Wonderfully clear and no time-wasting not knowing what you are doing. Thank you very much. The particular repair that I want to make is to replace the lens which means detaching it from the sensor. Do you cover that at all - I believe it can be a bit tricky to realign the sensor and the lens?

hi, it was a while ago ...but if Im correct it is easy ....there are cenetering pin/s for sensor to sit on lens assy. thanks for watching

Pretty insightful to see this. Although I don't think I'll ever disassemble one. The number of connectors and the number of things you have to look out for is scary.. Nothing like dissembling a laptop.

Thanks for the video I will use it to fix an issue I have with a DCS -RX100M5 that cycles on and off constantly until the battery is dead, even with the power turned off. I have identified the problem as a loose connection in the viewfinder. If I press down on the view finder or put it in the up position the camera works fine. I have to leave the viewfinder in the up position to not kill the battery. (Not ideal)

Just a number 1 pro video on how to. Fantastic! Just a little question: my EVF Electronic View Finder pops up with the slightest touch on the left side. Sometimes I find the Sony in my backpack with the EVF popped up. Any idea how to fix this? Keep up the good work. Grtz from Belgium! 👍👌

hi , there is delicate mechanism for pop up EVF inside of the camera (left side) maybe a spring or lever popped out… check it out

Hi @guzzio1, did you find a solution for this? My camera is turning on out of blue because of the sensitive EV mechanism. I would be very glad if you found a solution like to not turn the camera on automatically when the EV pops up. Cheers!

Thanks for your video. I have another problem with an RX100 M7: the image is blurry below and especially on one side. This is due to the fact that there is too much play between the lens tubes and that it bends under its own weight. When I lift the tip a little, it's OK. How do I adjust the tilt of the sensor to be just right for a photo taken horizontally?

hi,I don’t think it is even possible to tilt the sensor. you may want to check out lens parts and make sure it is all good there …

At 3:15, once the sensor assembly is visible, could you remove the 3 screws on it and gently flip it over(without detaching ribbon cable), to remove the hot mirror filter?(full spectrum conversion)

I followed your steps, in the end my display was upside down, power won't turn on, the lens comes out and won't reseed when i open the view finder. What did i do wrong, can you please help.

HI , it is bit hard to identify the issue remotely .... if your display is upside down - the upside down sensor is disconnected or damaged . and rest of your issues seems like something is not properly connected or the ribbon cables and damaged . I would go once over and check all connectors and ribbon cables ( but again Im not sure what is you level of skills so please you decide what is right ).

Thank you for your video 🙏 I started opening my RX100 VI but I still can't find what's wrong. I have the "Turn power off then on" error, with code C32:60. When I switch it on, the lens extends, screen stays black, then I can hear 3 clicking sounds, then the lens retracts and I get the error. Really don't know what to do with it 💢

Thank You for the tutorial. My mainboard was defect and replaced it for a new one. Unfortunally it does not work. I can turn power on and nothing happens. When I press the button to take a photo the lens pops out and slides in again. Thats the only action! The LCD screen lights up a little but no tekst. There's also a strainge noise from the lens. is there any idea or is it lost? (camera is two years old and had a litlle water damage which insurance did not cover)

hi, if there was no drop or water damage before… I would check all connectors and delicate ribbon cables.

Well, I do not easely give up but I cleaned All the connectors and build in the motherboard for the second time. Now are other things working (and not working). The display is complete black, in the viewfinder I can see things and ajust timezone, etcetera. But the lens is not moving en stays in the camera. in the viewfinder appear turn power off and on. when I do this the same happens. when I turn on power there is a smal red light flikkering in the battery compartment. Any suggestions or should I give it up? Kind Regards Rob

I manneged to locate the strange sound I hear when I switch on the camera. It is a kind of scratching sound as if the motor of the lens is trying to operate or the sound of a short circuit (sound is not continu but in a Heartbead tempo). I wil try to find out by disassemling the camera again

@@takeapart The background music doesn't add anything to the video. It's too distracting. It has vocals and it is annoying. Best to have no music at all and just your voice with the video content alone.

Hello! My Sony RX100V started asking me to input date and time everytime I take out the and insert a battery. It says online that there's an internal battery that maintain the date and time but I can't seem to get o find that small battery in your videos. Do you know what the problem is?

hi, yea there is no battery inside… unlike on older cameras. not 100% sure but you can try to charge it with USB cable and see if it gone hold settings

I have the same issue with my rx100m5. The clock resets everytime I change the battery. The manual said there is an internal backup battery. Does someone get this fixed by sony's post service?

Hi! I have a hard time with the M2 version and it seems I cannot find anywhere a solution to my problem. And it is quite urgent, too. I get the error message "Unable to read memory card. Reinsert memory card". I swiped many cards of different capacities, types and brands and still nothing. I tried to clean the card slot with some thin microfiber cloth on a piece of a bank card, but still nothing. I think its quite difficult to reach the inner contacts anyway. In the upper part of the slot I noticed two metal contacts-like things which were covered in some greenish dust. I'm not sure what is the cause of it and if that erosion reached the lower contacts, too. Do you think that M4 version is similar to the M2 when it comes to reaching the card slot? Can you make a quick video with tearing down the camera and reaching/taking out the card slot? I am thinking of replace it myself, since the next week I have to leave to Iceland and this problem came at the most inappropriate moment. I talked with some guys from a service, but as you imagine they almost have no time to repair it in such short time. And I think it could be quite expensive, too. So guidance will be most welcome!

Hi , hard to tell! it can be oxidation that prevents proper contact... also bent terminals ... I would disassemble it and give the pcb with sd card slot bath in iso alcohol... also you can access the terminals better. thanks for watching

I mean, more difficult than reaching the lens? (I've already watched your video to learn how to start disassemble it, but at some point the card slot area remained untouched and to reach it, it looked like it would take quite a lot of work. (I don't mind the work, but I do mind to do something inappropriate while I'm at it).

it depends on your skills... if you never done similar you probably leave it for professionals... otherwise you can go ahead and follow my video.... not sure how different it is from mark iv but it shouldn’t be much different.

Anyway, I think it is best to leave it for proffesionals and if they'll tell me they don't have enough time, next week, than I will do it and this is it. Thanks for your advices!! Hi, you can have something broken inside... also broken pieces can block retraction mechanism... have a good look inside and try to move small gears with hand ... just be careful!
