Sony RX100 VI Hands-on 

When I told my girl that they Sony an update to her RX100V her immediate reaction was "mic jack = instant buy". Thanks for "listening" to younger audience, vlogers and literally every reviewer of RX100V. All we needed was a mic jack!

I'm still using the Mark I as my "carry everywhere" when I'm not using a FF DSLR .It's quite a good camera and they're still available in Australia for about 240 quid .

The smaller max aperture is a bummer. I feel like there isn’t that much reason for many people to get tiny sensor compact cameras especially when you get no natural subject isolation, phones can shoot 4K already and have comparable image quality.

Much better color accuracy than previous models. And sharpness is very good for this range. Good job Sony

Can we also talk about how insanely good this A7III footage is??? Sony did something to get it ever so closer to RED footage and it looks fantastic!

That dust spot in the center drives me crazy. Nice camera BTW, but the LOG video had a strange magenta cast in the shadows (and it's not my screen)

Oh man, I feel your pain with the dirty sensor. I've shot all day only to find out when I captured my footage that it was all spoiled by a little dust on the sensor :P

WE LOVE YOU KAI AND SONY

Right now I'm using Lumix G8 and I love it. I use it mostly for my family video in 4K and pictures. I wanted something smaller so was thinking of changing to RX100 M6 what do you think?

Like the idea of the vlogging handle. Wish Canon would make something like that for the M5 etc that worked both video and photo modes. Hate having to press a button on the back to start recording.

A few things people have missed; yes there is a touch screen but it is actually lower resolution than the previous models rear screen. Also no 3.5mm mic jack, but there is now bluetooth so I can see Sony releasing a bluetooth mic transmitter for this. Any mic would plug into a jack but you are forced to get only Sony's bluetooth mic, sneaky sneaky...

It's astonishing how this Sony series of cameras keeps surprising. I'm still shooting on on the original RX100 and 6 years later it's just as great (if a little long-lensed at 28mm). so far as social media and full-screen photos it's great - if I ever get more serious about my photography I'll have to go with a Sony system.

Keep your RX 100V and use clear image zoom if it's available with this camera. f 1.8 is a huge plus!

Nice. A best seller quite possibly.. They should’ve put a mic input on the handle grip thing. And... yeah the f1.8 is a bit sad to see gone.. For most users of this camera though, f1.8 probably won’t be missed. For photographers though...

Still no Mic-In; went from RX100IV to V, but won't jump to VI. Also, do you notice a weird rattling noise in your video when filming and moving around with the VI? Both my IV and V developed this glass-on-glass rattling noise within a year, and 4 V I tested new out of the box has this rattling noise during filming. Supposedly loose lens assembly for the IS and is within spec.

Very interested to see the Sony a7iii go down in the heat, shocking. Was keen to by into this system but as I often work in temperatures hotter than Venice that's concerning, it would appear it's not just rain and humidity that's a problem for these 'game changing' cameras.

Hey Kai, great video as always! One question: what lens have you been using with the A7III (specifically this video)?

Usually this kind of cameras have zoom lenses that eventually will attract dust inside them. This dust will start to appear in photos and there is very little things you can do about that. Better choose a compact camera with a fixed lens like the Sony RX1 series. There is the fat Philip Bloom too in Venice. Skiathos island helps him to eat well.

Put everything a bloggers need and for sure everyone will buy it.

I am actually plan to trade in my Rx100V but still a little bit hesitate on the shrinking aperture.

After loosing so much money on the mk4, I’ll never get another one of these

I bought this camera and was so happy until I compared the pictures with my rx100ii. I don’t know what it is, either the flash or the new lens but the mark ii’s pictures are so much richer...by a whole lot. The vi has many nice new extras, but in the end the quality of the portrait is most important. And that’s why this camera is going back. I played with it for 2 weeks and no settings gave you the colors, richness, and the awesome bouncing flash like the mark ii version. Oh and the mark ii has the multi-hotshoe, so you can hook up external mics to it! Maybe somebody else can compare the older versions with the mark vi and write about the experience.

An advice, Do not get disappointed with the 2.8 apperture fellows. Sony has crossed that technology border where you no more need to see whether the lens has big opening apperture or not. Just go for the camera. It can do a lot more than you have read or watched in reviews.

Love the mark on your sensor/lens in the opening minutes...so frustrating to get home and find that out...

Think I'll give up photography and get into journalism. Free holidays to places like Venice just to talk about a camera seems fab!

Legend has it that in one of his videos there isn't a single shot with sensor dust.

I have a Samsung camera from about ten years ago that does most of what this does. It seems to be an incredibly expensive echo of the point and shoot days. But at least they sprung for a decent trip this time, not like the A7 iii shed.

I had to stop this video. I was laughing so hard at the Top Gun music, with the boat pilot....

1 inch sensor for 1200. Damn. I RX has many lineups but damn.

Looking forward to a compact with ultra wide angle zoom. The high end compacts nowadays are so much the same. 200mm is perhaps "cool", but who uses it frequently anyway.
