I have a6700 and a6100, for pure photography I would recommend a6100, nearly same AF in portrait photography, same image qualtiy, smaller, lighter, fits much better to tiny sigma 56mm. a6700 have slightly better AF in wildlife, especially birds and bugs, for people already a6100 got crazy good AF.

Hello Oliver! Fantastic shots 🙂Love your channel! I am purchasing a Sony A6700 mostly for Video, travel and some dance shoots of my partner. I am upgrading from the Sony A6400 and have concerns with using Sigma lenses for video as they don't have stabilization. I am torn between the Sony 50 F1.8 OSS and the Sigma 56 F1.4, buying mostly for video. From your usage is the IBIS on the Sony A6700 good enough to manage the micro jitters with the Sigma 56 F1.4 ?? I am concerned mostly for 24/30 fps 4k video, where I wont have the luxury of slowing down the video to remove the shakes unlike the 60 fps.

The A670 improved auto focus, video features and write speed as well as buffer size. It also debuted Sony's new 26 MP sensor which is supposed to have some benefit in lower light situations but not because of the extra mega pixels. Overall though if used strictly for photography with decent light you will not notice the benefit of the new sensor. Sony is likely going to start using this new sensor in all of their APS-C camera as it updates them because it's not really the sensor that is making the A6700 better for people who need the improved video and auto focus systems. It's just that the A6700 is the newest therefore the first one to get it. Whether it's called the A6100 II or the A6200 the next release will likely be their entry level camera with this updated sensor, perhaps a better auto focus, more video features and a bigger battery.

I have tried this combo A6700 (borrowed in a workshop) + 56 sigma 1.4. AF is amazing (I'm from A6000). The only issue I have is A6700 get warm pretty much compare with A6000, and it suddenly turn off screen for few seconds, and can't not AF when screen turn on again. After some research online, I think my lens is not latest firmware may cause the problem. Have you faced the same issue? Did this issue fix with latest firmware?

If you only care about photographs the Sony A6700 is unlikely to prove much of an upgrade for anyone with any of the A6XXX line. That doesn't mean that it's not a great camera and doesn't have some nice updates, but image quality is only slightly impoved for images. If video is your bag, well, that's another matter entirely!

Photography is not only about the image quality but also the process of creating those images. I started with a6000, then a6300 and now a6700. I can tell you that the a6700 is a much more mature product compared to 2 previous gen cameras in terms of functionality and ergonomics.

@@withoutpassid It's better, no one will argue with you. However, if you are someone like me with an A6400, you never take video and have good quality lenses you are unlikely to get an image that justifies the cost. Don't get me wrong. I'd love some of the AI Stuff for animals, etc. But I personally could never justify the cost because I'll get essentially the same image 99.9% of the time with the Auto-Focus system on the A6400.

@@davidscamerajourneythe time you save for post processing with the a6700 justifies its cost. SOOC HEIF photos are very nice that I rarely take raw photos anymore.

@@davidscamerajourney I see that you are trying to justify your own decision not upgrading to a6700. It’s your choice but if you ever try with an a6700 in the future, you will understand what I am saying.

@@withoutpassid And I don't doubt that you love it and have good reason too. For you it made sense to upgrade, you're happy, and that is great. I'm sure many others will feel the same. I've played with the both the A6600 and with the A6700. They are a bit nicer to hold, the battery life is better, the menu system on the 6700 especailly is much better. There are good improvements over the A6000/A6400, as there should be. Still, from an image quality point of view the majority of the improvements that you will actually be able to see and appreciate in the final output is for video. That doesn't mean that there are not improvements for still images, there are, but the average person would struggle to tell any difference if shown two photos side by side. That's not a knock on the A6700, more it is a compliment to just how good the proceeding cameras were.
