8:50 the worst part about this section is that it's so easy to eat up your lives and if you get a game over you don't restart the level. You have to load your last manual save. You'd have the start the game from the beginning if you didn't know that.

Just to give an idea of how much loading is in this game for those unaware: Charriii5 in his "Everything Wrong With" had to edit out 465 REQUIRED load screens (no failed missions, no unnecessary backtracking, basically if you play the game and go where you need to pretty much perfectly), almost 2 hours of load time

This was actually my first ps3 game. Just seeing this again brings back painful memories of thinking how bad I was . Turns out the game was a turd all along.

It's still a damn shame what this game became. Rushed to meet a deadline, half the team was split off to do Secret Rings, content was lost between the demo and the full release. It was just one thing after the other. The fan project Sonic P-06 kinda shows what this could have been a fair bit. If it'd had an extra year or so, maybe y'know not had SEGA split the team up and in general just wasn't so troubled to put together. Man it could have been so much more even with the weird story beats... The ultimate problem though is that despite the game being out longer than the anniversary it represented. So many still use this as the catalyst of what to expect from every game that came after and eventually lead to the team simplifying everything down to a near boring extent. Ah well... At least the films are great!

The purple gem hack is great; the camera registers there’s a floor beneath you when you’re small so you jump infinitely because the camera assumes you’re jumping off of a floor every time

I think the worst thing about this for me is that as a kid, I fucking loved this game. I never made it past the second level. I honestly don't know why 7 year old me loved this game. My only guess is that my brother and I had gotten an xbox 360 shortly before this. Brand new sonic on a brand new console. Early on for the 360 there wasn't a lot of games for kids.

This game was made in the era where saga just pumped out garbage because they knew fans would buy it. That era is still ongoing.

I just got out of seeing Sonic 2, so time to remember the low points of this franchise after such a high point!

I 100%ed this game back on the 360. I was young and had a lot of time.

Watching ray suffer through this makes me want to see his reaction to the decent 3d sonics I would love to see him play the wii version of unleashed (which imo is better then the 360 version except for the final super sonic section) and sonic colors

I think there is an important milestone to hit as a Sonic fan where you transcend anger and embrace acceptance. You stop defending them, you stop getting annoyed at people who aren't fans talking shit, because you know they're right. Is it really a higher state? Or are we trapped and in denial? I love Sonic and all it's garbage *so* much, and there are some decent and fun titles, but I understand that people aren't interested. 06 is a goddamn nightmare, Colors and Generations are alright, not great, but alright is big for Sonic. I do not expect people who aren't already invested to have any desire to play them.
