The difficulty in doing a sound comparison with these kind of speakers is the Sonos move is a forward facing speaker so all of the acoustic energy goes forward in one direction but the Bose is 360deg speaker radiating sound energy in all directions. This means it’s not possible to put a microphone in “front”of the Bose because there is no front. So it will always sound second best in a video like this. But an in room test it will show just how good it really is. With the Bose you can place the speaker anywhere and you can be anywhere relative to it and it will still sound the same. With the Sonos you only have to move two or 3 feet out of the direct line of the speaker and sound quality starts to degrade rapidly.

The Bose does have an option to link 2 speakers with bluetooth so they have to be relatively close together. You can choose between mono sound or to make them left/right channels in a stereo arrangement. For a TV though, I would imagine that would cause a bit of lag for watching dialogue - so a soundbar is still probably the besat choice.

Bose for the win! I love my Sonos speakers but when it comes to portability I want good sound in the smallest size possible.

I would do sonos for the ability to add more speakers and I think it sounded deeper and richer.

It seems to me that Sonos and Bose are tops in their fields. I go way back with Bose when they sold me with their acoustic wave system. I'm still a Bose guy but Sonos is catching up fast.i purchased the Sonos 5 for my Christmas present. I plan on getting the Sonos move for its blue tooth capability. I have the Bose portable home speaker, its bass heavy but I like it.

I tried both myself at a local store and the Move is far more powerful, however I prefer the sound signature of the Bose speaker. The Sonos is rather heavy and awkward to carry.

No mention that Sonos can't stereo pair 2 units over bluetooth (yes it can over wifi), where Bose can over bluetooth (but not over wifi)

I know this comparison is older. For anyone in the market, please choose the Sonos. I went back and forth with this because I love Bose products but after having a roommate with all Sonos I started to realize Sonos is higher quality. I still picked the Bose and boy what a mistake that was. Alexa/Google has NEVER worked correctly even after 10+ factory resets. The battery life is HORRIBLE and the Sound is GARBAGE at high volumes. Very disappointed with the Bose and now I’m purchasing a Sonos and will have a $400 Bose Paperweight sitting around. Not portable at all if the battery dies in an hour or two. What’s the point?

I like the sonos sound better, but Bose has a history of quality and reliability. Not sure how long sonos has been around. But Bose also has a history of high prices. I definitely like the included charging base, let's you play while cradled, always charged. Also can pair, a def plus. Bose is set up for portability, imo, whereas Sonos is more "rock the house", as I see it. I would probably go with the sonos, but would like to check both out at in person.

Totally agree with you. Though Move lacks the 360 degrees sound stage, I think overall, the Move is still a winner.

Bose as a premium brand and with that sort of price, should have just included the base charger. Perhaps they are also not so forward thinking as Sonos. As Sonos allows stereo pairing and implementation into other existing Sonos systems. Probably the only slight advantage of the Bose is the 360 degrees sound stage.

The fact that the Bose speaker has a lantern style carrying handel for maximum portability but is only IPX4 (Which means it has no data on being dust proof and is only water proof against splashes) for that price is an absolute gimmick. It's a patio speaker at best with that IP rating to price ratio. Maybe a park that's not dusty..

Can you guys please do a comparison of streaming amplifiers? Perhaps the new Bose unit vs. the SVS and how they compare to the Sonos amp. And if you could throw in one of the units with heos that would be really great. Thanks!

For me the £120 ($165) in the UK isn’t enough to justify the slightly better sound and durability of the Sonos but either way both speakers are great

6 hours battery life on 70 percent volume for my Move.

I've used my Move once as a Bluetooth speaker for a party and saw a solid 10 hours at 60 - 80% volume. It was in pretty ideal conditions (70 degrees, in the shade, close to phone).

Yes although I don't know that it sounds different. It's a bit bigger and has wifi etc. I have the + and it's a nice speaker to take out into the yard.

Why would you want to pair them? It offers 360 degree sound, and when would you really need to on a portable speaker. If were to get a pair that $800, then you might as well get a nice outside system.

@@maurice_mw That's ridiculous! The Sonos sounds amazing for its size. I'm a former Bose owner and have to say that the Move sounds much better and is better rated for outdoor use.
