I really like how the exposure compensation can be reassigned. I would put iso there in a flash. Nice wrap up Rauri 👌

Thanks mate. I have reconsidered and not sure with the price if I’ll get one. $4k AUD… just seems like there are better options and I don’t feel limited by my A7iii. I wish it had a flippy screen but… apart from that I love it still

Object/eye-detect AF is the best thing ever invented for photography. Geez, to think I had to manually focus GP bikes with an 800mm lens on a film camera… Dunno if I could do it anymore!!

Can see why you’re excited about the IV Rauri. A really nice hybrid cam with high MP and great vid specs. The big thing for me was seeing that it now has the same colour science as the A1 and A7SIII which is awesome. Ok the 4K 60 is cropped, but still, all round a very impressive bit of kit. Thanks for sharing mate 👍📸

Thanks Adrian, totally agree, should be a good hybrid camera if the price fits… which at AU$4k… I’m struggling to decide whether or not to upgrade. The 4K 60 I’m not too fussed, a little crop isn’t a deal break, can use wider lenses to counter, but I like to get those close up broll shots anyway. The crop would help haha. What I’m really interested in is the Nikon Z9 (out of my budget) but have you seen the specs? Very impressive.

@@RauriBarron yeah mate Z9 is impressive, more of a dedicated sports and wildlife cam. That $10K price tag haha! Only a lotto win or gold nugget stumble across would save me 😂

Great overview Rauri! Lots can (and I'm sure will) be talked about it, but I thought I'd just address one of the negatives you mentioned: the cropped 4K60p. Speaking as an S5 user who has been using exactly this for almost a year now, I can say that while it would be nice to have 4K60p uncropped, in practical use I actually rarely miss it. And I think the reason for that is that the times when I want to slow the footage down are the times I'm taking more detail, cinematic type shots, and I'm not wanting a wide angle then anyway. I'm sure there are people who have things that they would want to shoot at wide angle 60p, but I feel like maybe it's not as common in practice as what it seems like on paper. In saying that maybe I've just got used to the limitation...? Either way, looks like a great camera! It won't be pulling me away from my S5, though I am hopeful that thanks to the likes of Sony and Canon pushing the awesome autofocus the M2 version will come with phase detect autofocus, as its the biggest area of improvement for it.

It’s funny you mention that as that’s actually what I said to others in the comments, for me 4K 60 isn’t an issue, as I would use it for broll which means close up shots anyway, it’s a benefit to me😊 But many were expecting 4K 60 no crop, didn’t happen so some are disappointed yet don’t understand it’s not a big deal. Yeah the other brands do need to up their autofocus game, after using Sony I really feel the lag in auto focus on the Fuji even, but I still use it for photos a lot. Thanks for watching 😊

Great review Rauri. Certainly some impressive specs, it's incredible what some of the latest cameras can do now. Would you say this is the equivalent of the R5 from Canon?

Thanks for watching mate I think this will be my last of the A7iv videos until I get my hands on one. Most are comparing it to the R6, video spec wise, but it’s tough as it’s really in between the two but the R5 has a few features that are more premium.

Sticking to getting a new sony a7iii which was so highly rated (even by yourself) , for what you really need as a photographer 😊👌 Can you do a comparison of the two, maybe not just how much better but also what does one really need... For the next while

Good decision mate, the A7iii is still great especially for landscape photography.. I’m still weighing up whether or not I’ll get the A7iv straight away. As it’s $4,000 in Aus. But if I do, I’ll do a comparison. Thanks for that feedback

Crazy or commitment…..crazy😂! It looks great - there’s always a but though isn’t there with every camera launch. 15 stops of DR is amazing - it’ll be interesting to see the level of iso that’s measured at and where it performs at iso 100…. and great to see Sony catching up to 2017 with a fully articulating screen 😂😂 (I think that’s what the L bracket comment is about below). It’s about time Sony started to catch up with Canon 😜 but in all seriousness looks a great camera….and this was a seriously well made video 👏👏

Definitely both crazy and committed. I know I’m getting older as I really felt it today 😴. 😂 mate the articulating screen is good to have on the base a7 model finally, but the resolution… not great. Thanks for clarifying the L bracket comment to hahahaha. Thanks for the support mate, hope you’re all good 😊 loving the look of the scenery this time of year over there.

It would be a significant upgrade from almost any enthusiast level camera but out of my price range! That'd be my budget for camera and lens possibly two lenses 😂

@@RauriBarron well...I spent £899 or so on the lowest MacBook air with the new M1 chip and it's ridiculously fast. Renders a 10 minute 4K video in about as many minutes!

That’s awesome, the power of the MacBook Air for the price is really good! I’ve been looking at the Mac mini too to replace my current 2014 15” MacBook Pro, which was fully spec’d. I use a 27 inch display to edit but it’s got an issue so needs replacing soon too, so may get an iMac next year as saves me buying a separate display. Decisions! And I still haven’t got that drone I said I’d buy last year 😂

@@RauriBarron I got an Eos R with the 24-105 RF lens. I have kept my Panasonic S5 for video work although as I said to Lisa the other day I been using it as much as the Eos R since switching back to Canon.

Rauri! Good bye L Bracket. 5fps in 2022 and fps was in 2007. , 6fps compress raw, rolling shutter, Mechanical shutter sound, 4k60p in crop mode is absolutely bummer.

The rolling shutter is definitely a shame. For me as a landscape photographer it isn’t a major concern, but I can understand others. As for the crop of 4K 60.. I like to film up close, shallow DoF broll anyway, so a little crop isn’t a deal breaker
