The E3 build of Sonic Heroes was recently dumped online for all to see and hopefully play. With the help of my soft-modded Wii (which I needed to do to play NTSC games on my PAL Wii), I was able to play the beta and compared it to it's final release.
Most of it remains the same but there are major differences in design, item and obstacle placement.
I know that I didn't fully explore the levels, I played them how I normally would.

The beta title screen reminds me of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle but the final version looks more like Sonic Adventure.

I’m pretty sure this game was supposed to be SA3 I heard somewhere before but they changed it because of its gameplay and how it doesn’t play like the other adventure games

Sonic 06 was pretty munch supposed to be like a Sonic Adventure 3, but it was to glitchy... to do that.

Noticed the Bata has a Countdown instead of a Time. Guess that was there so they could get queues moving quickly in case someone was taking a long time...

Also, 30 seconds would be removed when you lose a life and the time on the countdown does not return to the value at the checkpoint unlike the time in the final game

My favorite Sonic game!! It's so cool to see how the game was built before finalizing it. I'm also not surprised Rail Canyon was made for the hard course of the beta version. That place gives me Team Dark nightmares...

Wow, I like the Beta title screen way more. A lot more personality and actually makes it look like a successor to Sonic Adventure 2.

Some small differences here and there but for the most part the beta is a good representation of what the full game would have been. Sonic Heroes is actually one of the better 3d sonic games in my opinion. Not sure why it doesn't get much love.

In fairness, Sonic Heroes wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. It was just average. I did enjoy it although the controls were way too slippery. SA1 and SA2 had more responsive Sonic/Shadow gameplay. The team mechanics were interesting but I was disappointed with the flight bar. Other than that, yeah it wasn't as bad as people say.

Noticed some rings are arranged vertically, in the sense that the rings spin from up to down instead of left to right, unlike almost any other ring.

So the beginning part of Seaside Hill's bet was put into the multiplayer ver. Excluding the beginning ring trail.

Differences:E3 has no team blast and hi score. Also the beggining has only one Dash pad. If I missed one let me know

I noticed some voice lines also so sing different in the Beta. For instance, when Tails says "take" it doesn't sound as enthusiastic as in the final. Same goes for Sonic when he says "level up!"

Although very similar. There are a few differences. There are no level ups in the first one. You get items from the check points instead of level ups. And the timers are different. One is going up and one is going down. Also in the beta one, that looks like team darks version of the stage. Also tails sounds like he's saying cursing when he does thunder shoot in the beta one while In the other one he sound like he's saying day (or something).

Sega isn't very well known for remaking Sonic games. Like, at all. And if they did, they'd probably remake Adventure, then Adventure 2, before remaking Heroes.

Since Nintendo's E3 is going to be a bit disappointing this year (No NX at the show? BOO!) Hopefully SEGA does what NintenDON'T and unveils the 25th Anniversary Sonic title.

K1llerB333 actually there are quite a few differences. Team Blast was not implemented in the beta. The ending animation with Sonic, Tails and Knuckles needed more work. Collecting power ups for each characters attribute didn't exist yet. Rail Canyon had a much longer opening with grinding then the final version. Tails makes a different sound when using Thunder Shoot in the beta. The timer is countdown based in the beta demo. And those are just a few of the things I noticed.

Honest Sonic Heroes would have been better off being released only for the Gamecube and the Xbox because Sony outright destroyed SEGA's hardware business when the PS2 outsold the Dreamcast.

Agreed, something like the "ShutUpCharmy" or whatever that makes Charmy stop talking but for all characters, to disable them talking about the obvious during stages. The voices when switching characters and attacking are fine.
