2:00 I just love it when the sound effects overtake the music, and you get to hear notes from the song that are otherwise blend in. It's almost like little remixes happening here and there
My absolute favorite part!! Love that sound remixing. I picked that up as a kid. Usually when there are sound effects in the game play already taking high pitch sounds so you only hear the bass part of the music. So well done in this game! Some Nintendo games do it too. Very noticeable on Super Mario Bros. 2 and Mario Kart 64. But the sound tracks aren’t nearly as cool as this one.
Chemical Plant is just a special kind of song. It's so perfectly mixed with the Genesis soundfont and effects that every time you get to that stage, you're in for a treat! Such a great song.
I 100% agree, this was the very first video game that I ever played as a child. I grew up a Sonic fan in the '90s and I will die one. I was born December 5th 1990.
Yeah Sonic 2 is where they clearly took what they did wrong in Sonic 1 and FIXED it. it's SO rewarding to get to difficult areas and stay fast in Sonic 2 because of how the stage design encourages experimentation with momentum. Even the more slower paced stages like Mystic Cave feel fun to play because of the challenge being integrated into the level design, not coming in spite of it like Marble Zone in Sonic 1 (standing on slow moving lava blocks isn't challenging...) Shame the only game since then to really reward momentum mastery innately would be Sonic Advance 2 and some parts of Mania, though I found that in Mania, there are many points you can simply get to if you're willing to slow climb and speed tricks are more for getting through quickly like in Sonic 3 due to the more maze like level design. 3D games have the skill based level design, but the momentum is usually lousy so getting up to higher grounds or short cuts involves memorization rather than skill usually.
Christmas 1992....I was so addicted to this game. Because of that, the sound effects, graphics and especially the music give me such a special feeling from that time. I cant describe it...amazing how the past is connected to such things
@frotttip thats EXACTLY how I feel about GTA3. I always say that alllllllllll the nuances and bells and dings of that game was getting burned in my head and I had no clue
Sonic 2 originally had a time travel plot (with present-day Zones having a past and a future equivalent Zone) and Chemical Plant Zone existed in a Bad Future. Allegedly it was supposed to be a Bad Future Emerald Hill Zone, but I can’t confirm this.
Its amazing. the design is very complex, with many different paths intersecting, tubes, loops...I made a video exploring and explaining all paths in the act 1: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JjwvPNBC0vg.html
Beating this stage was such a relief. Sonic was such a challenging game. It took hours and hours of training to beat this whole game. I remember renting the game every friday night at blockbuster. Drinking Mountain Dew and eating Twizzliers and Butterfinger BBs.
@@CliffhangerProduction That and video games being very new. There wasn't really internet back then for people to watch some "champion" beat the game in under a day then pretend THEY did it too.
Every time on those platforms i died in the water because my timibng sucked, and everytime i was in he water on those 4 block things i was always crushed
There's something addictive about Sonic gameplay, and I'm pretty sure it's how much rollercoaster there is in each level (and also going so fast that all you hear is the ring sound effect over and over again).
Can't believe I forgot playing this. I guess it's because that pink water gave me ptsd. That precise platforming was just beyond my capability as a kid.
I remember playing this when I was younger and there was a cute girl at the time at my sister's birthday party and I would open the door and turn up the volume when I got to Chemical Plant so everyone would come in and watch me play and I would feel all cool LMAOO!!! aw mann those were the days.
This level is an old arch nemesis of mine. I've despise this level with every fiber of my being. It all started 27 years ago & is still going. I would never get past act 2 that is until I discovered a cheat code for debug mode & I would use debug mode to pass the water part
that ring game at the end was the best part. I think Its in multi player.. player I dont remember. I played the genius when i was like 6/7or soemthing . but i have memories of the gamecube since 2005 or so lol
Oh this takes me back .lm feeling anxious just watching it The music was great but started to really annoy me cause I was desperate to get past this level it was so hard.
Yep! ;) Dr. Robotnik totally perfected a synthetic version of Layla from the Winx Club’s fairy liquid! ;) XD Well, it’s either that or the pink none corrosive liquid in this iconic Sonic level is just mouthwash! 😂😂😂 Well why else is it NOT corrosive to Sonic and co?! 😂😂😂 What do you think!? XXD :)
You can do spin dash if putting your finger down on the moving button and jumping button. Sonic cannot fly if tapping jump button 2 times. Only Tails can fly if tapping jump button 2 times. If you are not using computer or phone, do other option!
