SONY FX6!!! 1st SKATE SESH + UNBOXING 

Al Dolega good call. I actually used it at a skatepark yesterday because I had to continuously shoot for 30 min and the sun was going in and out of the clouds. But I’d love to test it in a line situation going from a covered area to brightly exposed as you suggested!

@@killatape So the ND on that isn't 3 stop, but variable???

@@Tricklarock You can use it as a standard 3 stop, OR you can out it on variable mode and it will seamlessly and gradually transition between the stops. Really nice for when you're moving between situations of different light

Thank you Peter, I will try to keep the videos rolling. My aim is that these videos will be focused on what these cameras can do with skateboarding, but useful enough for the non-skateboarder to enjoy. Glad to hear you're liking the 28-135, I think that will be my next lens purchase. Thanks Joe. Everything is well in Austria (except lot of snow and Corona-Lockdown ;-) ). But we're still out there in the streets, shooting tricks and having fun. I got one question: Did you use the build in MIC in the top handle when you tested the cam with the Canon 8-15 fish? Thanks and all the best, Peter

@@petermader9559 Awesome! Yeah, I did just use the internal top handle mic, should have mentioned that in the video. Pretty decent quality audio from that thing

Thank you! The FX9 is definitely a beast, but for me- the FX6 image quality is just as good for my purposes, and I love that it comes in a smaller form factor and much lower cost. Also keep in mind that the FX6 actually surpasses the FX9 in some ways, such as the fact that it shoots 4k 120 (although I think they will possibly have an upgrade for the FX9 at some point?). You can shoot s35 on the FX6, but only at 1080. But I'm also pretty lucky, as my collection of glass mostly consisted of full frame lenses already, though I do think I'm going to have to purchase the rather expensive 28-135 lens for this to replace my old 18-105. I don't think you can go wrong either way, but for me the FX6 was almost exactly what I was looking for

Hey there! I went with the 28-135 power zoom. Heavy lens, and price tag, but it's realllly great. Far better quality than the 18-105 I was using on the FS700

Alex De Grace thanks Alex! I’ll try to address all of that in my video on the fisheye. In my experience, using steady shot with a fisheye doesn’t work very well but I’ll look into it for sure.

@@killatape oh yeah its true!! i Forgot that when we used to film with our camcorder we have to shut off the stabiliser!! So now my new question is😅... If youre gonna use Catalyst are you going to adapte your filming because the program zooms the image!!?

@@alexdegrace4643 Good question on the Catalyst situation. Jury is still out on that, but my thinking at the moment is that it will have to be case by case. We film a lot of Vlog content as well more polished content, and my settings and style of filming change for each type of thing. The reason I bring this up is that Catalyst only works if you don't have the in camera stabilization enabled, and I tend to turn on IBIS quite a bit throughout the day, because there's a lot of on the fly and run and gun type stuff for the Vlogs, walking along with our subjects, etc. The less post production necessary for the Vlog stuff the better, as we often have very quick turnaround times for those. Sorry for the novel! In summation, I think I will only use Catalyst when I know that what I'm shooting is for a more polished piece but I don't have time to set up a gimbal.

Sia K I didn’t use a LUT, just did some minor curves, saturation, and basic correction adjustments in Lumetri in Premiere Pro. If you watch my last A7Siii video I show that process towards the end.

ReginaldEsque I have actually and it works great! I filmed a Ricta Wheels commercial with Sewa Kroetkov years ago with that setup.

No, I usually shoot action in 60p so I can get nice slo-mos on the action shots. I usually go 24 for doc work and other more cinematic-type projects

You mean the 12-24mm fisheye? I'll be honest I didn't love it. Had a strange look to it. Went into that a tiny bit on my first A7Siii video. I have another video in the works about the Sony 28mm w/fisheye adapter. Still love my Canon 8-15, but that Sony to me is a nice option.

@@killatape Thanks! I missed that in your first video. I've been looking for something that's wide angle but not a lot of barrel distortion. I tried the Laowa 10-18 but didn't really like it. At 10mm it had weird "mustache distortion". And zoomed in it suffered from pretty bad lens flares under any sort of harsh lighting.

Nov 18th, like the minute that they made the pre-sale live. Didn't want to make the same mistake I made with the A7Siii by waiting a few days- that thing took FOREVER to ship to me
