This is a video of a sony PSP 2001 repair. The PSP was dropped and the screen fades with gentle tapping/thumbing of the PSP front or back. Screen resumes after powering down the PSP
When I was a young boy, my dad gave me a PSP 2001, and the screen always keeps shutting off just like yours. I was always unsure as to why it was doing this back then and now. That was until I discovered your video. While I don't have something kind of like foam, the best substitute I have is an old fever relief pad, which I cut and then place it in. Now that it works, I've finally found out both the cause and the fix. Thank you so much! If it weren't for this video, my PSP's screen would've stayed doing the same issue! ❤
Thank dude i just bought a new lcd for my psp 3 weeks ago and it was working fine then every time i push the start button the lcd would fade so i watched your video and i grab a piece of paper and put it where my lcd screen ribbon cable was but on the bottom right so i put it there and it worked!super video!
You are the best! I've tried everything to try to make it work and now my baby works! Now I have to try to fix my other PSP but it's a different problem, X button doesn't work..
Problem here is with CPU and/or sharp tv-out IC at the back of motherboard. By adding foam you're just pushing it to make better contact with board. For full fix reball is needed, but doesn't help all the time as sometimes traces, not balls themselves cause problems. Good luck!
Great video. I will do the same with my god of war psp. Only thing different between yours and mine is with that metal plate. mine is made differently. I think sony did that on purpose so that when the warranty passes, this will start happening making it harder to find a way how to fix it. But thank you This is really helpful.
Great video. My red God of War PSP shows the same problems. I have not been able to fix the backlight turning off, though, even with the very helpful instructions from your video. My backlight fades not when I tap the PSP but when I apply pressure to the right side of the LCD screen (watch?v=BqF2vMEXa7w). I might just be content with the 'fix' of putting the PSP on standby and powering it on again. You're still getting my thumbs up, though! Cheers.
Have been looking for a video on how to repair the backlight fuse on a psp 2001 with a TA-085 motherboard,so far i haven't found one. Not sure were the backlight fuse is. zzz
Does not sound like the backlight, screen would be very dark. Possibly just dimmer that current phones. You could try a new lcd but not sure it is worth the trouble.
