Sonos makes really good surround sound speakers for home theaters, but they’re expensive. A cheaper model with great sound would be a sure thing. The Sonos Beam is that speaker, but were too many corners cut to make a more affordable product?

The beauty of Sonos is among other things, they have man services ready to go. It's not just for TV. And for the serious listener you can connect many speakers together and easily zone them.

I’m glad it’s got some decent bass, a) because the Sonos subwoofer ain’t cheap and b) apartments an subwoofers are a bad combo. Neighbors get pissed.

If you get an actual good subwoofer, you can have plenty of bass and not annoy the neighbors, bad subs amplifiy the most "impactful" frequencies to fool you into thinking it's putting out real bass, your really hearing 100Hz or even 60-80Hz which are the frequencies walls rattle at being exaggerated.

Most of us adults are more interested in the sound quality and if is a better choice than other soundbars in the market. the sound is 80% of my interest the other stuff I wouldn't put too much attention. he focused more on the whistle and bells on this review. much better than other reviews I have seen tho.

I have a beam that I bought 6 months ago and have it hooked up to my Qled70 and it sounds great. That said, I do not have it connected with my Sonos ones when I play music because it just can’t handle the sound when I crank it up. It’s a very good sound bar for TV but not great as a music speaker.

@@Te1h4n Nope, you would only get a 3.1 that way. You can of course add 2 play1s at the back to create a 5.1 experience.

HI have a question need some help please. I am the LG c8 and have a fire stick for my source of watching TV etc. If I buy the beam how do I hook it up to get the sound to come out of what I am watching from the fire stick witch is in hdmi 1 on my TV.

You can plug it into your TV via HDMI or HDMI-to-TOSLINK adapter (which is included)

I found that dialogue sounded a bit woofy and muddy. My Bose solo was a bit better on intelligibility. The Soundbar was superior on dialogue and surround. The Beam does sound good, but adding the wall mount brings is to $460.00 not worth the price tag. As for Alexa I don’t won’t that crap in my house.

How would you say this compares to the playbase? Trying to decide which to buy.

The base has more drivers and room to push out more low end. It really depends on your space, the beam is for small to medium rooms where the Playbase is for larger. Once you add surrounds and/or sub to the beam the difference won’t be as apparent mind you.

I bought the Playbase, 2x Play 5's and the Sub, and I can honestly say I would prefer watch a movie at my house than the cinema now. Music is also absolutely enthralling. However, I haven't used other Sonos products, but hey if you want my advice just buy what I got and you'll literally never want another sound system or an upgrade.

find out your tv make and google it and search for specs. This also connects with optical cable, adapter is included.

Not even close, sounds far better than any tv speakers (unless you're talking about flagship TVs with soundbars.

Sounds kinda meh, just spend the extra money on a Atmos/DTS:X soundbar from LG, Sony, and/or Nakamichi and you'll be much happier with them than anything from Sonos and Bose. 😀

It’s more than just a little extra money, rather triple the cost and still not true Atmos. Maybe wait until it’s released and actually hear it before passing judgement.

Bryan Garza not everyone would have heard it and it’s still not an accurate representation of what it will sound like for normal usage in ones own space. For the most part Atmos doesn’t make sense in the soundbar form factor. Claiming that people will be better with those offerings is a gross generalization.

J Perkins Atmos doesn’t make sense in something this size, nor in most sound bars. The few that even approach anything reasonable are much more expensive and it’s still not true Atmos.

ColonielLizardT4 Dolby digital is by far the most popular so that's all that a soundbar needs. And you're not going to get atmos on a soundbar that costs £400 .

He went over the sound quality, unless you actually wanted to hear it in which case I would ask why. The audio would be heavily compressed and dependent on whatever speaker or headphone you’re using

That would be more of an alternative to the Playbar. For the size and price this looks to be a good fit.

Jim Bob yes, on sale, but normally it is higher, and it is aimed more towards the audience who would be looking at the playbar/base. For someone looking for something more compact for a small to medium space this would be a good fit.
