No, fans are too blind to see that the Boost formula sucks and it drains Sonic games of platforming. Everyone just wants Sonic to go fast, Sonic was never a racing game but that's basically what it is now. Although Unleashed was for sure the best game out of the 4.
@@keizaronstesticularcancer4608 shut the fuck up. This isnt the 1990s with genesis anymore. Do you bitch about mario being 3d? Do you bitch about street fighter being 3d? Do you bitch about GTA being 3d? Whether u play those or not who cares, you get my point.
This level right here is the epitome of how modern sonic should be played. Beautiful detail/graphics, plenty of things to do in the level, great length. This is when modern Sonic is at his best.
In generations or colors he's at his Best because there's always more ways to get trough the level, if we compare generations to unleashed, let's be real unleashed is very linear but still it's very good if not one of the Best sonic games
@@themagicalgamer6522 Generation more alive and detailed graphics? I'm sorry but Generations was a downgrade from Unleashed if we're talking about visuals. Even the model of sonic is one of a lower poly count.
God, I freaking love Jason Griffith as Sonic, the effort he puts through is amazing. It really sounds like Sonic is actually a teenager having fun running around saving the world instead of sounding like a generic stoic hero with a higher pitched voice. You can really tell he had fun with the roll too. As such in the “WOO” he gives
Silence in Spagonia: Construction workers: How about we build some rails in the air and springs here just in case a fast hedgehog with human-like limbs come running by
This is the best level in the Sonic series. It’s fast as heck and there’s alternate routes everywhere. The music is amazing to. This level *defines* Sonic.
@@keon200 bruh chill no need to get so damn toxic, I was pointing out that you somehow pick jungle joyride over rooftop run despite the terrible framerate on that level (I'm taking only act 1 into consideration because it's the main level) if you even care about that. However you were to play this on a series X or emulate it which ever works for you then i am saying that I respect your opinion. As for me, both are equally as great as the other if you manage to get past the framerate if you play the game on the original hardware it came out on or the Xbox one As a sidenote, get better insults as they make you look like a joke and don't get so damn defensive really quick as other people have their own opinions
Modern Sonic style stages should be like this. Instead of stop and go bullshit like waiting for a platform to loop back, the stages should be focused on keeping the momentum going forwards. Also classic style stages should not be thrown in the middle of modern stages, they need to be separate damn stages!
And this is why Sonic sucks now. Sonic used to be a platforming game played at a fast pace. Now it's boost to win, I've played Unleashed, Gens, and Forces and all of them follow the same formula. You boost through the 3d sections and do some bare bones 2d platforming. But nobody cares because the fans just want speed. This would have been an OK game on its own but now it's shitty formula has become the standard for 3d Sonic
I've never played Unleashed but rooftop run looks so fun and beautiful and with a length of 4 minutes. This is my favorite sonic level. I already consider Unleashed my favorite game in the series
This is easily my favorite level in the entirety of all sonic games. It’s fast, it’s fun, it’s long, it lets you feel what sonic is all about, something not many stages let you truly feel. This stage is packed with that feeling, a feeling of true speed and endurance
this level is four minutes of sheer unadulterated exhilleration. first time i played it i had to stop the story and go back to replay it, because i couldn't believe what i had just played
I think this level is THE Sonic level that defines his games. High replayability with varying routes, graphically strong, and the music just motivates you to perfect the level. Impossible not to get caught up in it all. It's the eponymous Sonic level and it's a shame that the consensus seems to be that 3D Sonic can't work, because the daytime stages in Unleashed got it right.
+Kevin Calderón Most people who dislike this game complain about the werehog stages. The daytime stages aren't something most of them dislike (except for those who wanted the levels to be more like the adventure games or wanted Sonic to be naturally able to run as fast as the boost or something). Also, without the boost, the daytime stages are pretty much the same as the adventure games, only that their somewhat more focused on straight corridors.
Unleashed is truly Sonic at his best. The music, voice acting, story, levels, spectacles in said levels, get absolute 10 out of 10's from me. God bless.
People hate it because for every 10 minutes u spend playing: 3 minutes is spent playing a masterpiece, what Sonic in 3D should be like. The remaining 7 minutes are spent playing a sub-par God of War clone. And and an extra 2 minutes for going around the hub worlds, talking to people, and solving puzzles.
This is the best video game stage ever. It combines fun, precision, reaction, nice environments, tight controls, challenge, length, and some kickass music. Nothing will ever top this stage for me, it is peak game design
This is definitely one the best 3d Soinc games ever Has a special place in my heart And I'll give credit to Jason Griffith For doing a good job with his performance
Here's a fun fact Sonic unleashed was one of the first games to used global illumination the engine director was so inspired by pixar movies that he wanted to mimic the style (hence the human designs) they created an engine so advanced that they hard to drastically downgrade it to work on 360 and PS3 and they created server PC's just to render the scenes in the games!
For what the story is, Unleashed was a perfect game with little to no issues (besides technical). However reviewers shitted on it since it was being "too different" and "not resembling what the series stands for". Sadly this made SEGA believe their product was shit when clearly Unleashed was an absolute masterpiece, the Werehog stages were fun, yeah it can be tedious (which is one of the few issues), but it was still fun.
justandresx werehog stages are a bitch and a half to get through, it's a half baked beatem up, that sure is fun for like 5 minutes. then you feel the minimum effort they put into it. it's not well thoughtout and too long for it to be fun.
killerinstinct minimum effort? Dude, they literally destroyed the PS3 and the Xbox 360 with the huge amount of effort they put into this game. Also the Werehog stages were not terrible. In fact, I found them just as fun as the DayTime stages. and they were not long at all. You can finish the NightTime stages in 6 minutes or less. Either you focus too much on combat and distract yourself, or you probably just suck just like how IGN played Unleashed.
Freddy F*ckboy SA2 Was a good game, but I think there are more crappy levels than good ones. The Unleashed daytime stages make the game worth playing, even with the werehog stages.
I agree with that to an extent, but what I'm saying is that the sonic/shadow stages in SA2 are like the only good stages in that game for me (Unless you like hunting around for shattered chaos emerald parts). The bad stages in SA2 outweigh the great stages, which is why I lean towards Unleashed, although Unleashed has it's problems too.
MANNNN THAT WAS SUPER ULTRA LIGHTNING FAST!! wow these day stages are so lit. but they also take skill as well as speed, and props to whos playin, they know how to reallly play sonic
Boost to win can be very satisfying if it’s done well. This level is a great example, as it feels like you’re plowing through everything without a damn care.
***** Improved? Yeah, no it wasn't. The environments look extremely downscaled and watered down. Plus the level is only 2-3 minutes long. In the original, the level was 5-6 minutes long and the environments were more bright and vibrant.
If i may throw my hat into the ring, I believe generations did that for the purpose of making the game easier to breeze through, most likely for younger audiences or something.
Even after all these years this is still one of my all time favorite Sonic levels. The visuals, the music, and Sonic zooming past at lightning speed always puts a smile on my face.
THIS is how a Sonic game should be. Not like the crap we have been getting after Unleashed. What happened, Sonic Team? Were yall smoking bath salts when you made Sonic Boom? ughhhhh.....
Flávio Miranda Silva Then both parties need to share equal responsibility for that dreck of a title, along with Sonic' 06, Sonic Spinball, Tails Adventure, Sonic and the Secret Rings (I want to chokeslam that crying whiny ass genie!) & other horrible Sonic titles. Sonic Team could have said no, but they complied. Which makes them equally as responsible as Sega.
Colors got waaaaay better reviews at the time, so it's obvious SEGA would play it safe to make sure they don't clown on Sonic(not like it helps if you RUIN THE SWITCH PORT)
well I think now that Rooftop Run is the most popular Sonic stage out of all franchise stages even beats city escape and Green Hill, I can see loads of people can't stop playing this stage.
Even generations levels dont really have length how did we go from 7 minutes (The average time it takes to get to the end of rooftop run.) To stages that are usually only 2 - 3 minutes. What happened?
Rooftop Run in both Sonic Unleashed & Generations is insanely fast! And the music of the daytime version in Unleashed and the Modern version in Generations is an absolute banger! I just love how fast Sonic is in the level and you can tell he’s having a fantastic time zooming around the city.
I remember me buying this game for my Wii because I saw how good it looked on my friend's Xbox 360, and when I got it, i called my friend over, and then me and my friend both realized how different the two versions where (in terms of graphics), and then he laughed at me for saying that it was "ok"
Sonic constantly yelling "GO!", grunting, yelling "Wooo!" and cheering makes this my favourite boost game by far, it just makes the game more enjoyable Also the level design in Colors and Forces is fucking terrible
STILL peak Sonic right here, 15 years later. They were fuckin DETERMINED to make it up to fans for Sonic 06' and you could tell. This was such a blast and I don't think Sonic Unleashed will EVER be dated. It's arguably the best modern Sonic game of all time, it's contenders being Sonic Generations, Frontiers and Colors.
Hot Take: 2D Sections arent bad. Every boost game after this one just doesnt do them right. Unleashed treats them like reaction based platformers. They play closer to the rush games. Colors is too gimmicky and slow. Gens is ok, but can also be gimmicky and slow at times. Forces is barely even level design Frontiers is on the right track, but the level design/controls just arent all the way there yet. also a number of 2d levels are just rehashed
There's nothing more satisfying in this game than when you're speeding through this level and end up getting an S rank. I did this level so often just so I knew I could do it. It's been a while, but give me a few tries and my hands will remember, and soon enough I'll look close to how this video looks. Such an awesome game, especially in the Day stages. ^_^
@@Etherion956 i mean there’s sonic fans who are non toxic or cringe but the ones that are, there’s nothing you can do tbh we don’t know peoples psychological situation and honestly idc I just want my games
What I love about Unleashes is that 4+ minutes is a speedrun most sonic games take 1 minute a speedrun, but I’ll give it to Generations, their track for this stage is better
All I gotta say is WOW. That Unleashed video really amaze3d me and I forgot how refreshing Sonic Generations actually can be. Dude that is such a fucking MONUMENTAL achievement and a mega form of excellent artwork, but in motion. I'm serious, that level is so beautiful. One of the bets digital things I've ever seen. I am very very lucky to live in a world where I am able to experience things like that for free.
This game still looks insanely beautiful, even for nowadays' standards and ten years after its release. Sonic Forces' graphics were just utter shit compared to this, considering it was released on PS4 / ONE. Unleashed on 360 / PS3 was sure ahead of its time.
This right here is peak boost formula, after seeing so many quotes and references to Unleashed in Sonic Frontiers I'm even more frustrated that Sega hasn't wanted to remaster this fantastic game yet.
