The difficulty in doing a sound comparison with these kind of speakers is the Sonos move is a forward facing speaker so all of the acoustic energy goes forward in one direction but the Bose is 360deg speaker radiating sound energy in all directions. This means it’s not possible to put a microphone in “front”of the Bose because there is no front. So it will always sound second best in a video like this. But an in room test it will show just how good it really is. With the Bose you can place the speaker anywhere and you can be anywhere relative to it and it will still sound the same. With the Sonos you only have to move two or 3 feet out of the direct line of the speaker and sound quality starts to degrade rapidly.
Definitely sounded clearer and sharper I just bought the Sonos move Haven’t used it yet But this video makes it clear that Bose sounded less faded Clearer and sharper
Listened to both myself. The Sonos is insanely powerful even for its bigger size but not that portable either, I consider the performance of the Bose to be sufficient for my use case. Take the Sonos for pool parties, the Bose for in-house listening or small gatherings in the garden.
Well I went and bought both just because my bestbuy did not have them on demo. So today I took the Sonos back if that helps anyone. Yes the Sonos had a little more bass but sound quality Bose is still number 1
I purchased the Revolve plus a few years ago and returned it after a couple of days because I was throughly disappointed with the sound and I am a diehard Bose fan. A few months ago purchased the Bose Portable Speaker and it is a keeper. It's expensive but fortunately I bought it before the fifty dollar price increase. I only have to play it at one third volume to fill my living room with quality sound. I had purchased it with the intent of using at work but I messed up and bought the silver instead of the black and once I saw how beautiful the speaker was I decided not to use it at work. If I had bought the black there wouldn't be a issue of using it at work. I had been using a flip5 at work and it is excellent but I wanted something else just because. I just purchased the Bose Soundlink Flex a few weeks ago and it also is an excellent speaker. This one I do use at work. I work in an open space and at fifty percent volume it produces an adequate amount of sound. I would blast the flip5 at full volume and it would just kick out the sound like you would never believe. On the other hand the Flex can't be blasted and that was the way it was engineered. The Flex is an instrument for quality, not quantity. The problem with Bose had been their lack of bass but they have solved that issue with a vengeance because the Flex kicks out the bass in a refined manner that is totally excellent. The Flex is a joy to hear because of the quality of sound it produces. The Bose Portable Speaker is excellent because of its quality of sound and it does get epically loud. I would characterize it's sound as totally clear and not neutral. There is a luscious spaciousness to the music and you can easily distinguish the different instruments. The Portable Speaker doesn't play music, it presents it. The bass isn't overwhelming because the speaker presents equal amounts of all instruments which is a joy hear. You can't go wrong with either of these speakers and besides if you don't like them they can be returned.

@@BIGMIKE3737 yeah I don't think there's any need for you to upgrade. I can't really decipher a major difference between the two and I had them side-by-side. They're both good
@@BIGMIKE3737 from my testing the Sonos Move definitely has more bass due to the larger chamber. The Sonos control system is very cool and that's a good way to start. I recommend going out and listening to all of the different units
HI! So glad I happened upon your video! It was SUPER helpful to hear the difference - to me the Sonos sounds better then the Bose. I'm considering one of these for my pool area. We live next a busy local street - hoping the music can help drown out some noise. That being said, most of the time, it would be used to put on ambient tunes vs pool party bash music. Is one better then the other?
my dilemma is between bose portable home speaker vs old bose iphone dock im only after sound quality. i dont need bluetooth and mostly it is gonna stay at home. i have multiple iphones/ipads that can be assigned for strictly for playing music. i just bought bose revolve II+ but will return it. my 15 yo bose iphone dock sounds better, fuller with more bass!
Yeah, some of the new Bose stuff can’t compare to the old products. Functionality is cool, but I get what you’re saying. The Sonos move actually sounds pretty decent. Try Tidal master tracks. Higher resolution music will help a bit.
Any directionality to consider? My use case is next to my hot tub so the speaker will be above ear level. Does that favor the bose 360 sound or similar for both?
Hey my friend, I think the Sonos has a little bit better sound quality but that is debatable. The wide dispersion technology on the Bose is pretty cool and of course the screen is awesome. If I had to choose, I think I would pick up the Bose right now because of the discount. But I love my Sonos move and I carry it with me all the time. Whatever video that was, comment that they need to get their ears checked. Low frequency response is significantly better on the Sonos move. I literally have the thing sitting next to me in my truck right now driving back from Austin. I brought both of them down there and the whole crew will attest to the fact that the Sonos move has more low frequency response below 500 Hz. They both sound pretty good and I ended up keeping both. I literally bring them both with me quite often just in case one of them runs out of battery. They're both holding up great and I continue to enjoy them.
That video may have been by MacRumors. He later added that whilst reviewing both speakers, he was unaware of the EQ within the app. He then stated that this dramatically change the sound quality of the Sonos. Listening to them both, the Sonos sounds much better but the BOSE is more portable. That's it.

Divine AV will be waiting 😃 planing to buy portable home speaker. did you observe any latency (delay) issues while watching videos with portable home speaker? If yes, I’ll have to rethink. I majorly do video watching
@@vamsiir I just did some testing for you. On my Note 10 plus, no latency issue at all. Lips are perfectly in sync. With my Macbook Pro I see about a half second delay.
Sonos Move is useless if your on the road or move for more then a few days as i couldn't find any way to charge it unless there was a wall plug i tried my laptop type c and thunderbolt ports neither would charge it i tried using a type C car lighter adapter that wouldn't charge it either i finely had to go to a small country town library and charge it in there lucky it charges pretty fast i got home from my trip and took the Sonos back swapped it for the Bose portable home speaker and I'm very happy with it
gamarada bamal actually you can charge the move on the go if you have a powerful enough power bank. Should’ve looked at the voltage requirements my guy 🤷♀️
