at worst. I'd say the issue is that they're putting their best foot forward but presenting said foot horribly.
