BREAKING UPDATE: So it's been confirmed in the Nintendo Direct that there are gonna be 12 ZONES in Superstars, NOT 8! Glad I was wrong lol There's been a huge INFLUX of Sonic Superstars content right now! So what are all your thoughts about the game now??

Kinda sad since it seems Bean and Bark aren’t gonna be in the game. Would’ve wanted to see the different members of Team Hooligan having their own individual boss fights with their own gimmicks. That new villain looks interesting though.

Look at where Tails is positioned on the title screen of the Demo. Look at that empty space on the other side of him. They're gonna add more characters.

I kind of like Classic era and I hope it has a series of games alongside the main stuff.

*Good Lord, I love this building up on the Sonic "Chaos Emerald" lore.* I think Frontiers has opened up the door for expanding on alot on this material. Also Sonic Mania started something with these crisp animated openings. Love these intros 🙌

9:49 The way this would work is pretty simple, as SEGA designed Hedgehog Engine 2 to be easy to implement into other engines. Basically, instead of having the Retro Engine handle both game logic and graphics, you'd instead have the Retro Engine only handling game logic while Hedgehog Engine 2 handles the graphics

Im looking forward to this, it gives me impression they are doing a Sonic 4 take 2 approach and looking at other 2d games like Rush for inspiration

I've always seen this year as 2022 part 2 for Sonic from Prime Season 2 to the Knuckles show to Origins Plus and Frontiers DLC. But now we can add Superstars to the list and it looks like lots of fun. It looks like it has a very Kirby like vibe to it. I love that we're getting original levels with the exception of the Sonic 1 special stage. I was a little worried about the physics and how the characters will play, but if Christian Whitehead approves of this, then that's good enough with me. I also like the name of the new location-the North Star islands-keeping up with the naming conventions of the first two games with South Island and Westside Island. Its also great to see Fang back, though I wish we had Bean and Bark as well. Maybe they'll be cameos. I have a feeling the new character isn't a true villain, but someone who got roboticized by Eggman and is forced to follow both him and Fang. In addition, its great to see the chaos emeralds give new abilities outside of super forms. BTW, Amy can spin dash?!

Hey gamerguyd. I found some pretty interesting info on superstars recently. I think GAME (uk retailer) may have leaked the release date? I looked on their pre order page and it says the release date is October 17th, 2023 for the Switch version. Seems a bit too specifc to be a placeholder imo. Thought you might find it interesting edit: this isnt related to what i commented earlier but even more news has come out. 1. Sonic Team isnt fully developing this. Arzest is co-developing. Arzest is a game company owned by Naoto Oshima (probably explains his contributions). Arzest previously worked on Balan Wonderworld with Square Enix 2. A 10 minute HD gameplay preview of Speed Jungle acts 1 and 2 have been revealed by IGN japan. Looks pretty nice, acts are nice and detailed. It looks on par with 3&K and Mania, with lots of branching paths and tight, dense level design. Automation still exists, but isnt overbearing like forces. Think 3&K levels of automation. Physics and momentum seem to be on point with the classic games, and there's lots of fun looking original stage gimmicks. The stages themselves seem to be pretty long too. The person playing was good at Sonic and the levels still felt longer than most classic sonic levels. Looking really good so far. The new antagonist is also shown at the end, along with Fang's 3D design 3. Ign interview just came out. Talks about how the developers are putting special care into creating new and original zones. No rehashes this time.

No you're misunderstanding. Classic Amy is going to be wearing Modern Amy's outfit, as in wearing her modern counterpart's clothes, not skin. Also it is confirmed in the TailsTube that Classic and Modern are the same

I've got two bars, I will enjoy the game as long as it's better than Sonic 4 with its level design and physics, which it looks like it will be. If it's better than Mania, then heck yes that's even better.

I agree with u for most of the vídeo, but we have to remember something when we decide how to judge a game, which to look at the price, this game is in the list of 60$ so it should be judged harshly, we need to compare it to Mania when it comes out, expecting it to be better than it, (Mania was 20$ when it came out 🙂) the reason Origins was so stepped on is because it is a expensive game with older things to offer, this game is new, but Mania was also new and it wasn't that expensive, this thing has the price of Frontiers when it came out, Classic Sonic games should be judged in the same level of Modern games then? As much as I understand the hate Sonic Forces got when it came out it should have been judged less hashly because it wasn't that expensive either (40$). So that's how we should judge games, and people need to understand that. That visual novel game Sega released was praised for what reason? Cuz it's a quality game, and cuz it's 🆓, free game is a good game, always.

My prediction is a decent 8/10 A game that's enjoyable for what it is but doesn't have a LOT of content

The Sonic 1 maze could also just be a bonus stage, like how Blue Spheres was brought back as a bonus stage in Sonic Mania

will say prem was a bit negative for this games reveal, he already assumed it was origins when emerald hill was on the screen, plus i dunno why he thought it would 100% be an advance/rush style game? and then dunks on classic sonic so hard that he prob thinks its gonna be sonic 4 levels of bad maybe lower, kinda felt like he saw a different trailler, and expected classic to fail and if it were modern it wouldn't? This guy do be confusing sometimes, tho you be right zippo isn't fully wrong, when he said its prob a 2D modern game in style of the classics or something, or how ever he said it, he prob was told it was a classic sonic game but modern style, the modern style being 3D graphics than the 2D classic pixel art style, also didn't a leak also already say the emeralds would give us power ups in this game? thats another video idea to revisit that leak and compare to what we did get.

8 zones is way too little value for a 59.99 game. Mania had 12 zones and was like 20 or 30 dollars. Doing the math, this means Superstars should either *be much cheaper* OR *have at least 20 zones.*

Maybe with some remix of Metallic Madness (Bad future jp version) instead of Stardust Speedway or some new song with Stardust Speedway in it. am I the only thinking that this kinda a Sonic origins 2, but isn't a sequel at the same time. I don't know, it just feels like this a sequel to Sonic Origins. Is that weird

While I'm excited for this game, I think it'll be better than Sonic Mania/Sonic Mania Plus and especially Sonic 4, while I did say that Classic Sonic games should remain sprite based Sonic Superstars changed My mind saying that this is how 2D Sonic should be (especially if it's riding the coat tails of Sonic Frontiers) and that after the Movies success seems Sega-Atlus seems to finally got a grip on how Sonic should be in the future, Modern Sonic being 3D and have a Dragon Ball Z like story and Classic Sonic being 2D having a OG Dragon Ball like story. I also think we'll see Mighty and Ray as DLC again (or unlockable) to expand on this game, I like the direction where this game is taking kinda like how New Super Mario Bros. and Mega Man 11 are 2.5D games, this might be the last Sonic game I'm going to get on Switch (physically) I know the Switch has few years left RN but any Sonic game after that I'll get on PC until Nintendo's next console.

I won't lie I got dissapointed when the first cutscene and gameplay was leaked though I won't be seeing anything until release.

They should of had Toei animate this.

Genuinely stoked for this game. It’s everything I want a brand new Sonic experience to be. It’s fine to be a homage to the classics without directly repeating the tiredness of it. It doesn’t bother that it’s a game focused on the classic lore. I reserve final judgment until the game comes out. But right off the back, this game one ups Mania and Sonic 4 especially in terms of upgrade ambition factors alone. You got more playable characters right up front. Brand new zones with mew gimmicks, and abilities. And for the first time, more then one person can get all the fun instead of being left off screen. And 4 players at that. More character representation is what I wanted. If we can’t have new characters, bring back older underused characters to do them justice just as you do the standard casts. Sega been stepping up bringing back that all and wonder of excitement with Sonic games again. Mighty and Ray in Mania+ was the groundwork.

1. I remember hearing that it was confirmed that the Modern and Classic timelines were merged back together after forces. 2. Sonic the fighters was always canon, and it’s safe to say sonic triple trouble is. So Nak was already canon (would him being an illusion in sonic mania not count?). Great video tho

Hope to god this is true (No rehashed and only new lvls). As for my hype lvls of this game, honestly I'm ok with it. I don't mind the game costing $60 despite seemingly like it will probably have 8 zones, just as long as all of them are original, fun to replay in order to get the perfect run, and offers enough fun content for more replayability. What I don't really like is the 3d models of the classic cast still, wish Mighty n Ray join in the fun (Along with Bark n Bean), kinda wish for new Modern Sonic 2d sprite or just a new successor to Advanced/Rush since we hadn't seen those games for a long time (Plus playable Blaze along with the other modern cast that hadn't been playable since 06), I hope that Sonic Team not only gets the physics right (Plzzz no Sonic 4 physics), and l really hope that they don't use too much automation for the lvls. It's ok to use it time to time for cool ecstatic for each lvl, but I hope Sega/Sonic Team let the player use their own skill to past through the lvl. So far from what I seen from that IGN gameplay of that Forest lvl and other ppl that played the demo, the lvls looks like it has a nice balance of both which I'm ok with and hope it either gets less automated for the other lvls or just stay like that throughout the game. Lastly, I also hope this game is decently challenging. The last lvl probably will offer a solid challenge since Sonic 1-Mania always have the last lvl be difficult, but even if Sonic Tea can't do it cuz they want to appeal to the causals like Nintendo with New Super Mario Series, then I hope they at least add an encore mode for hardcore fans who wants to replay the lvl for fun/perfect run.

I think timeline-wise the game happens after sonic adventure 2, since sonic rail grinds the vines in the jungle stage. That if we treat the classic design as a style choice.
