Sonic Omens: The Complete Playthrough (Episodes 1-7)

Very few 3D fangames get completed. You love to see it.

Truly an inspiring fangame. I especially loved when Chris said “This is Your Bad Omen” and proceeded to Omen Sonic with a Rocket Launcher. Truly one of the fangames of all time.

Props to the devs for actually completing it. Not something you see very often in this fandom.

My summary of the plot: Several months following the defeat of Dark Gaia, Sonic and Tails are alerted by yet another attempt by Eggman for the Chaos Emeralds. Sonic takes off to Eggman's abandoned tower base next to Chao gardens, and the duo search for any clues to Eggman's whereabouts; inside the ruined base, however, Sonic encounters and defeats the battle-damaged Egg Dragoon, reformatted into the automated Dragoon E-Zero, and takes a data drive inside of it to help pin down Eggman's location. Meanwhile, Shadow goes through a battle simulation within GUN's Arsenal, and both the council and a mysterious figure send him out to retrieve the Emeralds, with the figure giving him one to aid in his mission. Tails and Sonic blast off to the Grand Canyon in the X-Tornado jet, and Sonic gets past the defenses of the Area-99 GUN facility stationed to study several ruins. Tails, meanwhile, flies the X-Tornado through the canyons of Wild Ridge, with them both meeting up at an uncovered mural in the Temple of Sands, where Eggman has found another Emerald. The Emerald suddenly awakens a stony serpentine monster named Gnarl, and after escaping the ruins to the surface Tails defeats him in the X-Tornado, retrieving the Emerald; the figure then arrives at the mural, foretelling the end of Chaos. They then head to the White Jungle, encountering GUN forces as Sonic makes his way to the Tree Palace, climbing it to find an Emerald at the top and escaping the rushing waterfall unleashed by it. Shadow arrives at the Moldy Jungle after GUN detects a reaction caused by the two Emeralds collected by Sonic and Tails, guided by Rouge towards a shrine holding an Emerald. Shadow arrives to find it taken by Eggman, and his Emerald awakens another monster, a being made of toxic sludge named Vortex. After defeating him, Shadow pursues Eggman, who arrives at the X-Tornados crash site after the two Emerald's reactions caused it to stall. Shadow and Sonic briefly argue and duke it out, and Tails distracts Shadow to give Sonic a head start towards Eggman. Shadow chases after him through a disused rail yard, eventually reaching a train on the United Railroad that Eggman has commandeered. Sonic manages to reach Eggman and fight him in the city, facing down his newest aerial mech, the Metal Ember. Following his defeat, GUN arrives to detain Eggman, and after deeming Sonic unfit to guard the Emeralds, GUN confiscates them. GUN is overwhelmed by the appearance of the mysterious figure, who is revealed to be a Metarex named The Exiled. Shadow knocks Sonic out before presenting a Chaos Emerald to The Exiled before disappearing; he later wakes up in the repaired Metal Ember, having been rescued by Tails and Eggman. Eggman reveals that Sonic's old friend, Chris Thorndyke, worked his way up the ranks in GUN to reform their warmongering ways and to create another gateway that would allow him to travel through realities, where he met The Exiled. After heading through so soon after his initial travels, Chris' body began to age rapidly, leaving him only 15 years to live. After his death, GUN returned to their militant ways and The Exiled ended up leaving after his colleague's demise, betraying GUN and recruiting Shadow. Eggman theorizes that in order to gain the power needed to fully breach the barrier between realities, The Exiled plans to destroy the Emeralds to fully extract their power, resulting in reality being destroyed upon the gateways activation. Eggman helps repair the X-Tornado before both he and the duo approach The Exiled's Citadel of the Lotus. Meanwhile, Shadow is caught in a vision of Maria, who seems to attack him with various powers; the vision abates when Shadow destroys several GUN drones. It's revealed that Shadow has been suffering visions of Maria for over two years, agreeing to help The Exiled in exchange for ending them - The Exiled reveals that he manipulated Shadow this way by using GUN's hologram drones. While Shadow clashes with The Exiled, Tails flies towards the Citadel through the Weeping Rifts, evading the monstrous hawk Ember, who takes down Eggman. Sonic manages to enter and make his way up to the top of the massive tower, arriving at the gateway just as The Exiled inputs the Emeralds, where they are shattered and robbed of all their power. After catching Sonic, The Exiled recounts his friendship with Chris, revealing that he was banished from his world by the Metarex leader Dark Oak for opposing his reign of terror; he plans to to simply return home with the gateway. The last of the Emerald's energies are absorbed into the bracelet artifact given to Sonic by Chip after Shadow destroys the gate, allowing Sonic to go Super Sonic and defeat the last of the Metarex, who laments his desire and loss before dying. Sonic is confronted by the three monsters, Gnarl and Vortex having managed to revive themselves. The monsters are foretold as omens of the end of the age of Chaos, and Sonic sees this through by destroying his bracelet, erasing the Chaos Emeralds and their powers forever. Sonic, Eggman and Tails reflect on their adventure as the disaster ends. Later on, the Master Emerald shatters without the Chaos Emeralds to maintain (with Knuckles heading off to find his own adventures), Shadow reunites with Rouge, and Sonic visits Chris' grave.

The last part of the final boss looks, feels, and sounds amazing. Its nice to feel like you can control the action opposed to being on a rail.

I really love how this game’s story connects the Sonic X story while also establishing what happened to Chip’s light Gaia ring and why we don’t see or here about the emeralds at all during Colours and Forces. Though the voice acting was a bit off putting, the story, visuals, and gameplay were all amazing!

I know that Vector's official voice actors all sound quite noticeably different from each other, but... how did they think that that voice is a good fit for him?!?!

I can't believed that this game is fully completed! And the music for it, It's so epic!

Sonic Omens might be rough around the edges, but for a fan game, with what I assume is a relatively small team behind it. It is incredibly polished and well thought out. The levels look gorgeous, the music rocks, and the story is epic with a lot of fan service that doesn’t feel forced. I would love to see what else this team ends up making, but for now they’ve deserved a long rest! Edit:Just read about the controversy… yeah no, I take back a lot of what I said.

Chris may be at peace, but his friendship for Sonic will live FOREVER!

Never had I seen such a well developed and hardly worked on full Sonic 3D fangame in my life. It is truly astonishing, to say the least.

oohhhh i watch the sonic xd show as a young kid, seeing chris hang out with sonic, amy, tails, creme and everyone else, fast forward to all these years later and here he is, at his very end. seeing his gravestone was really.. emotional

In case anyone forgot, the game takes place between Unleashed and Colors, and explains why the Chaos Emeralds, which have been a mainstay in the franchise, haven’t been used in (some of) SEGA’s most recent entries in the series.

Games like these is stuff you would want to do if you decided to make your own fangame as a kid, but don't realize how much goes into it. Nice to see a well finished fan game, with two hours worth of content probably longer if your trash at platformers. 😄

The music on the last omen got me so hype that I had to take a break just to cope truly an 11/10

Best part of the game was when sonic said "it's oming time!" And then he omen'd all over the enemies.

A decent Sonic fan game with a nice little send-off to Sonic X, especially with giving some form of closure to Chris, it has many pros and cons but I still like it. Though it probably would be better for everyone involved if they changed or removed the tree climb as well as give an immense overhaul for certain other levels. Which may include removing the panels with the Eggman logo from Area 99 since that is a GUN facility and Eggman is their enemy. Doesn't make sense why it has to be there, other than to be an obstruction for the player.

Unbelievably awesome!!! The graphics make it look like a cinema movie!.. And the story?! Praised!!.. Again, unbelievable! And made by the Russian!.. Such a contribution!..

The thing I love about this game is that tails was given a whole new like tails. The creators made him way more braver and has purpose in the story. Unlike ACTUAL sonic games where he is just “SONIC! HELP MEEE”

Despite all the controversy surrounding the team behind this game, we finally get to see the full story.

Say what you want about Sonic X, but hearing the theme at 1:10 made me smile. Nostalgia hit hard!

REALLY HOPING TO SEE SONIC OMENS 2 REALLY BROUGHT THE VIBES AND DEFINITELY FEELS LIKE ITS AFTER UNLEASHED CONSIDERING CHIPS BRACELET (Great touch by the way on the braclet) Love how the playthrough feels like it’s almost a open world free roam but also gives you a sense of direction where to go. Voice acting is also amazing props to sonic VA for trying to sound so much like how sonic would from unleashed! MIND HAS DEFINITELY BEEN BLOWN 👍

Fun fact: In one part of the gameplay, when Shadow chases the train that Eggman is on, "jackal squad" can be seen written on a container.

Fanbase: We want big, but not too long long levels that feature solid platforming, multiple paths and oppurtunities to find shortcuts with skillful gameplay. Omens: Features levels that are literally just that Fanbase: Level design in Omens sucks Sonic Fanbase TRULY doesn't know what they want.

Exiled wanted to go back into the past to visit Chris and spend their last days together once more but was too embarrassed to say so he came up with the "going home" shit because he recently watched Spider Man: No Way Home before going to fight Sonic.

I would absolutely love to play this! It looks so much fun to play and I love how you can play as Tails and Shadow! If I found out how to get Sonic omens I will get it instantly!! Amazing job!!!

Everything that happened surrounding the development and the devs themselves was truly shame, because it feels like it all started as a genuine and loving fanwork like many others. Even giving them credit for delivering a full game and putting it's flaws aside, i really can't respect this game and the developers for literally profiting off early builds, actively trying to silence negative feedback and literally harassing members of their own team.

The game is excellent. No questions there. The animations are also incredible. I wish Sonic would show this kind of energy in the main games. The accents are a bit weird, but you know? They're doing their best work. The acting itself is phenomenal

I feel like this is a wonderful and great wrap up for the entire Sonic story itself like everything to do with Sonic is closed up with this. Because Sonic learned how to... just like Shadow let go of his past, this includes Chip and Chris speaking of Shadow, he has visibly warmed up more to others, Tails has finally let go of Cosmo and Chris because he was friends with him as well, knuckles no longer has to guard the master emerald, Amy we have no clue because all we ever get from her is a simple call that's it so maybe she moved on from her love with Sonic who knows. Rouge we also don't know because she didn't get much screen time nor is there much information about her either, that we can tell what she's improved on. Eggman possibly is no longer evil and he's probably just living a normal life or maybe he's not maybe he is still a threat but stays within a range of being a threat. Having that said yeah I feel like this is the perfect wrap up for everything Sonic.

Whoever helped design the AMAZING SOUNDTRACKS PLEASE LET ME BUY YOU DINNER OR SOMETHING! Every single track was AMAZING

Visuals and level designs are on point, excellent even! Voice acting could use a bit of work, but that's a minor quibble for such a major fan undertaking. I hope the dev team get job offers from Sega for this project!

I can't believe I cried to the end of this. I loved how the entire Sonic worlds were fused as one story, but seeing Chris dead made me cry for real.

Sonic misses his new companions during his and his friends' old times. Chip and Chris in 1:08 and 1:11. 😔. It's sad to lose new friends during his quest, but they stay right beside him in the end.

I have imaginated another final in the post credit scene: Sonic: goodbye... my old friend...

Am I the only one who's noticed a massive difficulty spike in the update? It's taken me like 2 hours to beat the first two new episodes. I especially think the Eggman boss in The Exiled is insanely difficult and not in a fair way either. A lot of the time I'm getting hit by attacks that I dodged out of the way of. Not to mention you're constantly getting bombarded with attacks left right and center, till the point it's overwhelming.

Sonic sacrifice the last thing of chips to save the world and he was sad about it to I have I you know sonic unleashed is the game that sonic got the bracelet and sequel sonic unleashed sonic colors had no bracelet on sonic so what I think is this game took place after sonic unleashed so this fangame is the real sonic unleashed sequel

This was definitely a true example of when fans work hard on a passion project about their favorite fandom, and I especially love how these guys actually respect Chris Throndyke and not show toxic negativity towards him, while I get that Chris had some bad moments, that doesn't mean we can't forget his good ones too, and not be so toxic about just his bad moments.

The voice acting and dialog flow is literally my only criticism for this game. The story is incredible! Shadow's animations are so fucking FLUID!!! And the tie-ins from other media is so perfect! The strong influence of Sonic X is so much more satisfying than I thought it would be!! Overall a great project! Serious shame about the devs being so shitty about everything...

I honestly can't believe this is a fan game. I absolutely love its storytelling and how much we see Sonic's world, his home etc. Now that I think of it, we don't really see too much of it in the games. He's either in a different world or we just see other parts of the planet. I wish we had a game where you can see all of the chatacters' houses and their everyday life at some point. Sonic has such a nice worldbuilding and we don't really see it, if that makes sense.

There's so much to like here. If they could fox some of the bugs and technical issues, address the difficulty spike, get retakes for some of the VAs, and in some cases replace them outright, they'd have a masterpiece on their hands.

Never knew this game has a send off to Sonic X my mind is blown. Never played it because well my laptop is bad but seeing this video I’m very impressed a full sonic game with a story is able to be complete, voicing is a bit off but still good 9/10
