While we've looked at a pre-production unit, we had a chance to fly to Miami to check out a reviewable copy! I'm glad you talked about the operator driving the camera. Far too often critics will complain about things that are really the operators fault, not the cameras. Good job guys!

Love the shirt @ 13:23. Great video, guys! We're WAY behind you on the editing... BTW, our a6300 DID overheat when it was out in the sun, and we weren't even shooting video, just stills. Max did his tests indoors. Good hanging out with ya'll!

+Tony Northrup Hey Tony, My testing was outdoors starting at 75F ambient temp and getting to 80F by the end of it (but it was in the shade, not direct sunlight). I also filled up a 64GB SD card so about 1.5hrs of footage at the "Aktion Park" Shooting a mix of 50/50 4K and 120FPS 1080P with the camera in direct sunlight the whole time. Most of that time I was continuously recording doing test of the video AF. I believe it was about 85F there. That's very interesting that it overheated shooting stills... I wonder if Sony knew that I was the overheating tester with their other cameras and slipped me one with a higher internal temp limit or something lol. I will be getting my a6300 so I'll be doing some more testing. For event shooter like myself that need long recordings having a camera that will record without shutting off is a must.

+Tony Northrup you couldnt focus with a6000,i focused with my a6000 on a suzuki hayabusa in 180 mph and didnt missed a shot,and now you are complaining about a6300, maybe you should just review the canon and nikon apsc toys,with their garbage lenses

Really like this camera for action shots and auto focus and more. Being in the prosumer market, I'd like to add this to one of my bags, yet it would be nice to see Sony hear their customers needs for stabilization on their glass lineups.

Great you did something different in going to Miami did a review on the Sony camera. I enjoy watching the video and the shots you and Jordan have taken. Love the Tee shirt that say " Boring but sensible" and the camerastore logo on it.

Hi Chris, Great review! I ordered the Sony A6300 yesterday and I was considering cancelling the order but after watching your video twice , I think I'm going to buy it . I't been a great idea to show the lenses you shot with. I've ordered the 16-70 mm lens too.I also enjoyed the Sony A7Sii video in New York very much. Sony and other Companys should invite you more frequently since it's a pleasure to watch you walking through these beatiful beaches and those crowded and well lit streets in night New York. Just got back from a trip to Australia would have been great to have this before I left but was only launching 10 days after I left. Will be getting this one for sure to add to the Arsenal . Love my A6000 it's an easy camera to bring anywhere. Good review as always , see you next week in the shop.

Great video review! I loved the details about video and lack of recording levels when using Sony's own MI hot-shoe mics. Also the jitters when shooting pictures at rather slow shutter speeds. Those are the kind of aspects that differentiate awesome camera reviews from the rest. I was pretty much decided to get the A6300 as a replacement for my NEX-7 (such a loooong wait!) BUT, thanks to your review, reality setting about non-OSS availability upon its announcement, the lack of a headphone jack and the soft(ish) video evidence, I've decided to just stick with my NEX-7 and APS-C lenses, waiting instead to acquire a Full Frame later on, saving more $,$$$, even hoping for a silent A7iii, which is the only thing that model's missing for my needs. Thanks again for a great review.

As always, a nice and comprehensive review. Sounds like the stills takeaway is see-what-you're-shooting-as-it-moves, faster focusing and better low light performance. Sounds like the video improvements are for 4K/24fps and 1080/60fps. For the price that's not enough to entice me to upgrade from my A6000 which is my favorite travel camera. I really would like to see a new kit lens. I love the small size of the 16-50mm, but would like something as small that's sharper. Still mirrorless marches on as the future of cameras.

Adding this because i like your reviews but more info doesn't hurt anyone. The 6300 can overheat under normal use. It does so at normal inside temp for me when i record 4k p25 (35 mode) (2 times tested at about 25m). On 1080 (35mode) was fine for 1.5hours. Still doing more testing.

The 5 axis image stabilization and flip screen is one of the biggest reason why I didn't go for this and went for the Panasonic FZ1000 instead.

Wow LOG in the 6300. Fabulous. Also the Auto focus is quite good. I had an NEX5n and was so disappointed in what that camera should have been, but this one looks like a winner. Maybe my go to 4k camera without going crazy with cash to get one. I love my KS-2 Pentax, but video is well, not so hot. Thanks for sharing this video with us. I agree by the way about the Headphone. How much could have cost? That Sony quirkiness I guess. Great Job Chris, and the crew.

Hi Guys, awesome review really helped me out a lot in learning about the many options available to a consumer just getting in to this market. One question I have is with the lenses. Looking on Sony's website there are approximately 1million lenses available, I don't have time to test them all but do you have a recommendation for a general all rounder for videos and photos in and outdoors? I know that's a big call but I'm hoping there's one available that is good all round, the Sony Vario-Tessar T* E 16-70mm mentioned seems like a good option and has image stabilization built in? hey guys! Your videos are awesome as always! thanks for sharing your knowledge both photo and video wise! Just a quick question.. got my camera stolen had a Canon 70d, as it was stolen I am thinking between the sony a6300 and the 80d. Mostly I shoot landscape, adventure, nature, sports and will be taking it underwater. What camera has a better dynamic range? And video wise is the 6300 better? Also in the event of upgrading to a full frame should I go Sony? Cheers!!

Looks pretty darn nice! especially when you select a higher quality playback resolution! and the audio doesn't sound half bad either.. I have one of these puppies on order and can't wait to get my hot little hands on it! I plan to see how well it works with the xlr-k2m audio module attached.. I'm also trying to figure out a headphone solution without having to connect a monitor..

Great Review guys! I ordered the a6300 with the 16-70 F4 from Zeiss. The lens already arrived. I have a question. Does it damage the lens when I turn the ring to increase the focal length if the camera isn't connected to the camera? I turned it a few times since I have the lens. Im asking that because I heard that power zoom lenses can get damaged because of that. Greetings

Awesome review, got a couple of questions,... Some of the wide shots, with the talent in the lower thirds, what was the jitter in the top of the frame? How well does it work with external recorders? I'm looking to match a camera to my Shogun. How bad is the rolling shutter skew in pans and hand-held? The comments about In Body Stabilisation - could you guys ask those sort of questions to Pentax - they had back with the K-5 in Photo mode And Video mode,it but shut it off in video mode since the 'video oriented model', the K-01 - everything since has had awful 'Video SR' that makes the video worse...

I know the RX10 has a fixed lens, but that Zeiss lens pretty much all you'd need and seems to be better fit for videography. And it's actually close to the same price as the 6300 now. The missing headphone jack is ridiculous on Sony's part. It can't cost THAT much more to add that. Great review guys, really good info in here!

When the camera wasn't on a monopod did you shoot the video with or without IS? Did you use the Sony PlayMemories Camera App for the timelapse? Thanks for putting this together.

Wow I am really impressed with the video quality throughout this video! The fact that the 6300 can use EF lenses makes me pretty interested in it... Jordan, was most of the narrative part of this video shot in 4K 24P then? Looks great!

I've done a lot of research on the A6300 and this was the best review I had seen thus far. Thank you for answering my the questions I had trouble finding anywhere else. My biggest debate is if I should go with the Metabones Mark 4 or go with Sony Lenses from now on. I'm a Canon video user at heart and would make it much easier if I could just use the same lenses for all of my camera bodies. Recommendations?
