Amy Rose in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (aka Amy in Sonic 2) is a character swap hack Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Mega Drive, with character Amy Rose as playable character in place of Sonic the Hedgehog. The game's sprites (modified from Sonic CD) use Amy's initial design prior to Sonic Adventure.
The game was modified by Sonic Retro member E-122-Psi, with additional programming and coding by other members including MarkeyJester, MainMemory, FraGag, Selbi and Hayate.

One year ago, Sonic Origins Plus was Released, which allows us to play as Amy & allowing to play Sonic Game Gear games. Owners of Sonic Origins must purchase the Plus Expansion Pack.

I really like Amy's 2D moveset. She is such a unique character to play as. I actually played through all 3 of the classic games as her. I would like to suggest you play as Sally Acorn in one of the classic games, specifically Sonic 3 & Knuckles. If you used the B button, she shoots an electric bullet from her shock pistol. With this electric bullet, you can't damage enemies, but you can change power-up monitors into a different one. For example, if you use it on an Eggman monitor, you can change it to a life monitor.

It's definitely the shock pistol. Also if she isn't your style, try Shadow in Sonic 1. There is a specific one I'm talking about. Razor & Zenon did a video on it a while back. He has a bunch of moves. He has a spindash, Drop Dash, Light Dash, a super form, and can perform the Chaos Blast while Super.

In the upcoming release of Sonic Origins Plus, an expanded version of the previously-released Sonic Origins compilation, Amy Rose will officially be playable in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and in Sonic 1, Sonic CD, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. And speaking of Knuckles, he will finally be playable in Sonic CD. The Sega Game Gear entries will also be included in the compilation. Sonic Origins Plus will be released in June. Those who already own a copy of Sonic Origins can buy the Expansion Pack for $10 USD.

@@alienxotic5028 No, that was true in the original version as well. However, when playing as _Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic 2,_ you retain all of the Rings that you collected. Apparently, this hack is following the latter's model.

Oh yeah, I remember in Sonic 2 when Sonic had the exact moveset Amy would later have in Sonic Advance! That was my favorite part! (Maybe try actually watching the video before passing the hack off as a reskin.)

A reskin is a character with different sprites but same exact gameplay. Tails in Sonic 2 was essentially a reskin. This Amy hack doesn't just change the sprites, but also the gameplay.
