If you want Kelvin to "find" things like logs, sticks, etc. build holders and he will fill them. Virginia leads you to interesting places/items if you follow her when she beckons you. Also, give her a shotgun and pistol and she is a monster (pun intended) in combat.

Poor Kelvin. Gets a traumatic brain injury, still keeps contributing to the team, gets made fun of for walking into walls occasionally. He deserves better.

I'm really enjoying this early access gameplay with my friends. I think you may have more in common with Kelvin than the viewers of this vid.

I think some of the cave mutants get a lot of charm taken from them when you fight them in multiplayer. When a player is alone the finger mutant will charge you at high speeds(which is terrifying in a dimly lit cave, might i add) and the twins will crawl up on walls to try to get a jump on you. When in multiplayer it's too easy to stunlock all the enemies so that they can't do anything. I really agree with most parts of your review, but i enjoyed the game anyways. Luckily, a lot of the issues you had with the game will be fixed, according to interviews with the devs at least. They have said that they are both working on balancing progression, so that you can't just speedrun between map markers as well as filling the map with more to do. The devs have also mentioned wanting to improve kelvin, but if that includes better pathfinding, i dont know.

In light of your critics: Logs rolled in the first game as well. Regarding the marker being too white on snow and hard to see. It literally gives you the option to auto aline it. Would it be nice if it was a bit easier on the eyes? Yes. Having difficulty placing a levelled foundation? Use struts. Literally makes it so easy to build straight buildings even on slight cliffs. The pistol two shots cannibals if you shoot the head on normal difficulty. OFC it will need more rounds if u only do body shots, specially with cannibals. Caves def. need an overhaul to be more interesting, yes. Diversity in attacks, both by mutants and cannibals, could be def. more diverse as is currently. It's not really funny how you make a joke about brain damage being on the same level as autism, or vice versa. It's honestly quite disgusting. Aside of that, complaining about an ai that helps carrying things because it got stuck at a door or is coded in a way to get the nearest logs (usually he will go chop trees and carry those logs), is the lowest level of of not understanding early access game design. As for your complaining about the size of the map and how empty is. It is early access. The first forest game map (whilst being smaller in comparison) was also big for us back then, and it was also lacking A LOT of content. It took them over two years to finish and flesh out the story alone for the first game and get everything implemented on that map. Now we have their Sequel, an essentially finished story already on map and the devs have time to focus on fleshing out what is still needed, foremost fleshing out locations on the map, tho in regards to your complaints about the ping markers on the map showing certain locations, personally, i'd say make it a option to be turned on or off, for any individual players choosing and liking. Referencing and comparing it to an entirely inch by inch filled out ubisoft map, however, is simply hilarious and odd from you to do. Complaining about story relevant placements of underground areas (or their amount) is dumb, tbh, as it is not a critique on the game, but clearly just something you dislike in disregard that is in conjunction to the story and therefor relevant. In regards to the new seasons. U think that every 5 days them changing, is a tad too fast and it be great if it would take longer, or if there would be a option to make the time needed for a season to change, longer. Also, as long as your pc is meeting the required stats for the game, it will run fine. Hell, it runs on my old pc fine and that on high graphics. And if you find the right clothing, you won't be wet and cold the entire time ... Regarding your final rant about the new 'story line' ... did u read any document u picked up? Like, literally any? Because by how u talk how there was no middle section, it really seems like u never bothered reading anything u picked up in one of the many caves and locations. Because it will literally tell you what happened. Could it be more fleshed out? Certainly, but as mentioned above, it is an early access title. The first The Forest game took YEARS to get it's story right. And you're ranting about a just released game with an essentially done story. You stating that they 'only' announced it 20 days before releasing it ,that it will be early access, my man, this where 20 days where you and anyone u mentioned could NOT have bought the game, waited and saw if it was to your liking or not. I'd do more research if i was you, before making a hate video about a game that just released and did more things right then it's pre-quel. Most points of your critiques where nothing but nonsense.

i have 450 ish hours on "the forest" so i understand and agree all your points. I hope theyll add/fix most of the issues and things left out, but its still a fun game to play alone or with friends

completely disagree about the cannibals. All they did in the forest was zoom 40mph in a single file line and if you built in a patrol path you received cannibal dicking multiple times a day. After day one its basically on sight with those guys. Sons cannibals definitely feel a lot more alive, having animations for drinking from a stream and actually hanging out at their camps as opposed to roleplaying sonic the hedgehog until they die. The fear factor of fighting them is about the same between the two tho IMO. Cant disagree on the mutants BESIDES the worm guy, i almost feel like you left him out intentionally because HE has me on my toes, although I do like the forest's mutant set better overall. Besides undeniable bugs (many of which ive seen/heard of I havent experienced yet) I agree on the story and especially the caves. Theyre very linear and while getting lost in them in the 1st was sometimes overwhelming or exhausting, it was an experience not many games put you through now.

My only comment on this is that have you really played everything? and read like tidbits of lore? and a quick one is that the Forest is about a guy trying to find his son, and looking for tools to help him. SOTF - you are literally hired as a search party, thus having a GPS that indicates key points on your mini map

Me and my friends just played through the entire game in 11 hours. We were so hyped and having so much fun exploring, and then we hit the ending. We said "there's no way that's the ending" "it can't possibly be over" "what even happened". I've never been so disappointed by a video game.

I think people don’t understand how much work goes into making a game. And the people that try to even understand get the minimum of game making.

With a Bigger map comes more possibility and more problem, The addition of a GPS seems promising, yet If it is to be keep in the game it should be reworked completely, the displayed map should be in a way hidden and you should be tasked with investigating areas to unlock more of the observable map, Heck there could even be some kind of signal jamming towers constructed by the grey Man, which would give you a task of blowing them up, if you wish to unlock more observable part of your map. One of the most thrilling aspect of the first game, was "The Unknow" The caves were a complete mystery with dead-end and maze like layout, even the surfaces was a mystery until you had traveled in a specific direction to map it out. This game remains very promising, lots of work remains unfortunately.

WOW .. Talk about not seeing the Forest for the trees! This is not the Forest, It's Son's of the Forest simply saying it's a new game kinda like The Forest. Don't get hung up on the old game and let this one develop. I like that it's a slow roll out, I love the environment they created and I'm ok to see this grow into it's skin. I wish I was this disappointed in every game! The Demons attack different from the Babies who attack different from the Puffies who attack different from the Brutes who attack different from the Titans not to mention Sluggy. This just got started so kick back and try and enjoy it like everyone in your comments.

When I went into the video thinking that it was gonna be just another bash on the game in its early access state but it was actually a well thought out constructive criticism and this man played the hm soundtrack at the end 10/10

Maybe they have already done the game but 10x better but they just released a worse version of it, because of early access and they are realizing small patches of it every now and then. At least i hope this is it

My guy, I understand the points you make, and your frustrations are valid... but may I mention that they put the game in early access to get feedback to see what the community wants? Endnight formed because a bunch of graphics devs got together to make a game (The Forest). Nobody, and I mean N O B O D Y creates a game and drops is 100% ready to go. The game was dropped into early access because they want the community to help development. The story isn't fleshed out yet because they want to see how the community wants it to go. The game isn't fully developed, and yet here you are telling people that it sucks because it doesn't live up to your expectations. You compare their almost fully developed prequel to their functional and unfinished sequel, and think its a fair comparison. Slandering the game doesn't help the devs... You have a dumpster fire of a take on their project, and you should see yourself out.

Devs need to stop announcing their games the moment they start development.

People are so desperate for something "new", being part of a trend, that they find amusement on anything you throw at them. I agree with you despite people saying that are not disappointed, I AM. It has become a common thing these days to release unfinished games and patch it along the YEARS. For me this game is a downgrade from the first one with a different build system, nothing more, just less. Less types of enemies, Less cave exploration, Less Danger, Less Plot, NO Bosses, Less Building, I was really impressed and amazed when i played the first one, with this game i was just filling frustrated. i was expecting more kinds of mutants and more surprises, or at least the same, but everything was just linear. plus, with a bigger map you kinda lost the point of building a base, which was something that i was looking forward to it. Wild Life purpose if just for food, arrows and some kind of "armor"? Where are the Pouches? The water cannister? The searching for rare animals? The preparation for entering a cave? all that is gone. I don't know how this game is such a huge success even lacking so much things that the first one had. I'm sure the trending community will have their reasons to say but this game is going to be forgotten really quick. There is nothing worth remembering and impressive to tell people about it.

What I think happens is more and more games are riding off paced momentum and paced marketing. Release a unfinished but serviceable game to draw people in. Initial excitement wears down after two weeks when people relise the missing aspects. Then more key features that should have been in from the beginning are released, causing content creators to make videos on it. Causing there game to be marketed again by youtubers and streamers. So instead of having one initial marketing exposure they now get one everytime a big update release.

I really don't like the over abundance of firearms where the ammo is easy to restock. It immediately takes away any sense of threat from the game, and it only gets less and less scary as you find better weapons (shotgun).

We all got played by endnight. Haven't played the game since march 5th, the game felt too empty and took too long to get from point to point, there wasn't much point in building a base.

People shouldn’t have rushed in. I’m 30 hours played. Just finished base, explored only 3 caves. The game isn’t complete so don’t go trying to beat it etc. Build and survive and wait for patches

I’m so happy you mentioned the gps. Seeing exactly where the caves and whatnot were completely ruined the exploration and vibe.

Honestly I enjoyed it very much, the atmosphere the building is awesome. I do wish some of the things in the first forest were in this one water collectors, log sleds, being able to expand the log holders, rock holders and stick holders. And I hope they will add the ability to fill in roof gaps. Yes there's problems but there's a reason it's in early access.

My biggest problem is that, much like the first, the game becomes a linear action shooter very, very quickly. There is almost 0 reason to engage with the survival elements of the game or base building when you can just run away from, or past any threat with ease. If they didn’t wanna make a survival game that’s fine, but don’t waste time and resources developing that unused side of things, and instead develop the story and it’s presentation which is ... lacking.. at best.

If they did replicate the factor of it beating personal it would feel pretty much the exact same not like a sequel and it's supposed to have story in the middle missing it's supposed to be mysterious there were hints about books left lying around and then the Cube It's supposed to be mysterious and I understand why you would want to find the rich people spoiler alert seriously this is big-time spoilers you're in an alternate reality and assumably that silver jacket character is supposed to be Megan and the facilities are so abundant because it's a different Island and that's where most of the hints about alternate reality stuff are in that finger rib sing Spits what could assumably be webs and there are 3 one of them is missing its facial features it was shown in the trailer but you played on your video what you don't have new attacks as far as I know but they do have new mechanics they're blind and if you count the demons in the very very deep cave at the end of the game that's another mutant

i think he doesnt understand the part where its only in early access and that its only reason the being released in early access was for feedback from the community, not only that but who would want to play the game with the full story even while in early access so then when the game is released, only non-story items are added, like things to make the game more fun like more items and enemies.

Just watched your video on The Forest, it's too bad that SOTF isn't that much of a sequel. It could have been interesting to take the place of Timmy, years later, going back to the island (or another island) to try and solve the problem of his mutations.

If you had a business you'd understand just how scuffed it was for everybody in every industry due to the pandemic.

i feel the game is amazing looking and LOVE kelvin and verginia, BUT... there is no point in building anything. you make a big house, but why? all you need is some foundations with storage and bed on. there is nothing else you can do with the building. nothing to have in it. and when you got everything , it gets boring and then there is no point in starting over when you know where everything is. no point in exploring . if they made things spawn randomly from every time you restart then you need to explore again. Cant be to hard to randomly place the cave entrance and NOT show them on the map
